They were pretty busy with reservations when we arrived so we sat at the bar. They have happy hour from 3-6 Wednesday- Friday and all day Sunday. They have a separate happy hour menu with bites and a couple different wines. There main menus does consist of wines from multiple regions of the world. They also have wine flights for you to sample new things . My wife and I ordered the meat balls and the cellar cut flat bread . The meat ball's were very tender with excellent flavor and are served with a marinara sauce and ricotta cheese. It's also accompanied by two slices of garlic bread. The Flat bread was a nice portion size for two . It is meant for those who love cheese as the mozzarella and feta are very present. The meat portion could be a bit more for me ( I'm a carnivore). The dough was nice and airy and the flatbread overall was tasty. The feta was a bit too much for my taste. Could have done less. I started with the GSM and my wife with the Cab Sav from happy hour . The GSM was flavorful, a little bold, but a little bitter to me. The Cabernet was very fruity and full bodied . We tried a couple other wines that were spot on. This is a nice place to have wine with friends and bites. It is a nice size and has an excellent atmosphere. Very nice decor and bright. We will be back !

Their happy hour is one of the best in town. The food is so delicious (we especially love the red pepper soup!). The wine selection is huge! Finally, the service is top notch. Both Tiffany and Heather are great, and the owner Kim is so engaging! You feel welcome the second you come through the door and you can tell a lot of love went into the restaurant's creation. I will say the Sunday all day happy hour and trivia game is a bit too crowded and noisy for me. So I'll stick to the other evenings in the future. And I'm gonna tell all my friends about this great place!

I also tried their jalapeño cheese flatbread and it was quite tasty. They have really nice selection of wines and small plate appetizers so if you're in the area stop on by for a relaxing evening.

Great staff who are always cool and accommodating, even for us and our baby. NOT TO MENTION the entire bar is actually built right inside/next to an upscale furniture design company called Finishing Touches. So you can literally be drinking a refreshing rosé one minute and strolling through elegant home furnishings, materials, and decorations. It's a one-of-a-kind place that deserves a visit. FOOD: Apps have been great so far, not very large portions, but quality food and ingredients with superb plating. Just look at the guac pic bro come on. That along with the Jocoque dip (amazing with pieces of flatbread) and the Strawberry Burrata are some of our faves. DRINKS: Bread and butter at this place, wine list is fantastic. Not overly or ridiculously long like some places where it's just overwhelming, but they contain just the right amount of options to have something for everyone. Stuff from many countries, a robust California and Italian selection (which we almost always love these regions) and even a few options from local vineyards like the William Chris cab we enjoyed. OVERALL GREAT PLACE! Cost is slightly high m, but overall competitive because you definitely receive a classy, elevated experience from great people who care for the craft. Check it out

As local residents who were eager to finally visit, our experience was disappointing, revealing a…read morenumber of issues that detract from the establishment's potential. Deficiencies in Service and First Impressions The initial experience upon arrival immediately set a negative tone. There was no staff presence at the door, and no clear, written signage indicating the proper protocol for seating--whether to wait, check in, or simply seat oneself. This lack of guidance forces guests into an awkward uncertainty, which is unacceptable for any hospitality business. After finding our own way to the covered patio, we observed servers casually chatting amongst themselves while intermittently looking in our direction. A more professional approach would involve staff being observant and quickly moving to acknowledge and seat new arrivals. When a server finally approached our table, the interaction was severely lacking in basic professional etiquette: * No greeting was offered. * No menus (drink or food) were provided. * The only opening line was an abrupt inquiry: "Are you ready to order?" These omissions suggest a fundamental lack of staff training in business etiquette and basic customer service procedures. A proper initial interaction should involve a warm welcome, an introduction of the server, and the immediate presentation of menus. Operational and Marketing Misalignment A major deficiency is the misalignment between the bar's online presence and its current operational reality. The website prominently states, "DRINK. EAT. VISIT.," creating an expectation that a food menu is available. We were informed by the server that the cook had quit and no food items were available. This is a critical failure in both operations and marketing transparency. The website must be immediately updated to reflect the current operating posture and manage customer expectations. The suggested workaround--ordering food from Fralo's Pizza next door--while a temporary solution, begs the question of why a patron wouldn't just choose to go to Fralo's directly. This situation undermines bar301's identity as a full-service establishment. Limited Offerings and Infrastructure Issues Further disappointment arose regarding the beverage service. Upon ordering frozen margaritas, we were informed that the bar does not prepare frozen margaritas. For an establishment specializing in drinks, a common and popular request like a frozen margarita should either be available or clearly noted as unavailable before ordering, especially given the lack of a drink menu. Beyond service, the physical space itself presents an issue. The location appeared unappealing and partially rundown. While the primary product is the experience, the ambiance is a critical component. Management needs to make a tangible effort to improve the aesthetic appeal and overall maintenance of the space to create a more inviting and lasting impression. Conclusion and Recommendations Our visit was cut short, as the cumulative impact of these deficiencies led us to seek an alternative venue (Silo Oyster Bar) where we anticipated a more professional and competent service standard. To improve customer experience and ensure long-term viability, bar301 management must immediately implement the following: * Mandatory Staff Training: Institute comprehensive training on basic business etiquette, professional greeting protocols, menu presentation, and proper table service. * Operational Transparency: Immediately update the website and any external marketing materials to accurately reflect the current food service status. * Front-of-House Management: Establish a clear and well-communicated seating protocol, including a dedicated host or signage for customer guidance upon entry. * Facility Upgrades: Invest in improving the appeal and maintenance of the space to align the physical environment with the perceived quality of a San Antonio destination. Addressing these critical points will be essential to make a better and lasting impression on both local and visiting customers.

Like top 3 in SA (that being said trilogy in the same plaza is also on the list). The charcuterie left a little to be desired, it's the Trader Joe's 3 pack of meats, 3 cheeses and a jam and jalapeños...frankly for $28 I expect more and more variety. But also...every day until 6 or 7 it's buy one get one half off all food. So I'm just pretending the charcuterie was $14 as the pizza we got was very good and well worth the $24. And my wife got a glass of wine for $8 and it was a very heavy pour. So just over $60 with tip and we brought home leftovers. We will be back! But I'd skip the charcuterie.
