Don't choose the spaghetti. The duck was fatty but lots of flavor! Pork was tasty and a must with rice as well. Lots of good flavors swirling about. It was one of the juiciest ducks I've had in awhile. They also have delicious egg tarts with a melt in your mouth cookie shell. Other items that were pretty good were their stir fried beef noodles and baked pork chop with rice. Some items that weren't great were their curry fish ball noodle soup and satay beef with rice, which were bland. The coffee and milk tea that I ordered tasted only of tea. We also tried their HK style French toast, which was ok but nothing to write home about. Overall, I would come back here for their roast duck and egg tarts. Next time, I'd like to try out their egg dishes and sandwiches.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

Our servers were attentive to our needs. Drinks were promptly refilled. The table was cleared often of empty plates leaving us more room for comfort. We had excellent service. The ambiance was calm and relaxing for it being a large busy restaurant. Everyone could talk with each other in their normal tone. Background music was on point. We will be back at a later date to enjoy our newly discovered gem.

Very well done interior, great for weekend gatherings of small and large groups. Very fast, and attentive service . We got a table immediately and Chrysanthemum Tea was out very soon after we ordered. We got an assortment of dim sum items. Standard but well done! The black fungus salad was refreshing, shiu mai and har gow were well portioned and came out fresh. Chicken feet with spiced appropriately warm and the sauce was the perfect consistency. The fresh mango pudding was adorable and in the shape of little bunnies, a great palate cleanser. Standout dish: my personal favorite is the salted egg yolk lava custard bun, specifically the flaky dough kind. I have been looking all over Houston for one compared to Los Angeles and this is the first place I found that I've done it correctly and they are GIANT. Kudos! For two people, the bill came to be ~$60. It's not cheap, but for an occasional splurge at the quality, worth it.

The decor nails that authentic Chinese feel, with warm lighting and real personality. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down and settle in. The food followed through too. The crispy duck lived up to its name, the chicken in ginger sauce had us going back for more, and the flat noodles with beef and bean sprouts disappeared fast. A few tips if it's your first time. Parking near the entrance is tight, especially on a busy evening, but keep circling because there's a larger lot nearby. This plaza is packed with restaurants and everyone seems to have their favorite spot, so this place is holding its own against some serious competition. My one honest ask would be a little more attention to the bathrooms and floors. Get that cleaned up and the whole experience matches the food. We'll be back, and next time we'll know exactly where to park.

Per our friend, their salt and pepper ribs are the best they've had in Houston, and I would agree. It was crispy, flavorful, and the meat was tender. Yum! Definitely the highlight of the meal. The beef cubes with asparagus and mushrooms was good too. Beef was nice and tender and flavor was good. The house special tofu was a surprise box as it literally had everything in it! There was beef slices, chicken chunks , squid, shrimp, charsu, bamboo in addition to deep fried pieces of tofu. I enjoyed the dish, but maybe because there were too many things in it I would probably try something else next time, before you're not sure which protein you're going to get each time. Sautéed on choy was good as well. I can't comment on the service or ambience since we didn't dine in. However, overall enjoyed the place and would love to return to try other dishes (as well as reorder the salt and pepper ribs.

My friend and I started off with their veggie egg-rolls and popcorn chicken and for the main course I got the beef brisket noodles and my got the their veggie fried rice. So what I didn't like was that the main course came out first before the appetizers but not the end of the world. The veggie egg rolls were not that good, the filling was mushy as if it's wasn't fried long enough, yes it came out piping hot but the texture wasn't it. Visually the popcorn chicken looked a bit pale but taste wise it was good. Light crunch and the chicken itself had flavor, I'll order it again. My soup was exceptional, good spice and it was hot in temperature. The meat was also very tender. My friend fried rice was also good and filling. For the price the portions were very generous. Overall, it was solid. Definitely not the best but good enough for me to come back and try their claypot dishes, I think they're known for that. The dining room was full when we arrived, and there was a very small wait. It was pretty noisy in there with the full house. Between the two of us, we ordered four dishes-- the steamed sole, salt and pepper pork chop, Kung Pao chicken, and beef with gailan. The Kung Pao was probably my least favorite. It was very salty, and the chicken was white meat and a bit dry. The beef and gailan was fine but maybe a bit one dimensional. The pork chops were tasty and a slight bit sweet. The steamed sole was quite nice. It is definitely a fan favorite here and took a bit longer to arrive than the rest of the dishes. Just be wary of the plentiful small bones. Overall a good place I would visit again given the great pricing. I give the edge to Confucius Seafood though for their lunch specials. While a bit more expensive, the dishes are executed better.
