Wing Station - Butler Box - Chicken Wings Near Me - Louisville, Kentucky

This place is a walk up, pick up and leave spot. No where to sit so don't expect it. I like giving back to local places. This is one of the spots I like to go when I have time. It usually takes at least 30 minutes for your food to be prepared- heads up. You definitely need to call the order in ahead of time. Sometimes you may not be able to get them on the phone because they stay so busy. You may continuously get the busy signal like I did today. I wrote them on Facebook messenger and they apologized and said that the best bet was to order online. So we did and food was ready when they said. Funny thing is when we walked in, no one was on the phone ‍. I ordered the 10 wing meal that comes with a side and a drink. I get the teriyaki which is my favorite flavor they have. Kind of gives me that Asian zing kind of flavor and I love it on chicken. That's one of the main reasons I go there because not to many people have that flavor. So good! The fries are good too. If you look at my pic, it shows how thick they are. They seem fresh and definitely like no other restaurant I've been to. I've had the sweet potato fries before as well and they are just as thick and delicious. Today, my wings were overcooked. Parts of them were hard and hard to get off the bone. I still ate them because the flavor of teriyaki is so good. I will continue to go back and support because I've been there many times and the chicken was not like that. Probably someone new in the kitchen. read more

Yesterday I placed a order 45 minutes in advance knowing it was a Saturday night and my order may take some time. I get to the restaurant and get my food, take it ALL THE WAY HOME to find out there's NO sauce on my wings! I couldn't call because there's an automated message when you do call during busy times. I had to take my food all the way back to the restaurant to have to wait almost another 30 minutes. I ordered originally all flats and got my box back and had all Drums!! I paid for all flats and feel like the cooks didn't care enough still to read my TICKET!!! This is one of my favorite spots but after last night there was definitely a bad taste left in my mouth! read more

Biggest chicken strips I've ever seen and incredibly tasty. Incredible value and great flavor, really hard to beat.

These were some of the best wings that I have had in a long while from a wing restaurant. They were thoroughly cooked and fully drained of excessive oil and grease before seasoned. We had more than enough for our family of four. The potatoes were interesting not quite cut like I would like but they were still good. Do not expect to walk right in and get your food it will take approximately 20 minutes for them to prepare the food which is fine with me. This is not a sit down restaurant. You will need to order and be prepared to return to your residence or job to consume them. I will return there when in Louisville especially when wanting wings. Lemon pepper was the best flavor of the flavors ordered--Jerk, Buffalo and Lemon Pepper. All of them tasted good and we're not over the top too spicy. read more

I've been craving really good wings lately. I always prefer wings made at a restaurant where that's their focus and it's not necessarily a chain. Wing Station is it. I ordered the Lemon Pepper, as the young lady who took my order said Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan are the most popular flavors. I ordered the 10 (bone in) w/ potatoe salad, carrots and celery sticks with ranch dressing. Split flavors isn't an option with an order of 10; otherwise, have fun choosing more than one flavor to complete your order. This is not an eat-in spot. Strictly a counter for ordering and a small bench style seat to accommodate maybe two or three waiting customers. There was a constant flow of customers in the middle of the week and day. The young lady said hello as I entered the door (and while waiting on another customer), she made good eye contact, and was very friendly and pleasant - all pluses. She told me it'll take 25 minutes for my order. I wasn't expecting this lengthy time, but it's a plus since the wings are made to order. My order was ready in about 20 minutes. She saw me waiting in my car and signaled me my order was ready - that was really nice of her. They accept all major credit cards, including AmEx. Tipping accepted via a tip jar. I had to wait nearly two hours before I had time to eat my wings. I was concerned if they'd taste fresh, good, whatever after that long of sitting. They looked dry when I opened the to-go container...but boy....these wings were not even close to being dry, even after two hours of sitting in my car. The meat was VERY moist, perfectly cooked, and the ultimate good wing...to me....is the crunchiness and not being greasy. The dryness you see is that pure, good ol' crunch. No grease anywhere - not even on the bottom of the container. And...these wings had meat, plenty of meat, on them. Now...the lemon pepper didn't really taste like lemon pepper to me. But the wings still had a nice flavor to them. This is the only downside. The ranch dressing was different and good. It didn't taste like your typical ranch. It was tangy, light, and quite delicious. The vegetables were fresh looking. The potatoe salad was also different in taste. I think it had bacon bits in it..I'm not sure. But it was good and plentiful for an included side item. I will definitely return for these great tasting wings. I hope for consistency in the taste of the wings and the customer service. read more

It was by default, really. My friends and I were kicking it on a Saturday night, in the fall of 2013. We were hungry and debating on what we were going to have for dinner. *Google search: Chicken Wings* Wing Station. Sounds like a winner. Call it in. 100 wings. Several different flavors. When we arrived, the place looked like an absolute dump, sitting right next to a shady-looking liquor store. Walked in - it was exactly that. A dump. Not dirty. Just "basic." Pay money. Get wings. Go home. Ho. Lee. Cow. Unreal isn't the word. These wings changed our lives forever. We got a mixture of Mild, Garlic Parmesan, Jamaican Jerk, Lemon Pepper, Hot BBQ, and Sweet Chili. All were dope, honestly. Faves being the garlic parmesan and lemon pepper. And the other dude ain't lying. These wings are humongous. We've since been back. On several occasions. Result is always the same. Only now getting around to writing this review. But this place is an incredible secret. I don't know anyone else that has been here. Errbody needs to start making an effort to get here, so it stays open for as long as possible. read more

Wing Station - A very unassuming place. Carry-out only. - Chicken Wings Near Me - Louisville, Kentucky

Wow if you like wings you hit the spot here. Fresh and hot went with Teriyaki which seems to be a favorite. I went with the fries which were also really good. Would have gotten better review but the food took too long. I did not call ahead for pickup. read more

I've been going to wing station since 2020 and I absolutely love their hot wings. I always get mine well done. The wings are cooked to order and their sides are made fresh. The wait can be long but it's definitely worth it. read more

This. Place. Is. Busy! I definitely recommend calling ahead if possible, especially on Friday or Saturday night. The wings were good, this place will definitely be my "go to" for wings. I thought the fries were different. I would have preferred some regular crinkly fries or battered fries, but overall a good wing spot. read more

I was craving hot wings, so I went to Wing Station and lucky me they were having their wing special Monday. Wings are 75 cent a piece. For every 5 wings that you order you can pick a different sauce. I ordered 5 medium hot, 5 honey mustard, and fries. I like my wings wet and the honey mustard wings were very wet and the medium didn't have a much sauce as the honey mustard. The wings were very good. The fries were good I just wish they were seasoned a little more. When Wing Station first opened the fries were so good and seasoned, they're not the same now. Now don't get me wrong they are still good. I did a walk-in order so it took about 20 minutes, but you can call your order in, so you don't have to wait. There's no place to sit and eat, so all orders are to go. I can't wait to go back and try more favors. read more

Thanks wife before you order here it's ridiculous. Wings. Formerly the discarded and unloved portion in the family pack (or the finish to Paul McCartney and ... ), has over the course of the last couple decades become a mainstay at parties of all sorts and form, holding court with pizza and nachos as the triumvirate of junk food lords. What was once simply fried or buffaloed, is now a meat of many flavors. You can find wings of various heat, and then from sweet to salty. Formerly exclusive at pizza shops and BW3's, wings can now be found in as simple an arena as Rally's. But who gets wings at a Rally's? Now, while Dixie Highway lacks a certain amount of culinary variety, what it does seem to have is a plethora of wing places. And, I'm sure each place has its own merit, however, the best may be right here at little Wing Station. And by station it is not much more than a space to wait for your carry-out or pick-up, but they're not trying to be a BW3s, they just want to be the place for people to go for their wings, you take the party with you with your order. And, oh, what a party that would be, as these wings are good. Big, meaty and messy, not those pesky little wings you see at many places now, you know the ones which make you wonder when they switched chickens for pigeons, these are wings from Chicken-o-saurus. Plus 12 different flavors (be warned, when they say "Hot", they really mean it) which you can order in sets of 10, a flavor to suit most anyone. Except for that one guy that doesn't like wings. He can eat some celery. Or the sweet potato fries (those are good, too.) - 30 - Oh, one more thing, you might want to stop by the Walgreens or a Krogers and pick up some wet wipes, you're gonna need 'em. read more

Wing Station - Chicken Wings Near Me - Louisville, Kentucky

I tried this wing place because I was working through lunch at a client site in the area and my client actually came and picked up our order. We got 50 pieces of wings, 3 orders of potato salad and their fresh cut fries. I partially blame this on my older client who isn't a foodie for placing this order and picking them up. Dammit, he just got their plain breaded wings. I believe they call these the "southern fried" wings. I prefer the naked wings dipped in various sauces. These wings reminded me of the breaded hooters wings, but smaller. The fresh cut fries are a little unusual here, since they're actually breaded potato wedges!! Pretty fattening actually. Then there is the potato salad which is very moist and watery, with a ton of mustard added. Other reviewers indicated it may have bacon in it, but I didn't taste any. Overall, if I was ever in Louisville again, I'd only come back to try the regular wings with various sauces, and no sides. I just wasn't impressed by the sides I tried. read more

Always amazing! Best wings in Louisville, hands down! They are carryout only, limited standing room inside. Best to order ahead and pick up. On to the food: I've had both traditional and boneless, and I prefer traditional. Deep fried, crispy, and cover in sauce. When it come to sauce, theirs are fresh made. Go with Jamaican jerk, it's salty, spicy, and flavorful. Lemon pepper is great for something more simple. Their sweet chili sauce is an Asian inspired sauce but it a little thin for my liking. For sides, their fresh cut breaded fries are great. Both regular or sweet potato are good. But nothing beats their red skin potato salad. It has bacon in it, and everything is better with bacon. They are a Shively jewel, try them out! read more

Wing station is always good! Lol. My fav go to chicken wing place with the best hot honey drizzle sauce. Next time I order I'll post a pic.

Wing Station is in the heart of the Shively neighborhood, right across from Butler High School. I grew up about 5 blocks from this building, long before it was Wing Station. A coworker, and old neighbor suggested I try it out, so on one of my regular Southend visits, I stopped in. The wings are definitely worth it. You can choose between bone-in or boneless. I was ecstatic when I saw how the boneless wings are made. The cook walked back into the refrigerated section and grabbed some freshly cut chicken breasts that he breaded and fried right in front of me! My food has been super fresh each time I've come here, which meant there was a wait, but it was well worth it. There are about 12 different sauces to choose from. I've tried the Lemon Pepper and Hot BBQ, and both were fantastic. The fries are somewhere in between wedges and regular fries. They are seasoned to perfection. Each meal also comes with a small roll and celery and carrots. The restaurant itself is very small. There is a small waiting area and the large counter where you can hang out and talk after ordering your food. It's setup so that you can see the whole cooking operation. The cook has the fryers and each of the sauces on full display, so you can see your food being made if you're into that. The wait time holds me back from giving this 5 stars. I called about 15 minutes ahead and still waited for another 10 minutes for my food after arriving. The place was sort of busy, but this is the place I would like to see Wing Station improve upon. I would definitely come back here. If you're in the Southend of Louisville and you want a nice carryout meal that doesn't come from a big chain restaurant, then you should check this spot out. read more

This place is right down the street from my grandparents' house, and I went for the first time about two years ago. Ever since then I've been hooked! I do not visit Shively without getting some wings from this place, as they are my favorite wings on the planet. I always get the 10 piece traditional buffalo wings and they are to die for! The sauce is flavorful without being overly spicy and the chicken is always perfectly cooked, never dry. I would recommend this place to anyone and am always looking forward to my next visit! read more

Not bad, food was ready when they said it would be. Looked like I had just missed the evening rush. Young man who answered the phone was sweet and efficient. Answered all of my questions without issues. Explained the different sauces that I asked about. FYI garlic Parmesan isn't the kind you get from bw3s. Chicken was basic but fries and lemonade where really good. Actually the best part. Maybe next time I'll try a different flavor Went back my favorite is the hot bbq, definitely made up for garlic Parmesan mishap. Perfect blend of hot and sweet. read more

Horrible service. I called 4 different times on four different occasions and when they did pick up they put me on hold and then hung up as they were coming back to the phone. So I called again like an idiot. When i finally did get to speak to someone she took my order and said "ok" and hung up. No thank you or none of that. She did not repeat my order back to me, i didn't even know if she got the complete order. And OF COURSE when i got there the order was wrong. They gave me honey mustard when i said jamaican jerk. They swore i said honey mustard which is impossible because i never even knew honey mustard was a flavor option for wings. Dipping sauce yes, wings sauce no. So why would i ever say that. THEN the guy in the back had a big attitude that he had to fix me the correct order. He YELLED at me "I already made those wings! You can't come in here changing it" i was really shocked he was so rude. I wanted to but couldn't argue too much because you never should piss off the person cooking your food. I had to wait another 25 minutes for my correct order of wings. And i'm so scared of what he possibly did to my food because he was so mad. But I already paid for it and i'm pretty sure getting a refund is like a deadly sin here. I'm so disgusted and will never ever ever ever ever ever come back here. read more
