I'm a current resident at Winchester Place and I'm so upset with myself that I moved here. I've made the management known of an issue I've been having with the toilet in my apartment. I informed them that the toilet runs constantly and overflows randomly on its own. And even worse, every time it rains hard, the toilet would bubble up and start to overflow whenever it was flushed. The maintenance came out and fixed the float in the tank and said it was good to go. I questioned them about the overflowing issue and they told me it was fine.
Fast forward a week later, shortly before Thanksgiving, the toilet overflowed WHEN I WAS NOT HOME visiting family for the holiday, and floods my WHOLE apartment. All of my items in the closet, shoes, laptop, and clothes, all damaged. The maintenance comes in cleans up the water, lifts the carpet and puts a fan underneath and does absolutely NOTHING about the actual problem, which was the toilet. When I questioned what was done to fix the toilet issue, I was told nothing is wrong with the toilet. I was also told it's just like when you're sick and go to the doctor but everything is okay when you get there, there is nothing that can be done. I was adamant about the toilet needing fixing but they told me it would be fine.
The process was not completed until that Saturday. 5 days later! I wasn't even offered an option to stay in another apartment since there would be a delay getting everything completed because of the holiday. They weren't even going to offer a shampooing. I had to ask for that!
Now, here we are, barely 3 weeks later and my toilet overflows AGAIN and floods my apartment out even worse this time. I walked up to water literally leaking out of the front door and front window! This could've ALL been avoided had they listened to me and fixed the toilet! Now, I've lost a bunch MORE property from water damage and they're finally offering to replace the toilet.
I asked for the option to transfer apartments and was told that they would ask the property manager and get back to me. Of course, I never received a call back so I had to show up to the office. When I get there, I speak with the property manager and was told the option to transfer apartments was available.
When I spoke with the individual she put in charge to help me, I was told I would have to pay ANOTHER $175.00 deposit and $300.00 pet fee, that I've already paid with the previous apartment! I'm 7 months into my lease! I'm not asking to be moved as a luxury! I'm requesting to be moved because I'm tired of all my property being damaged because people won't listen and fix THEIR faulty plumbing! And at this point, fixing the toilet is no longer an option for me. I don't trust staying in that apartment anymore and I'm not risking it ruining my property again. This is completely outrageous and I definitely will NOT be renewing my lease. read more
