chicken wings and french fries in a styrofoam container
Kj P.

I walked in around mid 11 and was greeted with nothing but positive energy and received amazing customer service. The atmosphere is nice, it's a small spot. I got 10 wings and fries for 10.99, 75c for an extra sauce, you can't beat that. I got 5 hot lemon pepper and 5 garlic parmesan. It's only one cook in the kitchen and the owner, everything is cooked to order so have patience because it's worth it.

Right away the place had a great vibe, busy but still comfortable, and you could tell they take their food seriously. Marcus took care of us and his service really stood out. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out right without us having to ask. It's always a plus when the service matches the quality of the food, and he definitely made the experience even better. The brisket sandwich was excellent, full of flavor with that perfect smoky taste and really tender meat. You can tell it's done right. The pulled pork sandwich was just as impressive, juicy and packed with flavor in every bite. Both sandwiches were filling and hit the spot. The mac and cheese was great as well, creamy and rich and paired perfectly with the BBQ. It's one of those sides you don't think much about at first but end up finishing completely. Overall this place delivers on both food and service. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Jacksonville and want some legit BBQ.

We ordered one of the platters ($36 approx) it came with 1/4 chicken, 2 ribs, 2 pieces of turkey, 2 pieces of brisket, a side (Mac and cheese) and a roll. We also got an extra side of sweet potato fries and burnt ends. All the meats were very good and well seasoned. The sweep potato fries were out of this world not sure what seasoning they had on them but WOW they were delicious. The only so so note was the Mac and cheese, not bad just average. The building itself was clean and neat, they turned over the tables quickly and checked on guests often. They could use some better signage for the building itself but that is the only knock I can give (gps took us right to it).

We were asked how many by a young lady but later approached by a young man. He eventually sat us, gave us menus and told us that he would be our server. The menu provided didn't have brunch options although it was Sunday Brunch hours. He didn't return to our table for over 20 minutes. He was serving several tables around us but since we were in the corner I think he forgot about us. My friend had to go to him and inquire when he was going to take our order. He took our order. The food came out promptly. Our server checked on us one time after we received our food and we had to wait on him to return to pay our tab. My friend loved his food and has been here several times before. I enjoyed the fish but the grits were kinda bland... Sunday Brunch is more of a club vibe, it's loud. I would like to come back and try some other menu items.

I am normally not a person who seeks out pizza in general because I find pizza is always missing something. For those of you who subscribe to the salt, fat, acid and heat thing (plus spicey for me), this is the pizza for you! In addition the pizza sauce was bright with a fresh tomato taste, not a sweet, heavy dark red spaghetti type sauce drowning in italian seasoning. Top notch! I can say I will come back for this one. This was my first time here and I asked questions about the signature wings. They gave me a free sample of wings. Same thing, god balance of fat, acid and salt was good. If crispy breaded and fried is what your wanting/expecting then these wing wont be a good match, but the flavor is spectacular. The lemon in the sauce is great. The ambiance is a little industrial, more designed for hanging out. That is a choice not a defect though. Just saying it is not a quiet dinner for two kind of place. All in all, a quality find and I highly recommend.

I knew yesterday as soon as I saw the advertisement for the new specials I had to get Layla's Chicken Cutlet Sandwich. My daughter couldn't decide on a calzone or the Mac Attack Pizza and after some deliberation, she landed on the Mac Attack Pizza. We got there just after opening and they already had a few customers in the door, but we didn't have to wait long at all. Our food was ready within 15 minutes and brought out. The chicken cutlet sandwich was everything I had hoped it would be. Tangy, savory, and the cutlets were the perfect thickness. Full of great flavor and fresh mozzarella made this the perfect lunch today. The bread wasn't too soft, nor was it too hard. Baked PERFECT. I would eat this every single day if could. Amara loved her pizza and is excited to have some left over for later when she's playing her video games. I like mac n cheese, but generally I'm not a mac and cheese on pizza kind of gal, so I did not try any as of yet. Maybe she'll let me have a slice later? I was too stuffed from the sandwich for anything else. 10 out of 10 recommend and hubby is a little jealous we went without him.

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. Today was about trying something different, and I'm glad I did... even if it didn't knock my socks off.

We've been to Crispy's a handful of times over the past few months and tried a few things on the menu. Nearly every time we've been there we've seen pizzas go by us and thought "dang, we really need to try their pizza some time". So when we decided to go there tonight I figured we'd finally do that. In addition to that, my wife informed me that she was going to have Garlic Knots no matter what. So yes, we ordered Garlic Knots to start. I don't know why, but I was expecting them to be a bit tough. I guess maybe I've just had them at other places and they're usually thick / tough, so that's what I figured these would be. They weren't. They were really soft, in the best way. Not doughy or under cooked, just soft, warm and very good! We debated what pizza to go with and eventually settled on The Klutho, which is more or less their meat lovers pizza. We also did the garlic butter crust at the suggestion of our server. I'll start by saying thank you to our server for that suggestion because that was some good crust. I'm happy to report that we both thought the pizza tasted as good as we both thought it looked every time it went by us before. Let me put it this way: if the pizza in my photo looks great to you, yes, it's that good. Like I said, we've been to Crispy's a few times over the past couple of months and we just like the place a lot. We didn't plan to go there tonight when the day began but I'm glad it worked out that we ended up there. Now we've got about half a pizza to split for work-from-home lunches over the next few days.
