Housley seemed to fit the bill--good reviews, dog-friendly (we had her dog with us), and what seemed to be a reasonable tasting price. We get there and we realize it's owned by Tamera Mowry (who is now Mowry-Housley!) There's a picture of her and her husband (a former baseball player) in the window. We're sort-of starstruck. Shortly after, her husband (and the winery's owner) Adam walks up with their daughter and asks us how we're doing. We continue to be starstruck. Service was wonderful. Seating was comfy. The views weren't the best (we were drinking on the sidewalk and there's a parklet too.) The 5 wines for $29 was not bad, but the size of the pours was lacking. The first pour was the smallest and then slowly they seemed to give us more (maybe they heard me!) Honestly, the pricier wines tasted better. I had made a reservation for my partner's birthday and left notes on my reservation in case they were able to do anything for him. Not only did they give us two mini cups of wine, they also comped the tiramisu as a gift. It goes to show how attentive and extraordinary the staff and their service is. This restaurant would have to be one of the best restaurants I've been to with such amazing service. The dungeness crab arancini was so flavorful and crisp, not a single part of it was soggy (aside from the inside). The sauce brought the whole dish together and I was pleasantly surprised to taste how well the parmesan cheese went with the entire dish. The short rib was also truly amazing. It was so tender and paired really well with every single aspect of the dish. The short rib is definitely a must-have for anyone who hasn't ordered it yet. I will say, the 12oz ribeye did unfortunately fall short. It looked like it was cooked perfectly with a crispy crust on the exterior but it ended up being a little too tough to chew and cooked too much (we had ordered medium rare and it was cooked to medium well). My partner enjoyed his sides at least and we traded dishes halfway through so he can also enjoy the short rib. But the whole experience made up for that shortcoming! As for the dessert, both were incredible. You can't mess up a vanilla affogato so we enjoyed it tremendously, it was refreshing to have after eating all that meat. As for the tiramisu, it was so good that we wished we could have a whole tray of it. It paired so perfectly with the strawberry and was so delicious. Words can't explain how good the tiramisu tasted. The staff as I've mentioned before is unrivaled. Leslie, Kat, Kelly, and Ben make each visit special. It's more than just the magnificent wines and their knowledge. We really enjoy speaking with them and hearing their insights on the local area, plus just general life talk. We were pleased to meet a new member today, Alyssa, who will be replacing Ben as Tasting Manager. Ben is moving on to other things with AO. Alyssa was nice enough to come over and speak with us, and I feel she going to be a welcome addition to the Collective. For the first-time reader of one of my AO reviews, this location is incredible. Pefectly placed on the corner of the main drag. The heart of Downtown Napa for any of our visits. Excellent for relaxing and people watching. The room is gorgeous and maintained beautifully. It was after they moved the tables inside and the kitchen was closed. There is also outdoor seating. You can sit at a table and a server comes around or you can also just order at the bar. They have 2 restrooms and they clear it out with a DJ and dance floor. They have hard alcohol in addition to wines and the wine bar. It's located kind of in the middle of buildings but there's plenty of street parking not too far away and some parking garages or parking lots that are walking distance. I also tried the Mucha Lucha w/ cilantro infused Siete Leguas Blanco, chorizo infused mezcal and cubes made of hot sauce that make the drink have a bit more of a kick as you allow them to melt. I did the HH chips and guac which was also accompanied with a tasty Chipotle sauce. Damn good actually. It'd be excellent served in a variety of ways. The deviled eggs aren't going to blow your mind, but I like that you get 4 different ones- and simply because I love eggs, I'd order them again. (They just wouldn't be a dish that brings me back).
