Decided to try two cupcakes: Toffe and lavender lemon. Both cupcakes were moist, the frosting was fluffy and light and not overtly sweet. It's been quite some time that I found a good cupcake spot and this will now be my go to for cupcakes. My favorite of the two was the lavender lemon. I'm sure the other flavors would be bomb but I had to control my sweet tooth and only chose these two. I also has the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with side of sweet potato fries was pleasantly amazing. I saved half for the partner and he loved it. I first visited Wisdom a few years ago when I was visiting my family in Houston. This past weekend, my sister and I decided to pay a new visit since we were out and about and in the area. The ambiance is low on the lights but is super cozy with booth seats that make you feel like you are sinking in lol. For my entrée, I went with the "chicken" parm with sweet potato fries. I like that the texture was super crispy on the outside, but I guess there wasn't enough butter or oil or something because everything was falling apart easily. I had ordered a light brown cake with red frosting roses with green leaves. I had someone else pick it up and when I saw it.. it was a light brown cake with rainbow sprinkles. I ended up removing the sprinkles at home and added some pecans to help to conceal any imperfections. I didn't want my birthday cake to look childish. It was pretty disappointing that I didn't get what I asked for or any heads up that they wouldn't be able to execute but the cake did taste good and pleased the non-vegans who had it. It is frustrating to finally find a place that has great vegan food... leave work and dash over to them arriving at 6:30 waiting for 12 minutes for someone to take my order, but wait it's now 6:42 and unfortunately the kitchen closes at 6:40 even though they do not close until 7. I had ordered an array of the vegan and gluten free options: soup joumou- a Traditional Haitian pumpkin soup, chickpea sandwich with truffle fries, an Ube cupcake, banana nut muffin, coffee cake muffin, and two cookies. Also, I got the special Dubai mocha latte and Chai latte. The soup joumou was delicious, it was creamy and full of flavor, it was hearty and filling 10/10. I wish it was a regular on the menu. I enjoyed the sandwich it was good chickpea sandwich 6.5/10. Good quality fries, they had the perfect amount of truffle oil it was not lacking or overwhelming 8.9/10. The Ube cupcake was everything I didn't know I needed it was super moist, bursting with Ube flavor, the topping was light and airy with just the perfect balance of sweetness. 10/10. I used their app to order about noon. I requested my order to be ready for 2pm so I'd have time to pick it up on my way home from work. I don't get off work until 1:30. So tell me WHY I got a text from them at 1:00 advising me that my food was ready??? I called and the young man who answered the phone said he'd place my order under heat lights until I arrived. So my order had to sit an entire hour. Unacceptable! I got there at exactly 2:04 and my food was cold, especially the fries. Both orders of fries were inedible and had to be tossed out because they were even worse once they were heated. I am very glad I gave this place another try! I was able to try some of the cafe options and I will definitely be adding it to my list of vegan eats!! The spicy chick'n sandwich deserves the hype, however, it's so thick that the desired crispiness is lost in every bite inside of the edges. The sweet potato fries maintained their crunch even after becoming cold. The pesto fries were tasty without being too overpowering. I wasn't a fan of the buffalo sauce on the bites, but they were battered and cooked perfectly. The lemonade was delicious without being overly sweet, and they let you combine flavors as well. This will be my 2nd time visiting wisdom bakery. I have liked everything I've tried from this cafe. I especially like their burgers, but have found that both times I've ordered from them, I feel as though their menu is lacking diversity/theme. As a bakery/cafe you expect there to be some fresh baked goods. Today I called ahead and asked about fresh baked breakfast sweets and they did not have any, nor did they have any fresh pressed juices.
