I love this local business. Winnie and her family have become my go to for clothing and shoe repairs. Having a good seamstress/tailor is very underrated. Today I needed a pair of pants hemmed up. I got them and I knew they were a little long so I had them taken up an inch. Winnie hemmed them up perfectly. She can always fix clothing, no matter how damaged it is. I came in to Winnie's to pick up a tux I was having altered before going on vacation and didn't have a check to give to Winnie. Not knowing me from Adam, she sent me out the door with the tux and told me to bring her the money when I returned from vacation. I took a pair of dress pants in that already had cuffs in the hem. I explained to her that I wanted my new dress pants to look just like the ones with the cuffs and left them with her as a go by. A week later I received a phone call from her and was unable to understand what she was saying because of her accent. I told her I would come in the next business day to talk to her in person and not take any action on my pants. I arrived and found the cuffs in my pants had been removed and both pants were hemmed regular. When I tried to explain to her how she messed up she told me I was wrong and that I didn't tell her right. She cut off the extra material and there was no way to fix my old pants or put a cuff in the new ones. I will never go here again. read more

This Seamstress is AMAZING!!! Just picked up my 3 tunic tops and they are perfect! After my original purchase, the fit of these mock turtlenecks was uncomfortable, I ended up never wearing any of these tops. I finally decided to try Winnie's Alterations. I asked Winnie's to put a zipper in the neck but she said it wouldn't look very good. She suggested a round collar which was fine by me because I just wanted to wear these cute tunic tops. Sloppy Work! Winnie's does sloppy work, and then refuses to make it right. Took a blanket in for a simple trim (marked with a Sharpie) and she cut the wrong side--leaving my comforter marked in black. Tried to palm it off on me, but I checked the blanket before I accepted it. Refused to make it right--had to haggle and hound her for a measly $10 refund. Avoid this business like the plague! read more

I have had a lot of success with pants here in the past, but just now (oct 2013), my experience has been a complete disaster with 3 different jackets. Not only was the work sloppy, the buttons in different places on the sleeves, but also they were altered too short. My jackets are ruined and unwearable. Over $700 gone. She "tried" to fix them but couldn't do it. She tells me I'm "too picky". I learned a lot from this experience. The best tailors and alteration shops are the ones where you can tell from the start that they want the customer to be happy. Winnie's behind New Leaf is not one of these places. I've known that for years, but had never had a problem. Now that I have had a huge problem, I realize I should have known better from the start. You have been warned. read more

I have been using Winnie's for several years - about 10 yrs. They take pride and care in their work. Prices are fair - people and customers may not realize the cost of alterations or sewing - and always expect something for 2 - 5 dollars. Nothing or hardly anything cost 2 - 5 $ any more anywhere. They have fixed zippers, sewn on patches and hemmed shirt sleeves & pants for me. I always leave there with a smile. Nice hard working people who own and run Winnie's. Nick at Capital Shoe Repair who is only 2 doors down is excellent for repairing shoes, belts etc. too - anything leather. read more

The absolute worst!!!! I had some Dickies that needed hemming. She agreed to hem the pants with the original hem and when I picked the pants up the hem was off by an inch!! And the inseams were off by an inch!!! Absolute worst!! She told me she would try to fix it and I was forgiving. She had repaired other items & I gave her a check. I asked her not to cash it until the next day when I would transfer some money. I be damn she must of ran to the bank because I got two sets of $30 fees from my bank before I realized what she had done.....NEVER AGAIN!! read more
