But things were very different. Since they already have all my info from last year, all she did was add my W2 and told me the amount I'm going to get. When she told me that, I told her I did it somewhere else and they told me I can get $283 more than what she told me and she try to get it as closest as she can and everything was going smoothly until I told her I need to step outside and make a phone call that's when she said you have to pay full amount witch is $100 before you leave. She even said how do I know you're coming back. She could've stated it in a different way if that's how she feel. Also I wasn't aware of that they get paid by hours not service. At the end I was able to step outside and made the phone call and came back . At that point, I believe it was one of the owners came to me and told me to go in her office and work with her again, without even asking me what went wrong or what was the problem. Bottom line is DO NOT go or give them all you're informations before you ask all the questions you have because they lie. I walked in 4:41PM and left 5:12PM

However, it's difficult to go with a company or trust them with your taxes when they can't even respond to you in a timely manner or at all. Let me detail my experience below: December 16, 2019: Send an inquiry through their website asking about availability for new clients. Receive a response from Steven that they're currently evaluating their capacity and will get back to me in a week. I respond immediately asking if I should follow up in a week or if they'll let me know? *CRICKETS* December 26, 2019: Ask for an update. Hear nothing, follow up with an inquiry through their website December 31, 2019: Receive a response from Steven apologizing for letting this slip through the cracks. They have room for new clients and ask for information. I respond an hour later with the information. *CRICKETS* January 19, 2019: Another follow up. Ask for an update. *CRICKETS* January 31, 2019: I give up. However this past year he dodged my emails/phone calls, my husband's emails/phone calls, and my elderly mother's emails/phone calls (we all file separately). He once picked up the phone and then pretended to be someone else when he realized I was calling for an update on my taxes. He lied to us about filing for an extension and took forms from my mother that he never returned. Ultimately he stopped replying entirely and we had to look for a new accountant, several months after the filing deadline. I just got a notice that I owe several thousand dollars in late filing fees because it turns out he also lied about getting an extension. I don't know what is going on and while I wish Steven no ill will, please do not work with this firm or him. I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

This was weird because over the phone the appointment was said to be made with the CPA herself. So just be sure when you make an appointment that you know who it's with and what will occur. The assistant after looking at all my tax papers gave me a quote for $350- 375, then a quote for $450- 475, then a quote for $550- 575, then was told that I would you would need to charge by the hour to look at one thing. I'm a small business owner, and they advertise specializing in small bushiness, so I'm not really understanding that why I would need to pay her to research something like that. For each increase in price I was told that it was because she didn't notice that my taxes would require "additional work" in certain areas. She gave me the first quote after looking at all of my papers and no new information was provided the first quote to the then open ended quote of apparently I'm guessing $550 + hourly, but we don't know how many hours? Not a great way to run a business in my opinion. I liked the CPA but when it comes down to it they're going to have to run their business like a business- they can't increase the price 4 times during a meeting. They should be able to read the forms, ask some questions, give an estimate. (Edit: I don't have a ton of "issues" as the buisness owner below says, I'm just a small business owner. In fact the first increase was because "they didn't know they needed a schedule c" even I know that and I wasn't pressuring them for a quick estimate, I was happy to answer any questions). Also, the office setting is not professional. It has a really bare bones feeling. We met in the lobby (I would a private setting) and sofa was super uncomfortable, painfully so. They say that people can come in and DIY taxes with someone helping to answer questions but the little cubicles were totally empty while I was in the office- probably because this DIY area had absolutely nothing to offer- they didn't even have coffee! How can someone focus on taxes without coffee!!? (Edit: yes I brought the end of my coffee at first but did need more and didn't know they had any- I couldn't see it, I did look for it).

I never once received regularly updates from her, in fact, I only ever got a update if I asked for one. Weeks would go by without any update or progress report of where she was at in the process. I eventually called the IRS myself and was told NOTHING had be done with my account and this was 4 months after I hired AND PAID her. She took nearly $400 from me without doing any work and has refused to contact me since. I trusted her with an extremely important tax matter and she did nothing but take my money and go radio silent. I highly recommend steering clear of Leslie Ghonheim for any accounting services!!! Do it yourself before you hire her. Worst customer service ever and you will leave disappointed!
