I had written a slightly negative review a while ago and it disappeared. I had always enjoyed…read moreshopping at Marks for my husbands clothing....but am extremely disappointed that they would erase a review. I have never shopped there since finding out they erase negative reviews rather than learn from them.

Hm Yelp, it's technically "Mark's," cuz as they say "Less work wearhouse, more you."…read more Anyways... first of all I've got to give Mark's major credit for changing their company brand and products and boy am I happy they did! When I was a business student and I thought about clothes I thought RW&Co., Reitmans, Smart Set, etc. My problem with these places? First of all: polyester. Wearing polyester means clothes clinging to my skin and my hair look like I stuck a fork in the toaster. The other problem: I'm too short for regular length pants, and too tall for petite. Now that I'm actually looking for work I decided to give Mark's a chance. I'm not going to say Mark's is perfect, they don't have the biggest selection and some seasons when I've gone it felt like the clothes only suited an older generation, but most of the time, I tend to find something nice. My most recent expedition was a complete success and has put so much faith in me I'm itching to go back. Along with the usual waist size their pants come in four length options along with numerous styles of fit, AND they're cotton, as are a number of their items, so I'm happy. They don't necessarily have extreme business clothes (For instance, I'd like a blazer) but the product they have is sufficient enough and, more importantly, their maintenance is practical! Those rain proof hoodies they have are also super cool too, and many months ago my mom told me they have hoodies that are good to -15 temps but I never actually went looking for them, which is a shame. The service here is generally average, I rarely get greeted when I walk in the door (possibly the set up makes it difficult for the staff to notice?) and typically staff members can only be found at the cash wrap, not really on the floor which can be problematic if you need help. In the past I remember there being no one anywhere. The location is pretty good too, not very far from a train station and easy to drive to. All in all, if you're looking for clothes, business or casual, don't count Mark's out, it's not just for trades workers anymore.

During my visit, I met Holly Allen who showed us some of her latest designs, made from Indian Saris! They were beautiful! Holly Allen is well known in the local designer world and she designed pieces for a lot of the artists attending and performing for the 2008 Junos in Calgary. Carrying everything from clothes and handbags, to bracelets and custom-made charms, Chichi Couture is a very interesting and hip boutique. They offer complimentary gift wrapping for all their customers and are extremely active and present at local events (Alberta Fashion Week, Fashion Has No Borders and Miss Universe 2009, just to name a few).

She knew what shirts and combinations of items would flatter my body type... she has an incredible eye. This is a fantastic shop full of beautiful items, and Holly is an incredible person. I'm so glad I was introduced.

This is a large location with obviously more room to show off more shoes, boots and accessories but the prices seemed even pricier than Aldo locations. I usually identify Outlet as a place where you can get the same product as stores but at far better prices. The girl there said that they offered basically the same products and prices as other locations in the city. They just had more room to offer more. Then why call it Aldo Outlet? Anyways, didn't see anything overly spectacular here that should make you drive all the way to this southeast location.

Then my boyfriend said oh she's just looking for some nice shoes to try out and the lady looks and goes well we are trying to keep this store clean and customers always come in and mess up the boxes and we have to size everything perfectly , and I look over at her and say ok well I actually work at a shoe store myself and I only had one pair that I was trying on , so I ended up just walking out. Working in retail I would never say that to a paying customer if they make a mess or don't put things back to bad you clean it up you are getting paid for it. If someone says they don't need help back off. Worst service ever and I will never go back for crappy shoes that are over priced. Worst location AVOID!

I needed a new business suit and Laura is usually a good go-to place for something like that as…read moretheir prices are reasonable and they have some great classic pieces. As it is Christmas time, I opted to go to the SouthCentre location as I was hoping it would be a little less busy than Chinook (it was). I found a few items I liked the looks of. While I was greeted by a sales lady she initially seemed more motivated to get me into a fitting room than to help me find pieces to complete the outfit. When I was ready to try things on, I was greeted by a grumpy supervisor type who was looking at me quite suspiciously. As I was changing, I could clearly hear her tell the sales lady to keep a close eye on me and other customers in the store (she described them to her) to make sure we weren't taking anything. Seriously? A) What made me look like a shop lifter and b) while store security is important, don't ever let the customers hear you say stuff like that. When I went to pay (yes I still bought it because it fit perfectly and I didn't have time to look elsewhere) she was then at the cash, still looking grumpy and suspicious of myself and another customer. My sales lady was being very efficient and nice which I was trying to focus on instead of the vibe I was getting from this other woman. When they asked me for my phone number (part of their customer management system) and I came up as a previous customer, the supervisor stopped giving me the evil eye-I assume because I suddenly became less of a shoplifting risk? I'd have given them one star if the sales clerk hadn't been so nice at the end (I think she was compensating for the supervisor) and if I hadn't found something I really liked. But I will think twice before going back to this location.
