We had to have our sump pump re-routed to the outside, washer hooked up to the appropriate sewer line, AND an ejector pump with new utility sink installed. Tom and his team were great! They responded to my call and visited the premises on the same day, gave me a quote that evening, and scheduled service in a timely manner; nothing but professionalism from this place. 5 stars! read more

I had three different drain issues. The plumber was able to fix two out of three. He worked on the last one for quite a while, but he was unsuccessful. He did recommend someone else to come out, which I appreciate. They aren't cheap, but they were available for the same day. read more

Rip Off Artists! Claim they give free estimates and then when you contact them they want $159.00 to come out except if you need your sewer pipe snaked. Of course this paves the way for them to give you an estimate that could be very high just to get the $159.00. Find another plumber. Luckily an honest plumber called me just as I was ready to hang up with these thieves. Don't know why it says I live in California. I am literally 5 minutes from this place in Nutley, NJ. read more

Woke up without heat this morning and it was 27 outside. Called before 8am and they sent Tyler out 10 minutes later. He was quick, courteous, and very thorough. Heat restored within an hour. Awesome job! Definitely call them if you have issues. Thank you again for the wonderful service! read more

Marco was excellent and fixed my clogged shower in 20 minutes. He was very professional and courteous, giving advice on preventing such a clog in the future. Would be 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive. Over $200 for a clogged shower, and 20 minutes of work, using an electric auger to remove the debris is quite a lot. But the service was very speedy and good read more

I write reviews with caution as they can both help or hurt a company. I had a new bathroom created from scratch and Windheim did all my plumbing. Definitely not the cheapest or most expensive but most important they took time to do it correct and actually showed up. Everything didn't go perfect because such as life things can go wrong. Here is the most important part of my review!!!! Tom made sure in the end everything was perfect and was accountable for his work. There is always temptation to point fingers and shy away from corrections and this was a stand up guy. A man of his word. My past experience with contractors in general has been if it doesn't go smooth its someone else's fault and they disappear. The work is great and super important you can trust they will do right by you. read more

Prompt, professional and courteous service. Elliot and Marco were awesome! Have been a customer for several years - always satisfied.

We had just moved into a new house and had a few things that needed repair. Windheim was able to send Keith over that morning and he was great! Not only was he quick, professional, and proficient, but he explained our options on each repair, even if it was something he could not do. Highly recommend it read more

I had Marco from Windheim Plumbing this week to do two repairs. Both were done in a careful and swift way. One was a repair that needed a new toilet, and Marco returned to do an expert installation. He was very thorough, and left our home in excellent condition. I would recommend this company. read more

They don't break out costs in parts + labor which is my biggest gripe. For a simple repair that will take a short time this is not a good deal for the clients but for a bigger job like installation it may make more sense. Also they could be cheaper on the estimates which are $85 incl tax -- maybe more like $60 for up to an hour would more reasonable (in this case the estimate took 15 mins) when the national chains do it for free. I always feel good about paying a little more to support small business in my neighborhood -- we all have to make a living -- but since the pricing was not transparent I couldn't tell if I was being totally ripped off or not. They were apologetic about this but I was not comfortable to proceed. The way I see it I paid them $85 to give me the kick in the a** to do it myself! Lesson learned. read more

They took advantage of my elderly father in Nutley. Charged $316 to replace a flush valve on a toilet. This is a 15 minute job with part cost of less than $25. And the next day the toilet runs intermittently!!!!!! Never again. read more

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT! With regard to price, friendliness, ease of transaction, and customer service. I can't say it more plain than, I LOVE THEM!!! I would not go to anyone else other than them. Don't bother going in to the yellow pages like I have before, closing my eyes and pointing to a spot to call a plumber I didn't know. If you go with Windheim, you will be completely satisfied!!! read more

Nobody likes to have to call a plumber, but when you do, you want one that treats you decently. The only reason its 4 stars and not 5, is that they have a one hour minimum and no free estimate. I can understand it, because they have to come to my house. That being said, when they get there, they do their best to get in and out in a fast time, they treat your house with respect (guy even asked me if he wanted me to take his boots off in our mudroom - this was a very nice touch). He wasnt a salesman, didn't try to push stuff on me that I didnt want, or could do without. He might have gotten an extra $50.00 off of me had he done that, but probably would have lost me as a repeat customer. Smart business. They were upfront about the cost of the hourly rate on the phone, so even though there was no onsite estimate, i knew what i was going to paying before I said yes. If I need a plumber again, I will definitely be going back. read more

$79 to come give you a quote. Contractors do not charge for quotes and if you believe otherwise, you are a fool and sucker for using them. It is standard practice to get 3 bids before hiring a contractor. They are basically counting on you not to do that so there are essentially targetting the uneducated/uninformed customer. I've also used this place for emergency calls and they were obnoxiously expensive. By far the most expensive plumbers I've ever worked with. read more

Completely satisfied in every way. Windheim was courteous, prompt, fixed only what needed fixing, without padding the bill, service tech was friendly, and service was VERY REASONABLY PRICED. So easy. So pleasant! I won't use anyone else from now on. read more

Last week I was experiencing a toilet that wasn't flushing properly in my downstairs bathroom. Upon flushing, the water would fill to the brim and then drain out slowly back to normal. My husband works over an hour away and decided to contact this company as they are located in town and didn't want me to not have use of the downstairs bathroom with 2 small kids at home. The gentleman showed up, snake (I assume?) in hand and I showed him what was happening. He flushed the toilet and turned on the sink. He told me that if the toilet was clogged, that it would be overflowing with the sink on. He never once attempted to plunge or further check for a clog. He opened the back of the tank and told me that we could replace the guts of the toilet, for a few hundred dollars, but that would be a waste. He then suggested that we replace the entire toilet because, and I quote, "It's a no name brand." I called my husband on speaker so he could talk to the gentleman as well. My husband explained that it wasn't quite making sense and he asked him to check a bit further. We went downstairs and I showed him the pipes in the basement, still on speaker with my husband we were told there was no clog because he could hear water running through the pipes. My husband asked a few more questions about the possibility of just a clog and was told that the "diagnostic" he performed was how they get started. We asked for the invoice for the visit and that was it. The invoice clearly states "no clog" along with his suggested repairs. Suffice to say, my husband came home from work later that evening, gave the toilet one good plunge and voila! Water drained out normal and no issues since. I decided to call them yesterday, a week later, just to make them aware of what happened. I spoke to the owner, let him know that I did not expect a refund, and he did not dispute my claims. He did let me know that he did not want to have an unsatisfied customer, so that they would apply and $85 credit to my account to go toward future services. While I appreciate the gesture, we certainly would not consider using them again. I just wanted to share our experience. read more

Windheim Plumbing & Heating - Plumbing Near Me - Nutley, New Jersey

Very competent and professional plumbers. Their quote wasn't the lowest, but they did top notch work that I'd happily pay a bit more for, their followup and punctuality was perfect, and they didn't give me a hard time when I asked to have a permit pulled, as a couple of other plumbers did. Contrary to the experience of one of the other reviewers, the estimate on my job was free - perhaps because it wasn't a service call, but was an installation of new equipment. read more

Recently I woke up to a leaking hot water heater and It was clear the unit needed to be replaced. I called Windheim Plumbing and spoke with Tommy who was able to quote me a price over the phone and had a guy out to my house in less than 30 minutes. Tyler, the installer, couldn't have been more helpful. He was able to drain the old unit with zero mess, which wasn't an easy task being it was 14 years old and corroded. He was more than happy to answer my questions throughout the install process and took the time to show me how to operate the new unit once it was installed. What could have been a disaster turned into a minor inconvenience and I was back with hot water before lunch. Service like this will keep me returning to Windheim for any future plumbing and heating issues. read more

These guys at Windheim have LITERALLY been around 100 years and i have known of them a long time as well. You can expect them to be timely, and get the work done without any questions. They have also made some reccomendations that have saved me a few bucks along the way by doing the job the right way. They are the only game in Essex/bergen County area as far as I am concerned. Here are some of the things Windheim has done for me(im sure i am forgetting some): -converted my heat system from oil to gas -Pipe Snaking -Replacing some old sink drains that were literally 60 years old and completely blocked - installation of some new water and gas lines for a new bathroom, fridge water line for ice, and also they relocated my washer/dryer to better locations as well - i even sent them to my grandmothers house when she had a heat problem Working with them will save you headaches. read more

Not Recommend. Spring 2018. Issue: Leaking bathtub faucet. I was told there was an 80.00 fee to show up & give an estimate and that fee will be applied to the cost of the job. The quote was $483.00 Yikes! I refused the offer of repair and did the job myself for a cost of 20.00 and 20 minuets of my time. There are times when being ripped off is more damaging then others. Charging near 100.00 bucks to be told we want to overcharge you by hundreds more is extremely unfair to the consumer. I did not have the money to throw away on a business who's MO is guilded by the opportunist mindset of Windeim's ownership. What a lousy world it would be if all business owners allowed themselves such behavior to the communities they are apart of. read more

These guys are great! Fast and friendly service. Let's face it,...nobody wants to have to call up service people but if you must you want them to show up, do a thorough job, & give you a fair price. These guys did just that plus they stand behind there work. Two thumbs up! read more

They came highly recommended from a close friend and they did not disappoint. I worked with Tom to have his team repair a service line at my parents house and it couldn't have gone better. He was incredibly helpful and clear about the work being done. He was fast to get back to me whenever I had a question and worked with us on cost. My parents were incredibly pleased with his work. Would use them again in the future without question. read more

I found Windheim Plumbing after frantically calling around trying to find someone to come out to fix my leaky shower the same day. They were very friendly on the phone and assured me that they would be able to come out to look at the shower that day. The plumbers (Marco and Phil) arrived at the time that I was given, and were very friendly and courteous. They took obvious care and there was clear pride in their work. I was given upfront pricing for everything and the repair was done quickly and efficiently. I really liked that I had the option to pay by cash, check or credit card as well. They saved me from having no shower for a weekend that we are having house guests and I am so grateful. I would definitely use them again. read more

"incompetent staff" a simple "clogged kitchen drain" is what we were dealing with here- the worker sent out made an absolute mess in my kitchen! this guy snaked the drain.... nada! left my home (for over an hour) to go back to the shop to pick up a much larger version... once again... nothing! no success with both attempts! he tells me that he had to stop the job otherwise this could potentially hurt the pipes in the wall that you could clearly hear him working on?? end result: $300. later.... he tells me is owed to the company for "his work"... (unsuccessful attempts" to unclog my drain.... (it gets better.....) "his recommendation".... (to cut a hole in my living room wall in an effort to snake the drain from the other side of the wall)??? the price tag on this.... ballpark.... $800. - $900.!!! question here "windheim plumbing".... what competent plumber snakes a kitchen drain at a "starting point" from "underneath the sink"???? who does this??? i don't know what was worse about my experience with your company.... the incompetence. how to do the job. the sloppy job.... where his attempt to "blow out the lines" using an open container and a single rag.... which sprayed the "contents of the pipes", filth, etc. all over my kitchen!!! just the photos alone- will turn your head in another direction. the bad advice. unnecessary tearing down of the home. ladies.... "stay away from this company". take my advice- (not one word of this is exaggerated) the final: i had an "competent as well as honest" plumber come to do the repair.... (it was real simple) the job....20 minutes. (from start to finish) the cost of the job.... $150. done! unbelievable. read more

My water supply line needed to be replaced, it was a repair I was dreading. Not just because of the cost but all of the work it required on the property (excavation, re-paving, etc.) I thought it would be a horror story. But, thanks to the referral I received for Windheim Plumbing it was an uneventful experience. They were professional, clean and efficient. The job was started and finished on time without incident. I highly recommend them! read more

Don't ever use them. Supposed to be here for a main drain at 4:00 PM on Friday and did not show up until 7:45. Told me at 8:15 PM that he needed a special snake and would be back on Saturday around 12:00 PM. At 1:30 I still hadn't even gotten a phone call, at 4:05 PM they told me they could not come, only after I called them. They said I was the first appointment on Sunday between 10, and 11. After two calls, at 1:45 I still have no response. Mind You, this was to fix a drain that wasn't fixed correctly three weeks prior. So unless your looking for the worst service possible. Call my grandmother, she can do it faster. read more

It was very bad customer service. I called them in early morning for the problem of the heater. Our garage door was opened. Workers of the company without anyone's permission started investigating the heater. My wife came downstairs due to the noise in the garage. The asking price was 25% more estimated. My wife asked them to call me to discuss the technical problems as well as the price. The owner stated that he called, but he never did. I called them immediately after they left without any notification. The owner told that he can provide service the following day. Please stay away from this company, very rude and unprofessional. read more

Go elsewhere if you want the plumbing job done right. This place doesn't even bother to follow a town's permit regulations which are put in place to make sure THEIR work is done right. Even the township is ware of this establishment because of all the unregulated jobs. J.E. Conklin in Nutley offer a much more dependable service and follows town guidelines to the letter. But if you're looking for a plumber that works in your home and make a big mess purposely so you have to bring in their "recommended" contractor than look no further. read more

Avoid this plumbing company !! They totally rip you off!! They have a new system whereby there is a flat fee for services. I had a leaky toilet and it cost $293 for the repair. The plumber took about five or 10 minutes to fix and replace two minor plastic parts. When I asked why the repair was so costly, I was told that is the price according to the "book". I have used Windheim in the past and they were quite reasonable and fair. I will never use them again and neither should you unless you ask what the "book " fee is before you schedule an appointment. read more

Have used this plumber for a long time, over 20 years! Service used to be professional and reasonable. For a long time have felt that some of the costs seemed to be a bit high. The last time we called them I found the cost extremely high. They quoted my husband over $500 (with a 10% discount) to replace a broken water pipe less than 1 1/2 ft in length. It required capping the pipe (temporarily) where it broke, and then adding the new pipe with valve. It was a straight line from the basement through the same hole and to the deck. I called the office to question the charge and was told they charge by the job, and the plumber would call me back. No one called. The next day the plumber called to return to make the repair and I expressed my disappointment. He volunteered that they charge $225/hour! He had collected $208 from us the day before for coming out and capping the pipe. I told them we were done and that they would never step foot in my house again. I am not a plumber but knew that this was entirely too much to pay for this service. I called a new plumber who made the repair for $160! I asked how much it would have been if he capped the pipe first and he said the whole job would have been $160! read more
