There seems to be a strong catholic presence in the area. There are lots of small shops throughout the area, in great variety. I really like the concept of building art, which helps to alleviate buildings that might be considered eyesores. This concept also, serves to give artist a place to showcase their talents, as well as offer representation of the cultures in the area. Really provides inspiration on many fronts. However, the town still had the old residents listed at my location for excise tax purposes because the town was sending the old residents tax bills which I had returned to the town. As a result, the town didn't send me an excise tax bill until after it was due. I spoke to the tax collector over the phone, and was told I wouldn't be charged any late fee, and to pay online. When I paid online, I had to pay the late fee. The tax collector had lied to me because she didn't want to defend her mistake.

Not far from Peabody and Salem, in the north suburbs, it's being swallowed up by Boston's northwards expansion, but still retains a charm and is part of an amazing greater Boston area. Named after the important city in England that I know well, and nothing like it. A lovely and calm community with not much crime, and having friends here, I've stayed here on half a dozen locations and I'm sure I will again.

The town also has a good selection of restaurants and yacht clubs. I understand the school system is very good. This would be a great place to bring up children or for singles that love the beach.

This isn't an industrial city which means that it mainly consists of residential areas. I would live here forever if I could. Close knit communities and quiet areas means that there's a lot of peace of mind when living here. There are two major reasons why I HAVE to give it four stars instead of five. 1. There always always seems to be construction going on. Like Dan G. mentioned earlier, there is one Dunkin Donuts location that chokes up traffic all the time! Not only that, but they have been working on the bridge there now for over a year and they JUST finished ONLY half of the bridge.. which means there's halfway more to go. It is HORRIBLE in the morning to get from inside the residential areas of Winthrop towards Boston because of it... it's actually a nightmare. 2. Logan Airport. It's located RIGHT beside Winthrop and jams up cellular service. I lived in the downstairs apartment of my landlord and I get no reception whatsoever on my phone, and the internet connection is horrible. Just TRY to watch a single video on YouTube.. it's nearly impossible to finish a ten minute video because the connection is so bad. My landlord tells me that they keep a land-line in their home because their cell phone service is so bad. Beside those two crippling downsides, there's just no way I would call Winthrop "perfect" but it comes damn close.

Like all of us are Lady Liberty or none of us are- it's all fake. The Statue of Liberty is supposed to be the gateway for immigration- I can imagine the ships sailing past full of people who endured the seas to come to America. Land of the free where nothing is actually free. Wow~ that's a deep dive that just keeps going! I love art and all the thoughts it can provoke- even if some are not happy thoughts and feeling. Nightly performances begin at 4:30 and run every half an hour throughout the property. The best place to see the show is near the giant Christmas tree. Then you can turn around to see the rest of the lights in Faneuil Hall blink too. The show isn't too long - enough time to have fun, but not have children get bored. I watched the show with a group of adults and we enjoyed it as well. It's definitely worth checking out while you're in the Faneuil Hall area!

Pioneer Village is a living history museum recreating the city of Salem as it was in the 17th century. It also was a filming location for Hocus Pocus! Pioneer Village is where the scenes from the beginning of the movie were filmed. We see a flyover of an old Salem town as the opening credits roll. In one of the small houses is Thackery Binx, who wakes up to find his sister, Emily, missing. There's not a whole lot here other than a few houses . I would recommend planning to spend 30 minutes here .

This review will not enlighten you). We did not know what to expect at Car Talk Plaza since Tom & Ray's retirement. We found the odd shaped building (thanks Yelp!), with the odd shaped elevator, and took it to the third floor expecting at best to find a locked door. However, after tapping on the door, we tried it and it miraculously opened! There was absolutely nobody in the office! Evidently Doug "the subway fugitive, not a slave to fashion, bongo boy frogman" Berman and "John 'Bugsy' Lawlor were not yet back from the Sliced Ham, Razor Clam, Cherry Jam, Rack of Lamb, Grand Slam. We thought for a moment about having a romantic interlude to the sounds of "Are We There Yet Mama?" by Kelly Clark and the Wild River Band (show number 200102). However, we became consumed inspecting all the interesting gifts and memorabilia throughout the office. Once we were sated, we signed the guest book, put a pin in the Visitor's Map, grabbed an autographed postcard (or two), and proceeded back to the odd shaped elevator and back to Harvard Square. Love this historic neighborhood. I could have walked here way longer and I would return to explore…read moreit even more. It is majestic, one of the oldest in the city, dated around 1795. Great restored historic house, nice cobblestone streets, everything is well maintained and elegant. Isabella Stewart Gardner used to live here, you can see her older house, it has a plaque on it. It borders Boston Common and the beautiful Esplanade! If you have time while visiting Boston, definitely stroll on the streets of Beacon Hill. You'll get a better sense of the city. There are museums around, you can take a tour or created yours like I did!
