Restaurant is to the right where the main seating area is. There's also a back area but it was utilize for a private party that night. At first we were kind of iffy as there was barely anyone there but since we were here already it was a go. The waitress was quite friendly and very sweet. Throughout the while dining experience, they constantly checked up on us to see how the food was and if we needed anything else. Made sure we were taken cared of and enjoyed our experience. Then comes the menu, quite a lot of dishes that you would typically get at a Mexican restaurant and some that seem to be new. The birria ramen which lately have been seeing at loads of Mexican restaurant. Of course as it was Tuesday, we came for the tacos. Before you walked in, there's a board that says tacos Tuesday, 4 tacos for 10.00. Thats a deal that's worth it. Either chicken, al pastor, chorizo and buche. Of course that was needed. We wasn't quite sure what buche was so opted out from that. Started off with a cold beer as they have draft and price was quite nice. 2 order of the tacos, one with 2 chicken and 2 al pastor while the other was 2 al pastor, 1 chorizo and 1 chicken. When the dish came out, it was well plated. You usually see just the tacos alone but it was plated with slices of cucumber, radish, grilled onions and grilled chili peppers. Quite nice. And of course I had to try their birra ramen. Seems lately that Mexicans restaurant are incorporating that dish to their menu. I'm also on the hunt for the best...lol... This dish too was quite tasty. Pretty decent bowl full of broth and loads of meat. Served with a side of onions and cilantro and lime slices. The color was nice. Had a dish a while back where the color of the broth was pretty light and watery. This place was nice. The tacos were very tasty both the chicken and al pastor which also had slices of pineapple added. Chicken was flavorful and chorizo was goods. Onions and cilantro also added but asked beforehand if we wanted them. Beforehand, three different salsa was brought out, spicy medium and mild. Wow, both the spicy (red) and medium (green) were delicious. The right amount of spicy and perfect for the tacos. Food was delicious both the ramen and tacos. It's with the 10.00 for the four tacos and birria ramen was tasty and delicious. Worth it. Glad that we found this place. And the staff, all very sweet and very friendly. Attentive and made sure that we were well taken care of. Didn't have room for dessert but will definitely be back. We got seated at one of the booth which literally looked a lot to the men's restroom. It was fine but not a thing you want to see while eating.

Heydey is a casual (shorts and t-shirts seemed too be the preferred attire) retro diner mixed with a cocktail lounge featuring dark red booths, stained-glass lampshades, and an outdoor patio. The restaurant is small with limited seating and does not do reservations but we had no trouble being seated immediately on a Wednesday evening at around 6. Our super friendly and charming server was Cesar who greeted us with the biggest smile which he maintained throughout our visit - it makes a dining out experience all-the-more enjoyable to have someone like Cesar taking care of you. We both ordered the "Martini and Burger" special which featured a single smash burger described on the menu as "Fresh beef blend, American cheese, caramelized onions, shredded lettuce, house made 1,000, on a griddled potato bun." The special was $20.75 each. While the burger was delicious, we felt it was on the small side and could have been larger. The martinis were standard size and on the strong side. The burger does not come with anything at all so we ordered a regular order of fries to share ($7.75) and the order size was more than enough for two of us. While best known for their signature smash burgers, HeyDey also offers cheeseburgers, vegan burger options, crispy fries, chicken sandwiches, wings, and house-made sauces. Bar is limited to beer, wine and martinis. Bottom line: small, friendly, casual downtown Palm Springs eatery known for its smash burgers and martinis. Service was excellent. Other than for disappointment in the small size of the burgers and the fact that any sides were a la carte - we will be back to try other items on the menu - hoping to get Cesar as our server ;-)
