I walked into the WingStop on 8 Mile & Woodward in Detroit, right next to Starbucks. The 1st female saw me but seemed to pretend not to. So I went to the restroom. While there, someone started pounding on the door! After I washed my hands I headed back to the counter as female #2 called my order name. I said, "Over here." She took the bag to the OPPOSITE COUNTER! She called the name again. I raised my hand and waved it back and forth LOUDER, "Over here!!" She threw the bag at me. I am not a fan of chain restaurants. So I came into this experience highly jaded. Hands-down this is the best lemon pepper wings you have. I am a wing fanatic !! I placed an order using Door Dash for pick up since I was in the area. App gave me an estimated 25 -30 min window, with pick up from 2:50-2:55pm. I went in to pick up @ 2:53 and the first thing I noticed there was about 5 employees all standing in the kitchen area working, definitely too close for comfort during COVID and not everyone had a mask on. Gave my name at the counter and was told the food wasn't done and to give them 6 more min. So we stepped outside to wait, while a revolving door of customers came and left. I try to make it a point not to go grocery shopping when I'm hungry, so tonight when my stomach started rumbling on the way to Meijer for groceries, I looked around the plaza and settled on Wingstop. I walk up and there are literally 3 occupied tables, leading me to believe that they weren't all that busy and my quick bite would be just that. Boy, was I wrong. I order a small combo and sit down to drink my drink. Twenty minutes later I'm looking around and seeing that a man and his daughter who were there before me I'd thought were done eating were actually waiting for their food. I walk over to them and ask how long they'd been waiting. "25 minutes" the man told me. And I was like, "I ain't got time for this" so I walk up and politely ask for a refund. "We don't do refunds" I'm told. I mill around the register for 5 mins or so and a woman who walked in right after me starts to grumble and tells me she ordered online in advance! And she was still waiting 25 mins like the rest of us. If the place was full of people or there was a line I'd understand but the place was literally empty except for us 3 parties waiting. Now, I've never worked in a kitchen, but I know that they aren't doing any real cooking at Wingstop. So why does it take 30 mins to deliver a meal that cooks in 2 mins in a fryer? And who would wait 30 minutes for food you can get at any bar in a third of the time? It might say Wingstop on the building outside, but this location really should be called WingWAIT cause that's what you're gonna do here. Wait. And wait. And wait. Avoid this location at all costs. I work for a food delivery service and my account was flagged for extreme lateness because each order wasn't even started by the time I arrived. I waited around 45 mins for nothing. I was told by the cashier that they were working on the order, only about half an hour later to find out that they never received the order at all. This is an absolutely fantastic store. The staff is nice and always makes sure to check orders. During the pandemic they observed the necessary precautions to keep everybody safe. During my most recent interaction, I accidentally ordered for carry out instead of delivery. They were very quick with issuing me a refund electronically so that I could order online for delivery. I'm never disappointed with this store (#1417)!! I see the rating for this location is low, however, I don't feel that it is justified based off my MANY experiences with this location. This was the absolute worst Wing stop experience I've had. No one at the counter when you walk in to greet you or even ask "what can I get you". Music blasting with inappropriate music. Lobby full. It was 4 team members here at the time btw. The light skinned gentleman with dreads in barrels was extremely unprofessional. He didn't seem like he wanted to even be there. Didn't see one smile on the face of any of the staff. They used profanity amongst each other that could be heard by customers in the lobby. The thing that tops all of this was the fact that I ordered on the app, waited 30 mins and then when I came in with my app confirmation that said my order was ready, I was told that my food wasn't ready in the most disrespectful way " it ain't ready yet " is what I was told. When I asked why is the app saying that it's ready, the guy with the dread completely ignored me and just walkers to the back. I heard the same thing with a lot of other peoples orders as well that were waiting. Customer service was complete garbage and they need a complete new staff. For people that have lived locally to this location the past few years know that they closed, reopened and we all probably had high hopes only to experience the same poor service.
