The end result of our charcuterie boards!

Had an amazing time at their recent charcuterie board class Friday evening. We had a great teacher who was informative, knowledgeable and very helpful. I will definitely take another class here.

The Cary Wine & Design is a fun place to spend the afternoon or the evening. The staff is very friendly when you arrive and they even send an email reminding you of class that day and with other useful information about the class. The studio has two rooms for painting, a larger one in the back and a smaller space up front. When you arrive, there will be an apron, brushes, a cup of water to rinse the brushes, at least two napkins and a plate of paint. Classes run around $35 for a class. There are specialty classes that are more but that will be clear when you register. They do run specials from time to time as well. Class starts with an introduction about what to expect for the night, how to clean the brushes, how to hold the brushes to achieve certain results etc. The introduction varies on the instructor as they each have their own way to explain. During classes music is played and the artist demonstrates what we are to do. The artists will help if we get stuck or missed a step. The atmosphere is fun and I enjoy creating my own artwork. The time goes by quickly and it is great to see the painting come together at the end. I've taken classes in Cary with Bethany, Ryan and Richard. But I am confident that all the instructors are fantastic and I look forward to taking classes with more of the artists..

We had an amazing time at Wine & Design in Cary and definitely want to return. It is a great way to unwind, have fun with friends, make new friends, and create a nice painting for your house. Our instructor was very friendly, enthusiastic, prepared, and talented! She was easily able to fix any mistakes that we made when we asked for her help. She also incorporated games/contests in the event which made the night even more fun. No worries if you feel that you are not good at painting or are not creative. I have a very limited amount of creativity yet was able to make a nice lighthouse painting!

My family and I attended tonight and we had a wonderful time. Marianne and Craig were patient and very helpful. We left with finished products and some of us were inspired to do more. They were also very accommodating with our novice artists who wanted to start with a blank canvas. Gotta love a great time!! Thanks you two.

This is my 2nd paint and sip experience but the first time at this studio. I had a blast along with some other ladies during an afternoon class for the painting of "Bae", which is a portrait of a beautiful black woman with an afro. I love big hair, so when I heard of this class, I had to be there! This studio may appear small from the outside but is huge on the inside. I walked past a party in the front to get to the class in the back. Check in was organized and I was advised where my group would be seating. Waiting for me was an apron, three paint brushes and canvas ready for me to paint. I was pleasantly surprised to see the canvas was not blank but was lightly outlined with what we were going to paint. My party host had a nice set up on a side table of snacks (mini sandwiches, hummus, chips, crackers cheese, fresh grapes/strawberries) to go with wine that we all bought to the studio. At Wine and Design it's BYOB..bring your own bottle of wine..to enjoy while painting. I loved the atmosphere of this studio. The pre-selected music playing had us all singing along while we sipped and painted. Faves from Maxwell, Lauren Hill, Erykah Badu, some oldie but goodies RnB were in rotation. Our instructor was very easy to follow and the flow of the class went well. No matter what was needed: more paint, extra paper towels, clean water..you name it and a staff member was there to get it for you. It appeared to be a sold out class with 3 tables and ten to each table. I guessing aproximately 30 ladies were painting. Class lasted for 3 hours. A bit longer than I expected but hey....time flies when you are having fun! Wine and Design's motto is sign up, show up, sip up and Paint! That's exactly what me and some girlfriends did on a Saturday for a girls night out and we had a whole lot of fun! I would recommend this business as a fun thing to do in Cary. There are also other locations thruout the Triangle. They book private parties too and this would be a great idea for a date for two, a moms night out, celebrating a birthday or just anytime you want to express yourself and release your creative juices!

I got to spend the morning and the afternoon here with 3 of my girlfriends celebrating my birthday. Such a fun idea! We got to paint, relax and catch up. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. The instructors are awesome and always ready to help and even teach you a thing or two. I enjoyed learning a few new techniques. You can bring your drink of choice and a snack to enjoy while you're painting. I can't wait to come here again very soon

Cary, NC Wine and Design is a gem! All of the employees, from the owners to the artists, are so welcoming and accommodating. The local artists, Bethany and Annie, were so professional and at the same time encouraging, so helpful and kind. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again to create another masterpiece! (After I finish putting the finishing touches on my sweet Stanley! )

This was an amazing experience we had fun the entire time. The artist who shooter is how to paint expllained evverytbing in full detail and the music was great. It helped make us feel comfortable painting. Because I am a artist I love to draw but I'm a horrible painter but this class taught me how to paint better. It was fun and exciting I can't wait to go again!

Tried one of their classes for the first time last night at Fullsteam Brewery in Durham. So here is how it works. You can view what paintings they are doing and when on their website calendar. You pay in advance( I paid through pay pal) and just show up! There were two ladies last night at the event, I wish I could remember their names, sweethearts they were. All the supplies are there for you along with an apron so you don't have to worry about getting paint on your clothes. The painting we did cost $35, tax included. They gave step by step instructions and even "helped" you when you mess up! They played some fun music during the class and asked you if you need anything, more paint, questions, ideas etc.... I didn't feel rushed and had a blast with my girlfriends. I can't wait to do another one. *Fullsteam does not serve food but there was a food truck on site and when you signed in they gave you a coupon for a couple bucks off. I thought that was a nice touch.

My first painting with wine & design was couple of years back at a corporate event. I had thoroughly enjoyed it and have been wanting to do this activity with my husband. As time passed, we end doing painting separately and very recently I found about the light up wine bottle painting. Such an unique concept and an event was perfectly timed for our anniversary. This seemed different than the canvas painting as each of us worked on our own design. I loved that we had more flexibility..... We worked on a design unique to our occasion. Our instructors very helpful and guided us very well along the way. I was totally impressed by how this company is coming up with innovative painting concepts like wine bottle painting and wooden block painting to name a few. I've always taken their classes at an event outside and would love to visit their studio to see what they have to offer.

I visited Wine and Design when I went to visit a friend in North Carolina. I had been to similar places in Jersey and this was just as fun. The instructors were so patient as I got drunk with my friend and tried to pain Monet's bridge. The room is spacious and they let you bring anything from wine to food. One group almost had a real party full of drinks and apps! Upon arrival, our canvas was outlined so you knew what and where to start your painting, though you still had free range to create as you pleased. There are tons of options for paintings and a full wall of artwork you can purchase as well. Such a fun place for a girls night out or even a date night. For someone with zero artistic talent, it's a great place to create your own little "masterpiece."

Group Photo taken at the end!
    Toni A.

I joined my husband and his coworkers here for some art therapy. How it works is you bring your own beverages and snacks. You can come individually or with a group. Everyone has their own photo canvas matte. From there, the instructor guides through the watercolor process. And if you paint happy [I did], the instructor will magically make it look better. It's a must for all ages!! Adults can feel like kids again!!

Our nice display of nibbles and libations..

My interest was instantly piqued because I had been searching for art opportunities that didn't seem so basic for my young artist. Every other option (except one that pushed for full day when I wanted a half day opportunity) I had found offered for her age group before KidzArt had "cute themes" and was basically just drawing or painting on paper, nothing seemed special or specialized for that matter - I couldn't even find a class that offered basic sculpture with clay for my kindergarten kid! When I saw the course/camp offerings here, I was actually excited that this might be something that would work for my kid! There are TONS of different options for camps (both during the summer and for track out) for ages starting at 6 - the Town of Cary classes that seemed like they may draw in my child weren't available until she is 8 years old (the ones offered for her age group just seemed too basic for her abilities). I was thrilled to see that just after the studio opened and on my kiddo's track out there was an illustration and cartooning camp offered - perfect! So far, she has created a lot of great art: some in a sort of "wine an design" but for kids (without wine of course) style following the instruction of the teacher, and some free art of her own cartooning and illustration. There are many materials for the kids to experiment with here and an opportunity for free art time too. The owner and instructors are very knowledgeable about art and also work very well with the children of varying ages - they seem to genuinely care about the kids and get to know them. We also signed up for some classes here outside of the track out camp she is taking. The variety is great and my kiddo seems to find inspiration from the lessons as well as from the other kids in the class. I really wanted an opportunity for her to experiment with more materials and to learn some techniques she could apply to her own art - this studio provides exactly that! She's already learned some strategies with watercolor and shadow that have popped up in her other work (just like how after reading a specific book she will mimic the art style in her new art), and has requested time to work with clay which she hasn't ever really had a desire to do until now. She is really enjoying her experience at camp and definitely seems to be inspired by it! The studio itself is clean, open, and bright. The materials are well maintained, and it is overall a great place for young artists to grow! I'm excited to find more classes to continue to inspire my kiddo - she is also very excited to check out other themes here too!

The building is beautiful. When you walk in you're surrounded by art of all types: ceramic, fibers,…read morewood, painting, etc. Parking is easy if you have an NCSU parking pass or it's after 5pm. Here's the reason why the Crafts Center earned this one star review. I enrolled in the beginning sewing class taught by Roberta. Roberta wasn't able to effectively teach all 8 students at once in my experience. For some students she was incredibly attentive and they (first time sewist) finished fabulous projects such as a jacket with set in sleeves. My experience was very different. Roberta could not help me read a beginner pattern (pull on Pietra shorts from Closet Core Patterns), shamed me for not using a Big 4 pattern (which I don't fit into for bust and hips so that wasn't an option) and making a muslin (which is super necessary for my body proportions to check fit), couldn't pivot to tell me how to adjust for high (15") waist/hip difference, or help me learn (in the last class) to sew a basic zigzag stitch. There were constant issues with the equipment in the room and basic supplies such as seam rippers were not provided (Roberta never told us to purchase them, so when I needed a seam ripper during class and there was none, I had to leave to go purchase one). Roberta chose not to wear a mask during the first session of the class (~January 2022) during an Omicron surge. I asked over email several times to talk to someone about this class so that no one else would have to have the atrocious experiences I did. They said that they reminded Roberta about the mask policy and suggested that I talk to someone at the front desk but for the two subsequent classes, there wasn't anyone at the front desk when I arrived to the building. Roberta apologized at the end of the class for not being able to teach me but the bigger question is why would the Crafts Center hire a teacher that can only teach some, but not all, students? The Crafts Center charged me $95 for class where I learned absolutely nothing. I could say you get what you pay for but in this case I paid for getting nothing. Future students should know that the Crafts Center has a zero refund policy once the class starts. Save yourself time and hassle by taking a beginning sewing class somewhere else that actually is invested in teaching *all* students with folks who are good teachers, not just good artisans.
