I like this WinCo quite a bit. I don't visit it as frequently as the cedar hills and corn pass stores just bc it's a bit more out of the way, but I do like that (for the times that I've visited) it is never as crowded as those other locations. Aisles seem slightly wider and there's just more breathing room. I used the self checkout, and maybe bc it was midday and the store wasn't busy, I didn't get hassled about my probably over-the-limit item count. Bulk bins ftw! read more

The prices are good, but the homeless stealing items and the store not doing anything about it is raising the prices for everyone in the community. The management needs to grow a pair and stop anyone who is suspected of stealing, and ESPECIALLY homeless people who aren't going to buy anything - EVER, but will just steal what they want. You can spot them within the first 5 seconds after they walk in! Why hire a full-time security person to make sure that the thieves don't just rip off the store and then exit through the shopping cart entrance? The store would save many thousands of dollars every month and the customers would thank you. This kind of seems like a no-brainer, right? read more

I had a good experience here today. I have not been to Winco in over ten years but wanted to try it to see the cost compared to Safeway and Fred Meyers. There was so much selection. The prices were great. The Humm Kombucha we usually get was 75 cents cheaper at Winco and they had a ton of the flavor that usually has none everywhere else. I didn't know they didn't take credit cards, which is fine and now I know. I can buy groceries and not get airline miles. I also can buy groceries and not get gas rewards too. We will just start coming here monthly for our big grocery trips and fill in with other places we love where we get certain things Winco doesn't carry. I also forgot you have to bag your own groceries, but that was fine, I had to at Fred Meyers the other day since they don't have staff too anymore. Store was not hard to get around and not overly packed and tons of selection with great prices and good parking. The lines were not bad and the line goes pretty quick since they send groceries down to two people for bagging so it doesn't get back logged. FYI: No credit cards. Bag your own groceries. read more

This has been a go-to for many years... in fact I have history here, as this was the site of the old K-Mart I worked at in high school many years ago... sorry, i digress... Overall a good value, lower prices, but with that are some trade-offs. No Credit cards, only debit. And many items that are lower calorie or healthier are either not carried or dropped. What major store does not carry 50 calorie orange juice? Winco. Whipped Peanut butter, Gone. Diet Cran-grape, gone... But they are open 24 hours, early shopping is easy, just remember they are stocking before 6am and stuff is everywhere. but easy to shop and get out quickly. read more

The 2 stars is purely because they do have a very good selection of items that are definitely cheaper per item when you compare them to markets like Safeway Or even grocery outlet. What I am not enjoying is the increasingly Militant attitude of the people who work there and power tripping About the 15 items or less in the self check out. I mean I totally get it if it's busy and somebody is taking advantage of the fifteen items or less andis using more of a line than that's one thing. What is ridiculous is when you go in and there is nobody at the self Check out and the Woman who works at the little stand near the self.Check out , just cannot wait to rip over there as fast as possible and look at your Cart and then lecture you for having more than fifteen items. This happened to me last week and so I go to the regular check out and they are Moving slow asthma lasses and only have one freaking line open when there is like Nine registers. So they force you into this long ass Is line of people when they are Severely understaffed and then won't let you use The self check out If you have more than fifteen items even when no one is in line at the self check out. Having moved, I'm pleased to find this Winco being close. I'm also very happy to find that most things are laid out in the same place as my old store and I can find things easily. Hands down, I believe the lowest prices for groceries in most cases. Yes, they don't take credit cards and you have to bag your own groceries, but I believe the price savings are worth it. So far, I think the checkers were nicer and faster at my old store, so we will see how it goes, but when I consider the savings, the major chains will bust the budget. The reputation of this side of town is the best, but I was pleasantly surprised going here. Clean, efficient (mostly) and had what I needed. Definitely will be shopping here. read more

Parking? Forget about it Crowds? You betcha! Bag your own groceries? You know it! Wait in line for 30+ min to pay for said groceries? Heck yes. Save a few bucks? Probably. The ONLY time I will venture into a WinCo is if I have to buy a ton of groceries that I know by going there, will save at least $20+. It has to be for this reason only. Their prices are decent on most items, their procduce is horrific for the most part. If you are going to buy packaged foods/goods it's actually pretty well stocked. You will for certain save money on items such as Cereal, Cheeses, Frozen goods, Beer/Wine, and bulk foods. Since it's open 24 hours, I would highly recommend coming late at night or very early morning if you can. This way you can avoid the parking hazords and long lines. read more

The manager here has very poor customer service skills. I road my bike to this location from forest Grove to get some laundry soap and water. I Asked very nicely if I could charge my bicycle light since it had died So I could get home safely on my 5 mile bike commute back home. I was told NO. I had the charger necessary to plug into one of there many outlets I found in the store NOT being used. when confronting the manager and asking why I couldn't use the any of their outlets and expressed I was concerned for my safety riding in the dark . she immediately was aggressive and told me that it was against the company policy for anyone to use the outlets and I needed to leave. I Paid for my laundry soup and water. when I told them they have no concern for the safety of the customers who shop here at winco and to my surprise the manager looked at me and said thats right I do not! She then called the cops on me for trespassing after I just purchased my items.. again terrible customer service. Poor communication. the manager was very aggressive and would not stop getting in my personal space and yelling . winco needs to put the safety and satisfaction of their customers first. This store has great prices, but they have let the lines get so long-- and we already have to bag everything ourselves. They don't take credit cards either which very inconvenient. The checkers are always friendly and give my kids stickers when they are fussing. Then again, if stores quit putting sweets in the checkout lanes, there would be less whining. The have the best prices for many items. The produce is the best within 15 miles as well as being the best priced within 8 miles. The deli meat prices are very good as are some of the brands of meat - quality ranges and you can get gluten free deli meat for 5.99 to 6.99lb Dairy is cheaper - even the higher end brands - Darigold and Fairlife and Organic brands. Yes there are lines but there are lines in ALL of the stores in the the 15 mile radius as there are not enough to service the area. I will say - stay out on Sundays they are the worst. Meat grades range wildly but i have not had anything bad from the store and you can figure our the grades.... Wine is not such a great price - but its not terrible either. WinCo Foods is a grocery store located in the Pacific NW. Apparently the company has been making it's way into cities such as Las Vegas and parts of Southern California. Consider WinCo a cheaper version of Food-4-Less. With that, there's some perks and dirts: PERKS: *cheap *5 cents off your purchase for EACH recyclable bag you bring *some organic products found here *beer & wine *open 24/7 DIRTS: *unkept aisles *produce not up to par *not much quality "meats" - consider it low-grade *no hard liquor (but that's just the state of OR anyways) *gotta bag your own groceries *no CC's (cash, debit or check only) WinCo is my go-to place for my basic grocery needs. I'd question their prepared foods, some look good, while others I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole (maybe because it doesn't look appetizing). Came here a couple weeks ago. Reminds me of food 4 less or a foodmaxx down in CA. Pros: Great selection of products on the shelf, great prices, conveniently located to home- I'll give them that. Cons: odd layout. Not very simple to navigate through. Most employees are lacking in the customer service department. I had a basket, over 15 items, and made my way to self check out. I didn't see the sign hanging from above that said " SELF CHECKOUT 15 items or less". I proceeded to walk up to a scanning station. A worker came out of no where, raising her voice saying, "WAIT, wait. No, no, no. You can't check out here! 15 items or less! See the sign?" Holy cow. Sorry lady, I didn't need your raised voice and rude tone. I didn't notice the sign. Sorry about that, Sheesh. Luckily, I found a semi-shorter line with a sweet checker. One more thing. Employees on the floor (away from the check stands) can be hard to find if you are in need of help. I stumbled across a broken glass jar of baby food splattered across an isle -glass and all- and stood next to it (to prevent injury for any other customer) for 5-8 minutes (hoping I'd see any employee pass by) before I decided to walk away to find someone. Thankfully I found a man cleaning the floor that gladly rushed over to clean up the mess. And thank God no one got hurt. Will probably return for groceries in the future, but won't be expecting the best customer service. read more

I don't think I've ever struggled harder to come up with a rating for a business than this one. So, after wracking my brain and pulling out a few chunks of hair, I'm gonna lay down 3 stars here. It's the classic Winco conundrum. It's a Winco. You know what they've got. What's that? You don't? Riiiiiiight. Okay, this Winco has one or more of the following in no particular order: People. Dirty aisles. Great prices. Smells. Good and bad. A sign that exclaims "Farm I.D. is NOT valid for cashing checks". Chicky Chicky Boom Boom (I'm not kidding, and this may be my favorite part of the place). ... and a whole host of other sights and sounds. Seriously, Winco attacks your SENSES, and not just a few of them. ALL of them. I can't explain it. You have to see it for yourself. I'm comfortable with my 3-star review. The prices and convenience are the positive parts. The negative... "is what it is". read more

No credit cards accepted!!! Ok, so maybe you already know this, but I just got here from SF (no WinCo) and was out for a walk so only had a CC in my pocket. I didn't discover this fact until after I tried using the self checkout. Grrrr Others have commented pretty well. I will say that the store was clean and people were helpful. I don't know what crowds people are referring to--was very calm when I was there on a Monday evening 7ish. But people here apparently have no idea what crowds and long lines really are; it's all relative. It's not all special and fancy feeling like New Seasons or Whole Foods or even Safeway, but for the basics, it does the trick. I just can't decide if I'd save enough to justify losing out on cash back or mileage points on the credit cards...remains to be seen. read more

Grocery options on the northern Oregon Coast simply suck. Everything is highly overpriced compared to other regions, selection can leave much to be desired, and convenience is not a viable option. We have to trek at least an hour drive one way just to get decent savings and goods. We have recently discovered Hillsboro for an alternate shopping solution to going Longview / Kelso. This is a great store. Granted, we were there at 2am (the only time to shop in my opinion) and during the stocking wars (stockers v. boxes), but damn it, we saved a ton of cash. It is so nice to have a wide variety of things to choose from. We just love this store so much, that I don't mind dodging forklifts, boxes, and hustling employees. Every time that we shop here, I just hate Safeway and Fred Meyer more and more. Some items here are easily 50-60 percent cheaper than our Safeway. Friendly employees that work their asses off. These folks just put our coastal slugs to shame. The money that we save by shopping here, more than makes up for the petrol to get there. Props to the older gentleman security guard in the golf cart that patrols the parking lot. You are appreciated and were a joy to talk and BS with. Keep rocking that cowboy boyo!! I didn't get the feeling that we were in that bad of an area, but I have been in much worse. My 9mm and I are pretty immune to crime no matter where we go. (wink). read more

Even though there are only 1-2 out of 4 bottle redemption machines working and the people that cover them are always constantly correcting errors which actually results in poor maintenance on the machines which Winco doesn't own but could have influence on who owns them, I am giving the store a good rating for 2 reason. 1. I have never been grossed out (ok bottle return area at times) but it is what that is. 2. I had my huge plastic bag of cans stolen after an employee put them aside due to them closing the return area down an hour early due to only one machine working. The kid was really nice but in trying to be overly helpful he had told a few others that were turned away not to go in an employee only area and take them. I didn't want to go through the store with them in my cart. I was pretty upset as I like others are struggling. I was just going to leave but said no I am going to let them know and identify via (cameras and robo face recognition) who it was and the person in charge actually asked me an estimate of the returns & we came to a reasonable agreement and he refunded me (I only expected them to identify the person and have security let them know next time they are returning bottles to go elsewhere for bottle returns) please follow through with this. What is there to say about Winco? I mean it looks JUST like the other one. You would never be able to tell which store you are in. I went here with the kids to do a field trip. I work with a variety of kids and these are kids that need to be integrated into the community...so what better place? No complaints. I mean, its Winco. The store is alright but I am giving a low review because of their product. I challenge you to buy a Winco gallon of milk and pour a glass without spilling it. It's like they design them to drool right down the side of the jug. It is really annoying and it's been that way for years. I am tempted to get a different container to put the milk in. After the jug is down to about half full it can be done without spilling. I'll pay more for a jog of milk that is not booby trapped so I will buy,just the milk, elsewhere. I get tired of wiping up spilled milk EVERY SINGLE TIME I POUR MILK. read more

A friend and I were out and about before "snowpocalypse." Besides hearing about it on the news everywhere you turned, you just knew it was coming by the awful cold (running from car to store and vice versa was an adventure in itself - I believe I could have won a gold medal in store exit and entrance speeds) and by the look of the sky. It became the order of the day then to stock up, and while passing this WinCo, we decided it was the easiest thing of all. This WinCo store is decidedly newer than my "home WinCo" at Cedar Hills Crossing. If you read my review on that outlet, you'll know where I stand on WinCo (in other words, like it or leave it). One thing I liked about this particular WinCo is that the exit and entrance portals are closer together than those at Cedar Hills Crossing and therefore easier to get in and out of quicker. Once inside, the store is laid out exactly the same way as my home WinCo which certainly made it a quicker trip in that regard. Overall this store is cleaner than the Cedar Hills Crossing store, and everything seemed to sparkle and shine. No, I wasn't on hallucinogens, and perhaps the cold affected my vision, but after talking with a store employee, I found out they actually had installed special lighting in this newer store just for that purpose. I did find the products in this store tended to be about twenty cents more expensive than at my regular WinCo, but also found out that a WinCo store near a WalMart here in town had to price their goods at five cents lower than WalMart in order to survive the grocery price wars. See what you learn when you chat with the folks who work in the store? Now that's one thing that has not changed about going to different WinCos, i.e. the friendliness of the nice people who work for WinCo. If back in this neighborhood, I would most definitely shop here again for the sake of convenience. There are products (like meat and some produce) I might choose to shop for elsewhere given more time to go hither and thither, but the basics and staples (like those I purchased to prep for snowpocylapse) are solid and at good prices. read more

I'm a big fan of Winco food. I found out tonight they have these machines that churns peanut butter and almond butter. Fresh and no preservative. About two bucks per pound for peanut butter. And I think it's just under five bucks for the almond one. Very good deal. read more

Very bad day for winco .I Was in the store and they where giving samples of shrimp and my 8 year old kid asked if she could have one and I said yes. When she grabbed one the lady that was handing them out grabbed her and and wouldn't let her tell her where I was as I stepped over there and was telling the lady to let my kid go she still held onto her. At no time should winco employes ever touch a kid and then mouth off about what they did. After the manager looked at the tape she said she really couldnt see anything and wasnt gonna do anything about it. I had to give a 1 because they dont let me do a Zero. read more

Normally I have no problem with this store. I always shop here and leave satisfied, except for today. Two days ago I ordered cupcakes from a very nice young lady working in the bakery department who was very helpful taking down my order to be picked up today. When I arrived to pick up my order today in the bakery department a much older, heavy set lady was working in the back room. Once I managed to get her attention I gave her my name and told her I have an order of two dozen cupcakes that I need to pick up. Very rudely she told me I never placed and order to pick up. Now how would she know that if she didn't take the time to look and see for herself if I placed and order. Stunned by the response I just kind of stood there wondering what her problem was. She then turned and walked I'm guessing to the freezer area and came back with my order, no apology, nothing just handed them to me and walked away as if I did something wrong. I hate when I come across these horrible,lazy employees that shouldn't be in the customer service environment. They have no business being there If they can't provide the quality service for a company that counts on us consumers to keep them in business. read more
