Left my range finder there. When I called in someone had turned it in. The guy in the pro shop wrote my name down and added it to a sticky note on the range finder. Went in to grab the finder and they could not find it. New pro shop guy said someone had picked it up on my behalf. I told him nobody had gotten it for me. He said that's too bad. He said there was nothing he could do. I asked them if there was anything he could do. Nope. Bunch of idiots. That was a $500 range finder. read more

Full of themselves. Out of date. They won't allow hitting balls on the range in a nice, plain, athletic T-shirt. No consideration of the quality of the apparel. Yet they allow sloppy, untucked, unbuttoned collared shirts that aren't designed for golf. The dude behind the desk was indifferent and too busy looking at the computer screen to even engage in a customer-friendly and sympathetic discussion. Pretty nice course but minimum 5 hour round on the weekend. Way overbooked. But other than that can't really complain .

My most frequented golf course due to location and price. It's only 15 minutes from home and the green fees are middle of the road. The course itself is an open layout without an overwhelming amount of trees, sand traps, and water hazards. They also have some short par 4s and 5s for chances at ego boosting birdies including #17 which can be reached in one shot. Par 3 #6 sometimes has a person taking wagers for hitting the green with your tee shot. You can wager $5-$200. The overall condition of the fairways and greens are very good considering the price point. I haven't had any problems with slow play at this course so the marshals probably do a good job of keeping us hackers at a good pace. I believe the business website and other sites have coupons every now and then for lower green fees so keep an eye out. read more

Windrose Golf Club is a fabulous public golf course!!!! Everything is extremely well run! it is a public course and so it is busier than private and semi-private courses. However, tee times are scheduled very well. Tournaments are well organized. There are spectacular junior groups for children of various ages conducted be fabulous instructors. There is a great senior men's group that plays weekly and is very welcoming. There is a phenomenal Player Development Program where beginners as well as experienced players can learn and practice with an extraordinary instructor. There are weekly ladies games and monthly ladies play days that are great for learning with incredible instructors, time for practicing and meeting other lady golfers of all levels. Great events like Wacky Wednesdays and Senior Fun Days are fun for all. The food is fantastic! The service and pride of the employees in every area is superb!! I HIGHLY recommend Windrose Golf Club. The course is decent for the price, and if I was rating it based on the value and maintenance it would be four stars. Yet, this review is based on the management. A dead bag of rats could manage the place more effectively. We booked two foursomes for the Tuesday prior to thanksgiving. We arrived 30 minutes early, checked in, and paid. Upon getting our receipt, we were told that we would get our carts soon. Every time one became available, it was taken by someone with a later tee time. Management did nothing. We complained and no one helped. The starter couldn't even muster up an excuse. Finally the Course manager said they didn't have enough carts to accommodate all the golfers. WTF?!? After missing our tee times, and others going In front of us, we got our carts. Just 30 min late. So, we played 14 holes before it got dark. Could we have finished? Well, I'd we teed off on time and they didn't let a twosome hold back all the golfers (a father was teaching his daughter to play ... on a holiday week). No impressed by the management team or policies. Pay a little extra and go to another course. You'll have less stress and likely finish your round. read more

I played there on the last Thursday in September. Course was in excellent condition - tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Truly exceptional. If you want to play a 5 hour round on a Thursday morning, this is the place for you! Absolutely ridiculous! Some idiot thought it would be a good idea to let a fivesome off at 9am. A really SLOW fivesome! A really SLOW fivesome that would not let anyone play through! No one in front of them at all. The marshal was useless! Crap like this really costs a golf course money! Very poor management! So, if you have all day to play, the course is very nice. read more

Still a great layout, as in some really nice holes visually. But the greens looks acid etched throughout the entire course. I still cant believe such a nice course is more run down than a municipal. The fairways are bumpy and full of divots, and there are no cart services through the round. This place needs a make over, bad! read more

Been a while (May of 2017) since I played here, although it's nearby. The new owners have made a lot of improvements around the clubhouse, but I haven't seen the course itself. A few problems for me here: 1. The course is a little overpriced, and they are not on GolfNow, so no way to get the green fees down even with senior discount. I just go to course that's farther away but just as good but far cheaper with GolfNow. 2. The course is too crowded for my taste. I like an uncontested roll, and just looking at the overcrowded parking lot chases me away. Otherwise, it's a pleasant course, and I would play during the week if they would get the price point in the mid-$20s during the week. 3. Previous employees less friendly than most. Never smile, seem annoyed. Last May the new people were a mite friendlier, but not much. read more

Excellent value in the PDP program! Course is in great shape, except the bunkers. As with any public course, it could use a little more effort from the patrons. Traps are not rakes, ball marks not repaired, and divots are not sanded. Not everybody is guilty, regulars seem to be more diligent. My only other negative is the lack of restroom facilities except the clubhouse. It is nice to be old enough to play senior tees, especially on the par threes. The course is in very good shape, but the one continual problem this course has is pace of play. I have been playing here since it originally opened and I have never gotten around the course in under 4 hours. It isn't a long course nor incredibly difficult. A large number of people who play here are oblivious of the etiquette that makes this game unique and the marshal talk the game, but nothing ever happens. We had a tee time this morning for 9:15, get there early, and find we are already being pushed back which means they have overbooked with walk-ons. What makes it worse is two of the groups in front of us are fivesomes. Don't take tee times if you aren't going to go by them and stop overbooking. Two of our foursome dropped out due to time conflicts and we finished just short of five hours. Miserable pace of play and it makes it very, very difficult to get into any type of flow. I will just drive the extra distance and either save some money playing Cypress or pay a bit more to play Tradition at Cypresswood. Regularly get around under four hours there despite the traffic. read more

This course is close to my new home. I have driven by here dozens of times and not even noticed it. But, I was looking to get out someplace new and not too far from home, and found it on Google maps. The rating should probably be 3.5. But, alas that is not an option. So, they get the benefit of the system! The layout is pretty good. This time of year it is a little tougher to judge conditions. But, the greens were really nice, especially considering that everything is pretty much dormant. I wish that I had found this earlier in the year. I didn't play the tips and should have. The degree of difficulty was not too threatening from the second set of tee boxes. That isn't a bad thing, as it allows for players of all abilities to find there appropriate tee box and have fun. They have a nice driving range and practice area. And a 'halfway house' snack bar with window service. I do agree with one of the previous reviews in one regard, the gentleman in the pro shop, while not rude at all, just wasn't congenial. I play a lot and all over the place. It's a point of contact with the 'face' of the golf course, and you expect some one that is pretty friendly and helpful, not just a cashier. I'll play here again. I frequent this course quite a bit, you might as well say this is my primary course. I've been play with the same group of 4 for roughly 2 years now and within a 10 day period I've spent $270 at windrose. With that said, I'm a little disappointed in the way I was treated this past weekend. I was on the 4th hole in the middle of the fairway. The group ahead of me just drove off from the green. There was a group behind me waiting to tee off. The group behind them who had just teed off on the third approached me in their golf cart on the fairway while I was lining up my next shot. TERRY and RANDY (who apparently work at windrose, playing a free round of golf on their off time) approached me and said "Hey we work here and you and your group need to speed up, you're holding everyone up behind you". Rather than creating an argument and informing them the group ahead of me just drove off from the green, and our group starting 7 minutes late due the Marshall dropping the ball, I just said "no problem". The more I thought about this, the more I became upset and thought I should have said something. 1. The Marshall started us 7 minutes late, not our fault. 2. We were keeping pace. 3. Where's the etiquette? Two guys who work there, playing a round of golf for free telling me I need to hurry up after spending $120 for the day? I thought this was a gentlemen sport. You missed the bar on that one Terry and Randy. Regardless, we notified the ON DUTY Marshall who reported back to us. Anyway, I understand Windrose is under new ownership. If that's the case maybe they should get rid of the old help otherwise this type of entitlement attitude by the "work here" guys will run good loyal customers off (Augusta Pines is just down the road...fyi). My wife & I are both seniors and was offered a special rate off of their website the price was fantastic $25.00 ea. including cart and one beverage. The greens were in great shape and so were the fairway's. The most impressive thing I found was the fact that for a Friday afternoon the cart girls were out. I don't see that on many courses around the Houston area. I'll play this course again especially at these prices. read more
