I had no intention of eating all three at the same time. Loved the top two layers of the raspberry dessert. Would have preferred the bottom to be soft vs the chocolate crunch. In fact, it was so hard I could barely get my fork through. I took a bite of the double chocolate gluten free cookie. Kind of like a shortbread cookie with filling. Not much to say about this. I like gluten. A chocolate chip cookie. Not a tough one. It was dry and I swear it was sitting in that jar for 4 days. Total bummer. I threw it away. The piece of cake and coffee came right away to counter. I sat down. Then about 5 minutes passed and my two cookies just showed up. I went back up to ask the guy at counter for them. Wouldn't you think he could have brought to me since it was not busy and he made me wait or maybe just forgot about me. It is time to repaint and tidy up. As for the baked goods. Needs a major step up to make it. If I can't get a chocolate chip cookie that I would eat. Total loss. I pride myself of being positive for reviews. I just can't with this one.

Many of their breads are rotated through the week. Check their website of their daily breads. The majority of their pastries are available everyday. I inquired of staff that if they're always sold out why they don't just make more With attitude she said to me "well we always sell out at seven in the morning." I was then informed, that if they made more, they would just sell out at 7 AM anyhow, and that I should show up before 7 AM to get in line before they open. If you regularly run out of a product, a smart business person would make more. Overall, when I've had them their products are good. The breads and pastries are awesome However, the snarky attitude from the staff is unacceptable. I will definitely minimize the number of times I come to the store because of their frequent morning stockouts on products.

It had such a nice aroma, wasn't overly sweet, and the texture was perfectly soft. Maybe I just got lucky that day, but the scone was clearly freshly baked. I saved some for later, and when I ate the rest around 9 p.m., it was still moist and soft! Most scones would have already gotten dry and crumbly by then. Unfortunately, I don't think the coffee drinks here are as good as they used to be. Now they're more like... just alright coffee. I used to be a big fan of the old version Coco Brew. I tried their Old Maple Brew, but I wasn't impressed. The iced matcha was also just okay, nothing really better than what you'd get at Starbucks. But I'd absolutely come back for that scone! (And please don't change the recipe this time. Still mourning for the old version of Coco Brew. ) I also tried their Quiche. It tasted good and the out layers were crispy. You might want to ask the cashier to warm it for you; they don't always offer it voluntarily. This season it was very nice to sit at their outside tea tables, especially around noon or early afternoon. The shades and the sunlight would bring nice dapples.

Panaderia Evita is a true hidden gem in the neighborhood!…read more Panaderia Evita is the type of bakery that if you walked too fast you would miss it. I came across Panaderia Evita during a random walk through Rodgers Park and I'm so happy I stop in that day. The staff is friendly and always speaks when I visit. The inside is spacious and clean not much investment into the decor but the food makes up for it. There are a ton of bakeries along the same block but the pastries from Panaderia Evita stand out from the rest. The homemade donuts are unbelievable! Pastries from the sugar donuts to the Conchas are so sweet and fluffy. I have yet to have a bad pastry from Panaderia Evita! I highly recommend trying the donuts because they're so fluffy and test so fresh. I haven't had a fresh donut like the ones at Panaderia Evita even at places dedicated to donuts.

I didn't look at the reviews beforehand and honestly just went in based on how the bread looked. To be honest, the conchas didn't really catch my eye. They looked a little different from what we're used to eating and less concha paste and burnt so I decided not to buy any. Instead we got two orejas and two campechanas and they were VERY delicious. The lady working the register was also very nice and welcoming which made the experience even better. Sometimes it's fun to stop at places you come across while walking around, and I'm glad we gave this place a try. The orejas and campechanas were definitely worth it and the friendly service was a plus. I'd come back to try some other pastries.
