They were excited to show us and we were very impressed with the work and finished project. We initially wanted to do a traditional hardscape using landscape flagstones and gravel. We went through several contractors for suggestions and estimates and found some good leads but the cost of the work varied based on the quality and variation of stone. We had heard about artificial turf blended with landscape stones and loved the way it looked. We were initially hesitant because our mindset towards artificial turf was outdated. Thoughts like quality of material, hot turf in the summer and longevity of materials didn't appeal to us. We quickly learned that advancement in the artificial turf industry including material and the warranty and life expectancy of the product sold us. We absolutely love the brand and design of the turf they installed. Blake and Spencer came out and listened to our thoughts about the landscaping. They offered several different options including many that we had not thought about. We actually went with a design they offered that not only looked better than we imagined, it was less costly than we thought it would be! During the work, both Spencer and Blake showed up to monitor their crew, check on the progress and to make sure we were informed and happy with the work. After the job was completed, they took us on a thorough walk around and made sure we were completely satisfied with the finish work. Even while the work was in progress, they were open and flexible to minor changes we wanted at the last minute. It's hard to find solid, reputable companies for landscape work. Artisan Turf made this a seamless and enjoyable process. Attention to detail, great work ethics, delivering as promised and doing all of it at a very reasonable cost was a solid plus and this company delivered as promised. We are very happy customers. The process started in 2017 when we shopped companies to replace natural grass and we didn't proceed as the pricing was just amazingly high for a very small 460 square feet project. The turf project is now complete because DFW Turf Pro's owner Marc made it so easy. We talked with several other turf companies and were pleased with their product offerings and pricing. We met Marc at the Dallas Home Show where he helped make the decision so easy by answering all of our questions and without hesitating agreed to upgrade the turf at the same price of a middle grade turf. He truly helped us make the the informed decision to proceed. Within 4 days the installation crew (a family of 3 and a close personal friend) arrived as arranged, were incredibly organized, friendly and diligently worked through the hot North Texas August heat until completion that included a perfect cleanup. A really awful experience…read more Poor work quality Poor communication/responsiveness Poor customer service In November 2020, we used IdealTurf to install turf in a very small yard behind our townhome, which was no small investment. The overall work quality was okay -- the edging and finishing was a little rough, but the turf looked pretty good at first. After a month or so, we noticed that it was pulling up at the seams -- large clumps of turf coming up leaving bare patches around the yard. We called them for weeks to see if they could address the problem. They came out a few times and tried to patch/repair the turf, but the problem never went away. After months of back and forth, they finally replaced the turf in late summer 2021. The second install looked much better and did not have as many seams, but pretty quickly a new problem emerged -- drainage. We have one drain that services our backyard. IdealTurf recommended that we cover the drain with turf because it's more aesthetically pleasing and they assured us it would still drain properly. It quickly became clear that was not the case, and even with light to medium rain, our backyard now floods (see photos). We called numerous times to get support -- they would never get back to us and when they finally did, they said they were not responsible for drainage (even though they covered the drain with turf!) After continued calls, they finally sent someone to look at the drain this summer. The gentleman very clearly said that the turf must not have been installed over the drain properly, and more importantly, he said the turf looked terrible for being less than a year old. It is matted, it lays unevenly and it is starting to pull up. He said they would repair the drain and would submit a warranty claim to replace the turf. Weeks and months go by -- we call to get updates on the replacement, and every time we speak with someone, they said they are still waiting for approval. We finally connected with someone who said we again needed to have a repair tech look at the yard. We scheduled an appointment last week but no one showed up. After several follow-up calls, IdealTurf is now totally unresponsive. So, after two years, we are finally giving up. We need our drain repaired before it starts to rain this fall, and we need to have the turf replaced. And unfortunately, we are going to have to pay another company to do it. I hope others can learn from our experience -- there are many other companies that install turf.
