They were in early stages of service on my first trip. Definitely going back. The potato salad was weak.

This review is for the Paramount location. I got a few items: Dino rib, pork ribs, brisket, sausage, mac and cheese and corn bread. I'll start with the positives. The mac and cheese and corn bread were decent. Also they took 15 minutes to give me all the varied food I ordered which should have been my red flag to run, but I decided to live dangerously and was punished severely for it. Now on to the travesty, the meat. The theme for today was dry, old and shameless. The pork was somehow undercooked and dry. Which if you can endure the cruelty, is actually kind of impressive. The brisket resembled beef jerky. I'm including pictures of the brisket since those speak much more eloquently than I can. I love to cook and I infamously over season my dishes. But all these meats were at a whole another level. Not salty but aggressively peppery and just ham handed. The rub was flavorful but it blew out my palette instantly. Please take this to heart: less is more. In terms of meat quality? Cheap. My Dad is a butcher, I can tell. Everything being reheated did the meat quality no favors either. The seasoning was further exacerbated because the ribs, both dino and pork, were almost entirely bone. So you have a ton of seasoning on a lick of meat. It was a recipe for disaster. And price? Expensive, especially for what I received. Insulting for what I received. I'll end it here. I don't want to waste your time like this place wasted mine.

It was rich, flavorful, and actually tasted homemade. The BBQ was impressive, smoky, tender, and seasoned just right. I really enjoyed it. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor. Good BBQ is hard to find in LA, but this spot gives you that "Dad or your uncle in the backyard on the grill" kind of vibe. Real, comforting, home-style food. Stop by and support a brother!

Whatever you do don't order from this place ONLINE! I had…read moreordered from Robert Earl"s earlier and got ribs with baked beans. They were out of Mac and cheese so I thought I would get Mac and cheese from Johnson's on my way home. I called them to ask if they took online orders and explained to the guy who answered that I had an electronic debit card as to explain why I asked . He said yes I could order online or over the phone . In the interim he gave the phone to some woman who kept me on hold so long that by the time she got back on the phone I had already ordered online. She confirmed my order but after hanging up I noticed the online app they use predicted a ridiculous amount of time to prepare the order (45 minutes). I was only 5 minutes away but stationary. So I called back and asked the lady how long it would take she said 15 minutes, I gave them 20 . When I got there and explained that I ordered online. Not only did I learn that the order wasn't ready but the guy at the window had the audacity to say if I had placed a phone order it would have been 15 minutes but otherwise they go by the app's time. And what his staff person told me when I called "was In error". How stupid is that? The whole premise of fast food is that it's fast. Secondly, you are willing to put online customers on the back burner based on an apps time and not real time? I looked at this man as if to say'Is that your final answer?" I don't see a line out here? Bruh it's your business, stand on it, I'm going to be about mine's. I had ordered extra food to support Black business, because remember I already had a plate in the car from Robert Earls. I pulled off and left without the food and didn't look back. Its bought sense for me. Buyer BEWARE.

The restaurant itself is small but mighty, with a cozy feel and a menu that delivers. Everything is made to order, and they offer a rotating selection of local craft beers, which is a nice touch if you like trying something new. We ordered the spicy Korean wings, and thankfully they were not overly spicy, making them easy to enjoy. The real standout, though, was the Blvd burger. It was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their burgers. Overall, the prices were better than most places, especially considering the quality. Definitely worth a visit.

PARKING There's a parking lot on the east side, about 1-2 addresses down. I could see how it could fill up, but there was plenty of parking on a Thursday night! SERVICE Tbh service was a bit slow with limited workers, but it didn't bother us. The worker did come up multiple times to place orders, clear out dishes, and bring out boxes. DRINKS Pleasantly surprised by number of local draft beer options, soju cocktails, and a few wines. The soju cocktails taste good and surprisingly creeps up to you.. it doesn't taste that strong! FOOD Fantastic!! Surprised at such great quality for a gastropub. The Guacho Grinder is a steak sandwich w/ Chimichurri on a soft french roll - beware the sandwich does fall apart when eating but it's so worth it! Very clean and friendly community! Highly recommend!

It also came with some warm corn tortillas as well as some fresh and spicy salsa. They also gifted 2 cans of orange Fanta. This meal turned into 4 amazing meals for us...and the chicken tasted even better the next day. This is a family business with two locations - we went to the one on Rosecrans (the other is nearby on Long Beach Blvd). Upon parking in their lot, we could see the smoke from their grill... we knew this was gonna be good! There are a few tables inside but we noticed that most take it "to go". We stood in line and then we were promptly helped by their efficient staff. In addition to chicken, there are also fish and beef items. There is also macaroni and potato salad for salad choices. Next time I wanna try the potato salad. We took our order home and thoroughly enjoyed the taste and quality of their grilled chicken. Although it is similar to El Pollo Loco, it is somehow different...it's weird but I can't explain it. As we left the restaurant with our very full bag of items, we noticed that the line grew and was snaking out the door. Definitely a testament to this great neighborhood gem!
