I was able to find a study carrel where I could power up laptops and get some work done (and Yelp reviews written) instead of trying to work from the van when it's just too darned hot. Plenty of space, lots of different areas to sit and study including some rooms that could be reserved. You do not need to be a local resident to use the library, only to borrow materials. I understand it may be your 50th time answering the same question that day but that's not a patron's fault... passive aggressive and rude for no reason very disappointing. The Gwinnett Public Library and libraries in general are a wonderful place to read, get work done…read morein a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. They have a kid friendly area here where children of all ages can go to find a plethora of books and also they have a weekly reading time which is also nice for the kids. Their free use computers for adults and children are great. Sometimes the kids will be on the computers for a long time though, so if that happens you can kindly remind them or or their parents their a time limit for computer use when other kids are waiting to use them. Library cards are free and they allow you to renew books, videos, cds via the Internet, phone call, or at the location itself. It took less than 5 minutes to receive my card and I found out the library offers lots of complimentary services, clubs, and workshops for adults and I look forward to enjoying them and meeting new people.

This is a lovely library that just oozes Southern charm. A sunny day makes you want to get a book…read moreand sit on the wraparound porch on a rocking chair, but any other type of weather makes for an equally enjoyable visit when you go indoors and have an opportunity to browse their well-stocked and well-organized book selection, as well as talk to the super friendly and helpful staff. I adore taking my youngsters there for story and music time every week b/c the librarians are so attentive, cheerful and engaging w/ all ages. (That goes for myself as an adult too, as I've gone in there on a number of occasions w/ a zillion "I need reading recommendations!!" questions.) I love that within a stone's throw of the library is a tiny bakery where you can pick up a cupcake or a sandwich, and I hope that they increase their hours of operations b/c they are closed pretty frequently. Book + pastry + coffee = YAY. In this age of e-readers (and yes, I am an avid reader on my Kindle and take full advantage of the library's online lending program!), having an actual library to walk into and other readers to talk to face-to-face may seem antiquated, but it really is a terrific thing for a town to have a sense of community and shared delight over reading.

We were applying for our passports at this location thinking they wouldn't be busy, and it seems so was everyone else. With only one lady up front that knew how to process them, she was patient with each and everyone making sure everything was in order. Library is clean and welcoming. My boys enjoyed being there and had problem waiting with us. It took over an hour but we read, colored, and busy ourselves with their little activities. They also had books and dvds for sell which I need to go back to browse. Price ranged from 50 sents to two dollars.

There is a strong chance they might have the show or movie on DVD! DeKalb County Public Libraries have now extended their DVD loan period to 3 weeks, same as books, which is much appreciated. I actually came to this Clarkston branch since they had a particular disc that I was looking for; you can check the online catalog to see what's available. The main parking lot is behind the library, and the entrance is to the side. The driveway to the lot is narrow so drive slowly. The building shows its age and it's not the biggest location, but it's still a pleasant library. The restrooms were clean (though there were some empty cigarette packs at the back of the building), and the other patrons were well-behaved. It was easy enough for me to locate the DVD area and find what I needed. The guy at the circulation desk wasn't the friendliest, oh well. Don't forget your mask since they're required. If you are a monster who doesn't like books, periodicals, and multimedia (kidding), you still should stop by the Clarkston Library to admire its enormous stunning hibiscuses! Whoa, gorgeous.

Nice library! I came…read moreto the Dekalb county Public library in Clarkston to study on a Friday afternoon, and this was one of the better libraries i've been to. Nope, it's not as technologically advanced as other locations, but it is clean, there is space for studying and it's actually quiet! If anyone has kept up with my reviews on libraries, my biggest beef has always been someone was loud and disruptive, but on this day, I was relatively undisturbed....outside of the guy next to me who asked me if he could borrow a pen. The library isn't the largest one i've been to, but there's a respectable amount of books and computer stations, both immediately in front of you as you walk in, and to the left of you. The entire right side of the library is the children's area. All the way to the far left there's about 5 cubicles for studying, as well as a few chairs as well. Several Tables are also found while walking to this area. On this day most of the cubicles were empty, so I was able to take a spot in the padded chairs and get to work. One cool thing about the cubicles is they all come with their own individual lamps, for the late night studying ( only mon-wed...they close at 5pm thurs - sat), a nice little touch I haven't seen any other library branch do yet. 30 minutes before the library is to close, they alert you via loud speaker, and continue to do so every 10 minutes until it closes, so you don't have to worry about not being alerted of it's closure. Parking at the library is interesting. There is a parking lot to the left of the library, but the actual "library only" parking is at the rear of the library itself (turn right into the library lot and follow the road around). It's a smallish lot, being able to hold less than 20 cars and likely less than that. Getting in or out of this lot in either direction isn't too tough. I definitely like this library. It's small, not the most technological, but it does what a library should do....keep a quiet atmosphere and for learning. What can I say? I'm a fan!
