a wine bar with bottles of wine on the shelves

What an utter disappointment. 1) Came here during posted business hours, but the place was closed! I knocked for about 5 minutes, then 1 of the employees came out and said she just closed early because there were no customers for the past few hours. When I asked her if this information was listed anywhere (facebook, twitter, website, phone message), she said no. I'm pretty sure this is a great way to prevent potential customers from ever coming back. How can I ever be sure the place will be open or closed on a whim. 2) Came on a Sunday=Closed 3) Finally! I got here on my third try! I only tried this hard because I had a livingsocial coupon to use (and we all know their return policies stink). The deal came with 2 glasses of wine and a cheese plate. The wine was tasty, but that's probably because Wine 121 had no part in it. On the other hand, they did have part in the cheese plate. All of the cheeses were absolutely tasteless. Might as well stop at the corner gas station and get something better. Okay, I take that back. They had a blue cheese that was everything you'd expect. BUT no! Of course I couldn't just revel in this one cheese that was tasty, because I bit into a piece of aluminum foil as I was eating it. When I told the waitress about the foil, she specifically said it was not her who was responsible and threw her hands in the air. When I asked who was responsible, she told it me it was the day time employee (will keep his name private), since he prepares the cheese plates. Now, I'm really okay with oopsies, since everyone makes mistakes. But really? Really? Did she just blame a fellow co-worker for the issue? As someone who has worked as a waitress, I believe that employees should work as a team to help the business thrive. Not to start throwing blame on each other when a problem arises. After this well-rounded horrible experience at Wine 121, I'd say to save a few extra bucks and go to the nicer wine bar down the street at "Corkscrew Wine and Cheese"

This is hands down one of the coolest liquor stores to stop by. I think what makes it even better…read moreis knowing it used to be a Toys "R" Us and they've kept subtle nods to it throughout the store. Whenever we need to stock up, this is our go-to because of the huge selection. Whether you're looking for liquor, wine, or something new to try, they truly have so many options. We love just wandering the aisles and seeing what unique bottles or seasonal finds they have in stock. The employees are always friendly and helpful anytime we have questions or need recommendations. Right when you walk in, there's also a small bar area (which we still need to try!). Such a cool touch that makes it feel more like an experience than just a quick shopping trip. I highly recommend stopping by to check out their selection. It's a great place to stock up, find something new, or even turn it into a fun afternoon or date night stop.

Great place to come find pretty much anything you need and want. Huge selection of bourbon,…read morewhiskey, and scotch. Great wine selection, a particularly great sparkling wine area. They have a bar right inside the store and you can either hang out and watch the TVs or talk, or peruse the store with your drink. We can usually find hard to find bourbons here and they always have my favorite Thanksgiving wine, Beaujolais nouveau. Lots of seasonal picks too! Huge beer selection, both cold from the coolers and out in the store. This store is much bigger and has more selections than the one downtown.

Well I was embarrassingly surprised at the quality of bourbons that they had behind the counter. Let's face it, If you're looking for anything Buffaloe Trace, or Heaven Hill etc... They have it! You may ask then why the low rating score?... Well, If you're into paying 200% and upwards over msrp for a bottle of liquor, then this is the place for you. I am not sure how this place survives with competing grocers and other well established sprit shops within 15-20 minutes of each other that carry the same brands. In some instances you may have to enter a raffle for the Wellers, Pappy's etc. But you would never pay 200% over msrp, which let's be honest - this is probably the worst price gouging in the state! Before someone states "that's business 101" I understand that they are in business to make a buck! But charging over $300 for a $35-50 bottle of bourbon? This is some type of slum-lord ownership that I personally would not mind seeing close its doors - which probaby will not happen bc everyone needs their hooch!

The former owner introduced her to the Napa winemakers. She knows them now. John, the former owner, got me a reservation to The French Laundry back in the last century and before it was famous. I really like the Napa map on the wall. Helpful. If you want a special wine or something that you can't get elsewhere, this is the place. But I pulled one over on her; much to my surprise. She didn't know that the Staglin Family Vineyard was a location in "The Parent Trap." Staglin is a beautiful property with some impressive art work. I didn't think Staglin wines were sold in Omaha. Next time in, I will get a bottle of The Special Reserve from Parker Knoll.

Derek pretty much nailed the atmosphere of the place, as well as John. I would encourage people to…read moretake advantage of John, as he certainly knows his stuff. OWC focuses on California wines, and they have probably 2-3 times the number of CA (as well as russian river valley, etc.) wines as those from overseas. However, I disagree that OWC is always more expensive. I have found several wines there at lower prices than I was able to buy direct from the winery when in Napa. Further, while the stock there tends toward the $25-60 dollar range, every time I have been there I have picked up a couple $15 "everyday" wines that have been really good. This place is easily the best wine store in the Metro.

A great spot to grab some higher-end beer, wine and spirits. If the fancy stuff isn't for you,…read moreyou'll find standards like Miller Lite and Yellow Tail here too. I ended up with a sixer of Mexicali beer, which I had never seen before. For $6, it wasn't a bad price for this straight forward Mexican pilsner. The clerk was friendly, even a bit surly with an off-kilter sense of humor. Heck, most places like this don't know how to size me up because I take my sweet time browsing the shelves. This on top of the fact that I look like I'm 18 even though I'm 33. I get sick of being ID'd all the damn time, but I suppose there are worse problems to have. Anyway, if you're looking for primo adult beverages and are in/around Ralston, definitely check out Park Drive Bottle Shop.

Sitting next to the Kahlúa was another bottle a few dollars cheaper named caballero. Not sure what the liquor was, I asked the gentleman working there if it was an off brand of Kahlúa. He said yes it is. After taking it home I open the bottle expecting it to have that coffee flavor in the dark brown coloring, only to find it a look her light brown translucent liquid. Unfortunately it was nowhere near the flavor of Kahlúa, it was more similar to amaretto, with a hint of cinnamon and other spices. Not at all what I was looking for. I will say it is not that bad, and I actually somewhat enjoy it. But it was not it all what I was wanting that night. Something else I noticed by the register that I had never seen there in the past, or small little one hitter weed pipes. I later found out that brewskis no longer owns the bottle shop and it's sold it to somebody else. Definitely will not be coming back to this location ever again. If you're going to sell a product and somebody asks you a question about the product, you should probably know what you're talking about when you respond to the customer. Along with that I don't condone the fact they're selling the paraphernalia in the store. This location seems to. Have gone down the same route as those mega gas stations in the Omaha area that sell cell phones and drug paraphernalia in them as well. My suggestion is to go to someplace like the Hy-Vee liquor store, they seem to know more about the product and have better suggestions for customers.
