Some years ago, Wingate's used my credit card number, which they had from a previous transaction, to charge me instead of asking how I wanted to pay. I hadn't come back since then, but my veterinarian sent my cat's prescription there. I figured maybe they'd improved, and I could live with the place as long as I paid cash only. My mistake. When I got there to pick up the prescription, I was asked to tap a screen button acknowledging that I'd received HIPAA privacy information. I hadn't yet, so I said I'd agree as soon as I in fact received it. Instead of showing me the appropriate piece of paper, the clerk reached over the counter and tapped the button. That's blatant falsification. When I objected, they got self-righteous. I left, and I don't plan to go back ever. read more

Wingate Pharmacy provides a wonderful community service to a huge area in Northern New England. As a compounding pharmacy, they manufacture both routine and some very hard to get or incredibly expensive medicine. In addition, they also compound drugs for our furry companions, both dogs and cats. We have used them in that veterinary capacity for both our Black Lab and our Tabby cat. Two years ago, our dog tested positive for a tick-born disease and needed a series of strong antibiotics that are extremely hard to get and when available, they tend to be prohibitively expensive. Wingate came to the rescue, manufacturing the strong antibiotic to ensure his well being. The next time came in when our seventeen-year old cat developed seizures. They manufactured a prescription compound of phenobarbital with a tasty flavor for cats that our furry daughter actually enjoyed. As we go through the sunset of her long tenure with us, it is nice to know that their prescription is making possible the continuation of her quality of life that would otherwise not been possible. We are quite impressed with their service. read more

These guys have been a real mixed bag so far. I was referred to Wingates by my vet for compounded medications for my senior cat and I had an inconsistent experience with them, which has led to a major issue running out of meds. I called in for a refill with ten days of lead time, and usually turnaround time is really fast, even if they have to get a refill authorization from my vet. I called on a Saturday and spoke to the pharmacist in person (didn't leave a message) and for the next ten days I was under the impression that my order was being filled. Ten days later, the meds never arrived and we ran out. I called to check on it and the receptionist was professional and apologetic, but told me the order hadn't shipped yet. I was told my message wasn't received until Tuesday (didn't leave a message, I spoke with them directly on the Saturday prior), and that they called my vet for a refill authorization and that call wasn't returns until Thursday. Then they compounded on Friday, but don't ship on Saturday and are closed Sunday. Here it is Monday, ten days later, and I'm out of medication and dealing with a serious problem. I take issue with the fact that the situation was misrepresented when I called to check the status, and that I was not notified of a delay in filling the order at any point in the ten days since placing it. Had I been notified, I would have reached out to the vet myself. Additionally, we pay a crazy amount of money for one day shipping so the pills (treats) don't melt, and yet they have previously arrived in a congealed mess that we have to separate as best we can into the right dose. I can't put this entirely on Wingates, but it's at least 70% their fault. They knew what my timeline was because I always state that when ordering. I have no idea when my script will arrive and feel like I got the runaround. These medications are not cheap, and the shipping is even more expensive, but this is where I was referred so I don't have a lot of options. Just a word of caution, keep an eye on your orders if it's critical you don't miss a dose. My experience has been that it is not safe to trust that the order you placed is actually being filled, which isn't great considering they're a pharmacy... Good luck. read more

I receive reminder calls for refill well in advance of running out, excellent coordination with my vet, follow up calls if needed and prompt shipment always. Called the pharmacy and inquired about CBD oil. The person who answered was so friendly and didn't mind answering all my questions. When I got there, I found the pain cream but was surprised to see a lot of CBD for pets as well. I'm so glad Wingate Compounding Pharmacy carries what I need. read more

I am not a big reviewer but these guys are just AWESOME. They compound my pet meds and just go out of their way regularly to be helpful and kind. Monthly they will call to remind and ask if the refills are needed. This pharmacy is absolutely fantastic. Two years ago a brand prescription for my dog was recalled due to a problem by Novartis. I was worried because it is a medicine for behavior modification and anxiety, and a sudden stop in this medication would wreak havoc on the progress we've made through training and work with a vet behaviorist. I was stunned to learn that there was a local pharmacy specializing in compounded prescriptions. The staff at Wingate's is professional and caring. Everyone is super friendly and I never feel rushed. They take time to answer questions, and will call in advance of my refill to find out how I'm doing on medication. Most recently this week they've switched to compounding only, and I think the change is great! It truly shows that they have a specialty, do a great job with it, and are committed to providing specialized services to the community. I'm glad I can still continue services with them. read more

I was a longtime, loyal customer, but I had to transfer my prescriptions elsewhere. I was treated so horribly by the pharmacist. My prescription was not ready as promised, and he took zero responsibility for this. He was rude and condescending. I will never do business here again. read more

I just called Wingate's and they are now a compounding-only pharmacy. All of their retail prescriptions have been transferred to Rite Aid.

Wingates had my dog's prescription within an hour. I would of had to wait three days for another pharmacy to special order the prescription. My dog did not have that kind of time. They went above and beyond! Will be filling all my prescriptions at Wingates from now on. Can see why they've been in business for over 100 years. read more

Wingate has filled a prescription for my aging kitty for several months now and I cannot say enough good about them! They have excellent customer service! Each month they call me about a week before I am going run out, which is great for those of us that keep meaning to place the refill order but just don't make the call. As far as speed of filing the orders, it initially took 3-4 days (including mailing time) but now with the refills the meds are delivered to me the very next day....including once when the refill order is placed at 4PM!
