They had tons of fun fall activities, an enormous corn maze with fun clues and a bridge, a hay bale climbing tower, a tricycle track, hay rides, bouncy rubber horses for kids to ride on, a giant pool table with soccer balls to be kicked into the corner pockets, and lots more. They also had a lovely market where they had tons of pumpkin varieties, mums of all colors, what seemed like 100 flavors of whoopie pies, cider, and tons more. Awesome day of fun for everyone!

The veritable cherry on top of their cornucopia of fruits, vegetables, jarred foods, baked goodies, pretzels, popcorn, candies, and frozen foods is their Whoopie Pie Festival, which we attended today. The Festival runs on Feb. 26-28 & March 5-7 between 9am - 4pm. Essentially, you can create Your Own Whoopie Pie for $4 each, 4 or more at $3.50 each, and 12 or more $3 each. Here's how it works - make your customized selections of one of 12 cookies, one of 11 frostings, and one of 7 toppings, and Brecknock will build your pie. I went full Elvis mode and selected banana cookies, peanut butter frosting, and chocolate chip toppings around the circumference. We had a great time at Brecknock -making our Whoopie pies, playing a whoopie pie trivia game, and picking up a few odds and ends for us and friends. PRO TIP Hats off to Brecknock for their generosity and hospitality. They had free samples everywhere- whoopie pie wedges, pretzels, popcorn, and all sorts of goodies. It worked on us, because after sampling some honey mustard pretzels, we couldn't grab a bag fast enough.

The setting is beautiful, but unfortunately, our experience with the customer service during…read morepick-your-own was disappointing. Our younger daughter wanted to try a few raspberries before deciding whether she liked them. We made an honest mistake and understood when we were told that this was not allowed. We apologized and offered to pay for the raspberries, and we even paid an extra $4 for the couple she had tried. What bothered us was how the situation was handled. A woman came out from the house and spoke to us in a condescending manner, even asking whether we would eat food from a grocery store before paying for it. We apologized and agreed to pay, but the situation continued even after we had left the fields. The woman called the checkout desk about us as we were making our way to pay. We were happy to acknowledge our mistake and pay for what was taken. We simply expected the situation to be handled with a little more courtesy and understanding, especially since we immediately offered to make it right, and have been repeat customers. The farm itself is a nice setting, but based on our experience, the customer service left a lot to be desired. If you're trying to teach your kids what good customer service looks like, this probably isn't the place to do it.

When we entered the place we noticed that they have separate stands that sell specific items that are run by the local workers from each Department that there are in charge of that specific area. When we went to one of the counters to ask a question the employee helped us with what we were looking for which was shoofly pie. The shoofly pie let me tell you was delicious. The place was very well taken care of and organized. They have a parking lot that is right on the side of the building for free parking . We went there right after Christmas and it was decorated as well. If you're in the area I would recommend you to stop by even if you don't purchase anything just to check it out as well.

The "sweets" section didn't disappoint. They offered cakes, pies, breads, sticky buns, cookies, etc. While I did find prices on some of their baked goods unreasonably high, others were very affordable. Be sure to check the bottom shelf of the baked goods display for discounted items. I scored 6 sticky buns for $1.99 and a dozen oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for $1! Sweet tooth satisfied.
