The young lady grabbed a wine opener from a box and proceeded to ring up the opener. The co-worker advised the cashier to ask a guy who was walking towards the front of the store. The cashier explained that she needed to ring up the opener. The guy asked her where she got the opener from?! The cashier pointed to a box of openers behind her. The guy then looked at me and said, "we don't have any wine openers for sale." I stood there for a good minute in disbelief as I saw an entire box of openers behind the cashier who tried to sell me one. Don't what nonsense is going on at this store. This is the second class we've attended at the Cherry Hill location. They always have a robust calendar of monthly events, many of which are only $20 per person. So reasonable! You must purchase your tickets in advance (online). Seating is open (classroom style) and they provide light refreshments at the start of the event (meats, cheeses, fruit, and crackers). I am a big proponent of hydration and they have tons of water on hand. The classes are led by Total Wine and More employees and each person has their own unique style. They normally start with a PowerPoint presentation about the featured wines, and then wine sipping begins shortly thereafter. Our only "gripe" is the time it takes for the wine glasses to be filled. They have one person filling the glasses, and when the class is packed, it takes them a while to get to everyone. This disrupts the flow of the session. It may be beneficial to begin filling the glasses at the start of the class, rather than just as we are about to begin tasting. That aside, we always walk away feeling like we learned something valuable and fun. They offer nice discounts if you decide to purchase the wines you sampled. They in no way pressure you to purchase anything you tasted. We look forward to attending additional events!

They also have cheap mixers. I once paid $4 for a tiny bottle of tabasco at a liquor store. Not at Canals! They only charge $2. You can also get the little lemon and lime juices for under $1. I haven't done an in depth comparison, but it appears that most of their mixes are cheaper than what you would find in a grocery store. They also sell Dirty Sue olive juice. If you are as obsessed with dirty martinis as I am, this is a life changer! They also have a small tap selection for filing growlers. You can sample the current selection as long as you are getting a growler filled. The prices are typically between $12-$20 depending on the abv and rarity of the beer. In terms of other beers, they have a wide variety. You can grab a $4-$6 six-pack of a cheap domestic or you can pay a bit more for a nice craft six-pack. Typically those range from $8-$12.
