I promptly entered a hospital near my home to have a thorough examination of my body. Afterwards I contacted an attorney in Mexico for compensation of my injuries. The casino staff would not allow me entrance into the casino and wanted me to sign a no discussion letter re my injury even though I didn't receive any compensation. Strong arm tactics are used by this casino and really isn't very welcoming towards American tourists. Best to attend casinos in the United States.

This city has undergone some major and much deserved renovation and restoration in the last few…read moreyears. Its border crossing (though busy), is not as busy as the border I grew up experiencing living in San Diego. It has however, (and understandably) gotten much busier with more barriers/delays, etc. over time. It's a good idea to pay attention to the border wait times to plan the best time to return into the states. You will have to go through a checkpoint when entering into and returning from Mexico. Bags are inspected each way so if you have to question an item you're considering bringing in or out, it's likely best to leave it at home. Or you risk confiscation. Surprisingly, I did not too many refugees on my recent visit. This city is relaxed and the people are warm and welcoming. The locals/natives (Mexican and/or Chinese descent) lovingly are referred to as "Cachanillas". This a type of plant, Pluchea sericea native to Mexicali. Blending two beautiful cultures into one that makes La Chinesca so special and unique. This area is historically known for having the largest Chinese community in Mexico. There are hidden underground establishments and tunnels built by the early Chinese immigrants. I am told the underground construction was a way for the Chinese to escape the harsh heat. Which at its hottest, reached a scorching 125 degrees Fahrenheit in 1995. These tunnels have been re-opened and there are affordable tours available taking you as far and as safely as possible through an underground labyrinth where people would live and congregate. They even show you some old opium/gambling areas and more. I would highly recommend coming and respectfully embracing all the city has to offer. About a decade ago, I referred to La Chinesca as somewhat stuck in time. However, they're mixing old with new, embracing change, all while honoring and preserving deeply rooted traditions. This city also offers plenty of dining options as well and plenty sightseeing and shopping in a day.

I had one reservation with four rooms. Due to international calling, I emailed in advance to have the rate applied. Yolanda Carbajal Munoz indicated she applied the rate. However, she only applied it to one room and I was charged the full rate for the additional 3 rooms. Front desk: Checking in was unpleasant. They didn't know how to direct us to where our rooms were. They didn't inform us that the elevator was not working. (I had my mom with cancer that cannot climb stairs and my disabled brother). There was a lack of empathy and problem solving skills, and poor customer service. When checking out I asked for a folio of the rooms and identified the error in applying the group discount and the front desk was un resourceful and could not identify a general manager or provide a solution. Rooms: I was in a single executive room and there were dead cockroaches in the bathroom, the toilet wasn't clean and had skid marks, and there were old toilets and showers outside my window, along with workers walking by.

From the moment you arrive, staff greets you warmly, takes care of valet parking, and helps with your luggage. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. During the day, you can choose from three different restaurants. I didn't get a chance to try them all, but I did have breakfast. The food was okay, but the breakfast area is small with limited capacity. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes in the lobby before being seated. That was the only downside. In the evening, I invited some relatives, and we went to the bar. It's small and intimate, and that night they had a gentleman playing the piano. He even played a few of my favorite Luis Miguel songs, which created such an enjoyable atmosphere. Staff at the bar were attentive and made the experience even better. As for the room, it was spotless and very comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job, and anytime I needed something, staff responded right away. I've stayed at several hotels in Mexicali, and this one is by far my favorite when visiting family. I definitely look forward to returning!

Walking distance to a bank, bar & grill, restaurants & convenience store. Their system was down so check-in was the old school way through a paper trail. Everything went smoothly. Room was a single bed / small, but fine for what we needed it for. Bed was hard as a rock tho, which is why I took off a star. The free continental breakfast was delicious ! I was very impressed. Much better than the free breakfast in the U.S. // a good variety from toast , to fresh scrambled eggs & beans, to yogurt & fruit , cereal, juices, coffee , etc. loved it. As far as noise goes, I didn't think it was loud & we were on the 1st floor. Overall, I would stay here again. Close to everything we needed.

It is a modern hotel and more modern than many I seen. They have 2 very nice restaurants. Once which is open at 6am for breakfast The breakfast is a winner. Buffet style of different dishes. But I enjoy the omelet station that I get what I want freshly made. Dinners are nicely priced and very tasty in both restaurants A very nice gym that is set up for a good number of people. Pool area is a winner. Pool water temp so nice and relaxing. Though here on business and since had no time to do much. This hotel gave me enough to do to whine down. The people are so nice and very friendly. The decor is kinda outdated but it's cleanness makes up for the fashion deprive building. I will be back in Mexicali several more times in 2015 and this is my hotel of choice. Thanks for a great week

Valentines special: $150 for a suite, chocolates, champagne, 2 breakfast buffet passes and later check out. There are 2 pools-one heated, gym, game room with pool tables a lobby bar with live entertainment and two great restaurants attached to it. It was great here.

They always greet you when you walk by the lobby. The rooms are always clean and tidy. The beds are so comfortable and the pillows are always so fluffy. We love sleeping on the comfy pillows and beds, we always wake up feeling so refreshed. The breakfast buffet is hot and delicious with a large verity of delicious dishes to choose from. The gym has all the exercise equipment you need for a good workout! I love using their elliptical machine or the bicycle. They have wipes to wipe down the machines and they also have hand towels to wipe your sweat off. They have complimentary water bottles! I really appreciate their hospitality! The pool is beautiful and clean. I like going in the pool during the summer. It's really nice and relaxing. Also the hotel is located inside a shopping plaza. There's several restaurants and shops you can walk to, it's super convenient and very nice.

Possibly the worst hotel customer service experience in... ever. I've been traveling…read moreinternationally since 1986. Yes, I'm old. Yes, I have a lot to base my review on. The hotel is in a decent location with several restaurants in walking distance. However, the front desk personnel can ruin the whole trip. These folks can't execute on the SIMPLEST things. I've stayed here about 5 times for work, and each time it's been a crap-shoot on whether I've actually been booked in a room with a microwave and fridge, as requested in my reservation. Not this time. No fridge, no microwave and no real coffee maker in the room, either. There is a one-cup contraption with coffee in a pouch. I have gone to the lengths of bringing my own coffee, filters and cream. As well as my own breakfast foods. But alas, I will make do with the fridge they brought into the room, but for some reason they can't seem to bring me a microwave as well. Nor an actual coffee maker. Amazing that in the 21st century it's so difficult to get actual customer service. I'd probably recommend you stay anywhere else, but here.
