It's always a good time skiing at Windham Mountain. My husband and I have been coming up to Windham for the last 7 years. We most recently were here on Friday for the day.
Unfortunately, they no longer sell discount tickets on Liftopia, so we were definitely disappointed. My husband was able to purchase a discounted lift ticket from our B&B (Albergo Allegria). So, he saved $10 off the regular price. I wasn't able to do that since I needed to rent skis and poles. So, I opted for the $89 option which includes a lower mountain lift ticket, equipment rentals, and a group lesson. For what I needed, this was the best option. And when I went for my lesson, there weren't too many people there, so I ended up getting a private lesson with Don "Coach". He was awesome and really helped build my confidence back up since I hadn't been on skis in a few years (the last time we were up here I was nursing a sprained ankle, so hubby skied solo while I camped out in the lodge). He reinforced techniques and was very thorough.
Since the last time we were there, they changed some things around. They no longer have the big bins you can rent to store your gear in. Instead, they have installed new lockers that are connected to a ATM like machine. You select the locker size you want (they have 3 sizes available) and then it assigns you a locker and lets you pick a 4 digit pin. Since the hubby and I both have Boot Bags for our ski boots, we decided to get the largest locker. It was $12 and easily fit 2 large Boot Bags. Many people opt to just leave their boot bags in cubbies in the lodge, but for $12 this gave me piece of mind that our stuff would still be there when we got back. They also added 3 changing rooms near the lockers. This is probably my favorite addition. This makes things so much simpler. I was able to strip down and change out of my ski clothes and there is even a bench in there to sit on. In previous years, I was forced to change in the ladies room, which really lacks privacy. It was difficult in the tiny stalls, even difficult in the handicap stall. So, props on the changing rooms! I am a huge fan.
The hubby and I brought a few drinks with us and some light snacks (grapes, chips, pretzels, etc.) The food they sell is alright, nothing great, but it's certainly pricey. We bought a Chili ($5.99) and a Turkey Wrap ($10.99). It's expensive, but they have the market cornered. My recommendation is to bring a cooler with pre-made sandwiches or salads.
They offer a variety of trails for any skill level. The snow was nicely groomed and perfect for skiing when we were there. read more
