Me and the children I nanny for love this farm! Mary is the SWEETEST and was able to teach us so much about the birds, ducks, chickens, roosters, bunnies, goats, and emu's she cares for. When you get there your given a huge bucket full of vegetables, fruit, corn and cereal to give the animals for a small fee. From there your brought around to hand feed them and learn how they came to be at Mary's farm. Our favorite part is being able to hold the baby bunnies and Guinea pigs. We will going back for sure !

    We love winterpast farm!!!!

Winterpast farm was the most fun and exciting experience I've ever had !! My friend and I were visiting NC for the first time and wanted to play with some farm animals. (We are 25) And boy did I find just what I was looking for! Farmer Mary gave us a tour of the whole entire farm explaining each and every animal! We even got to hold and pet almost everything! I would take a plane from where I'm from (Mass) every weekend to go there if I could! This is a MUST visit for ALL ages!! Especially kids! :)

Great place to bring the kiddos (ours are 2 for reference). They have chickens, roosters, turkeys, an emu, peacocks, guinea pigs, rabbits, a hedgehog, pigs, a miniature horse, donkeys, goats, sheep, and some friendly farm dogs all for the kids to pet/feed (you bring your own food to feed the animals)/play with. Mary is friendly and helpful with teaching then kids how to pet, hold and feed the animals. We will definitely be back!

Mary wasn't very friendly and I feel she tries to make money on her rescues. Not my kind of place.

It was amazing to see the big cats up so close and to hear the lion "ooooph." We especially loved the big male lions, Bianca the white tiger, the binturong, and the fennec fox. It was clear that the staff loved the animals and had worked with them closely. The park is not fancy, but it is doing good work.

The Animal Park at the Conservators Center is a non-profit wildlife center in Burlington that's…read morededicated to abandoned and rescued exotic animals. It's a sanctuary with a focus on the animals' well-being where the residents get to live out their lives with genuine dignity in a safe, caring environment. If you are looking for a typical zoo experience where you can show up without planning ahead and gawk at caged animals for entertainment, this isn't the place for you -- and that is exactly why I love it. What makes it special to me is the meaningful mission and intimate guided walking tours of 10-15 participants led by dedicated, knowledgeable volunteers that last 1 1/2 to 2 hours. You aren't just looking at animals, you're meeting survivors. Most of the residents -- from lions and tigers to wolves and lemurs -- come from difficult backgrounds or private owners who couldn't care for them. If you're lucky, you'll hear the lions vocalizing -- a deep, rhythmic sound the staff calls "oofing." It literally vibrates in your chest and is something I'll never forget. PRO TIP #1: Reservations are a must. Because it's a wildlife sanctuary, you have to take a guided walking tour led by volunteer guides that share the individual backstories of the animals and answer (or find someone on staff who can answer) any questions you may have, which makes the experience so much more impactful than a self-guided walk. Limited weekend-only hours and required reservations mean you have to plan ahead due to volunteers' availability. PRO TIP #2: The habitats are designed for the residents' comfort and enrichment, not for yours. Expect unpaved gravel and dirt paths, so wear mud-friendly shoes or rain boots if it's been raining.

Of course their big attraction is the drive thru animal park which you take your own car along a dirt trail and can feed (if you choose) various animals. The price for this place will not break the bank. A couple of observations to improve: 1) It needs to be maintained more... some of the exhibits just feel like add-ons on top of add-ons and it feels dated. 2) A refresh and modernization to the walking trails would be good. 3) A proper cafe or even drink stations with covered seating would be nice. Something more than just random popup trailers. 4) A more permanent (possibly lit) sign off highway 87 would be nice (if possible) Again this place is awesome, would come back!

They come and dart their heads in to get food. Also, the llamas and alpacas will follow your car if they want more food. Hilarious. We repeated to ourselves several times not to feed the donkey and the zebras, as they can bite! We actually drove through the whole thing twice, and I'm really glad we did. More and more animals came to our car the second time around. There are camels that are feet taller than our car. We were able to feed and interact with some more huge gentle giants and also learned to roll the windows up if an ostrich was running towards us! The walk-through portion is fun as well, we fed some barnyard animals and even pet a kangaroo! The big, exciting part for me though was when we got to feed carrots to the giraffes. They are so huge but so docile and they take the carrots with their tongues. This was really a fun experience, with us even putting the carrots in our mouths for them to give us "kisses". All the staff members are friendly and helpful, the areas are well kept and the animals seem to be well cared for. The price is $15 to enter, and that includes the drive through and walk through, you get a wrist band so you can go to each as many times in your visit that you want to. The cups of feed are $3 each the first time, and then an additional dollar for refills. The giftshop was cute with lots of fun stuff to purchase. There is also a food vendor there on site with some yummy foods, and an area with picnic tables to enjoy a nice lunch. This was a great time, and I will recommend to anyone in Fayetteville or surrounding areas!

There wasn't a question we had that our excellent tour guide couldn't answer for us. She knew all of the lemurs by name, in addition to knowing what types of lemurs they were. We were there for about 2 hours, and we toured the veterinary and research facilities, the nocturnal area, the lemurs usual little cage homes, and then the external exclosure area where they could roam free within an outside area. The external exclosure was especially fun, as we could just walk among the trees & bamboo as they lept from tree to tree overhead. At the end, they brought us to the gift shop, and then also gave us all an educational magazine. They require donations in exchange for the tour, and all tours MUST be booked in advance (so look online before you just show up!). However, if you are looking for something truly unique to explore while in Durham, I can't recommend this enough.
