The modern design, soft background music, beautifully displayed fresh doughnuts, hot breakfast sandwiches, and warm, smooth, efficient, and all around profession service, is absolutely 5 star all the way. If someone could get a Michelin star for A doughnut shop, these guys would be a top candidate for sure! The owners has been awarded best doughnut shop 2 years running and it is clear why. This is the best Winchell's in the Denver metro area. It is owner operated by the same family that used to run the one that used to be by casa Bonita. It was destroyed during Covid by an RV that drove through it and totaled the building. They decorate during the different holidays and seasons and play music to accentuate the mood of the season. We have tried three or four different winchell's' and this one by far has more respect for the customer and for the doughnuts, they take care that the icing stays nice and the doughnuts don't get smushed until you get it to your destination. Carmen is here almost every time we come in. She is always professional, respectful and helpful when we make an order. The doughnuts are always flavorful and soft. We always get a breakfast sandwich. There are a few donut spots near me but this is the closest and they're always open! I consider myself a donut aficionado, but only for true old school donuts. This place fits that description perfectly. Prices seem fair and the donuts are delicious. I've only had one of their breakfast sandwiches. I tried my best to make my visit a good one, the donuts are good no complaints there, but the service is harsh, cold and hard to come in and sit down when your being rushed through your order. I tried to be polite but the older lady serving me wouldn't even look at me and said in a harsh tone "so what do you want" i hadn't been to a winchel's in a long time, and wasn't sure and there weren't any people in the store so no reason to rush. The coffee tasted like straight up syrup, sugar, and water. No flavours of actual coffee detected. The egg in the breakfast croissants looked green/blue and were overcooked and had an incredibly spongy texture, the sausage tasted gamey and dry as well, had no seasoning at all... I just don't understand what the standards for food are here. I don't understand how food of this quality is even allowed to be served. read more

Had some issues here with the hours. Know it's under new ownership but it's hit or miss. This spot is right down the street from the house but I often find myself driving all the way to Federal for Winchells instead. Sometimes you don't want the crap from King Soopers or Safeway. Those donuts are always stale. Dunkin and Krispy are options if you have one close. You could do Voodoo, but I've had issues with freshness and the price point. I want to spend nine dollars and to hate myself afterwards. Waking up in an alley covered in donut glaze, this spot fulfills that need. Dedicated parking lot. Sheridan and lights nearby so it can be a pain depending on traffic volume and flow to get across. Pull up and walk inside. Dimly lit with that cross country truck stop vibe. I've been here mostly morning and afternoons, never two AM but I'd still come in then for a donut or two late night. Hours seem to vary so be sure to check that before leaving the house. Juice. Lemonade. Coffee and hot chocolate. Muffins. Donuts. The usual situation. Always had about nine to eleven donut choices. Some of the same with varied sprinkles or chocolate versus maple. Fresher donuts than the federal location. Generally I'll get a half dozen here and there enough. Kind people behind the counter. Take debit and credit. They have a few tables inside but it's mostly a grab and go spot. Cleaner than the federal location but the decor could use an update. Again I'm eating fried dough covered in sugar so I should relax. This location is under new ownership and just reopened this week. The store is beautifully renovated and they offer many new items. Unfortunately I will not be back to this location after being a customer of the previous owner for the past 5 years. I placed an order for pick up this morning through the Winchell's website, Winchells.com for a breakfast sandwich. When I arrived they were very busy, which is understandable. I waited for about 20 minutes in line thinking they would call my name when my order was ready. When I did get the opportunity to ask the man working at the counter if my order was ready he told me they had no order for me. He said I must have ordered from the wrong location. When I showed him my text confirmation with the store address he proceeded to tell me that it was a scam and they do not offer online ordering, which is interesting because he previously said I must have ordered from the wrong location. So they do or do not offer online ordering? I understand the store just re-opened but you would think they would know they are connected to the corporate site for online ordering. He could have taken a few minutes to check into that instead of accusing me of trying to scam him. While waiting in line and looking at the menu, I noticed the dozen donuts says it includes bars, filled and twists as regular donuts. Wednesday morning I stopped to pick up 2 dozen donuts for my office. I was charged a "fancy" up charge of $.70 x6. I figured it was for the bars and twists I ordered, but now I see I was overcharged incorrectly. I wish I had great things to post about this location because I looked forward to it re-opening for months. The previous owner may not have had the modern updates and extras, but she offered true customer service. Such a disappointment. read more

So far so good. It's Winchell's, so to me they are the same all over Denver. Run down donut shops, with yummy donuts though. Prices are reasonable. Most of their donuts are cake donuts I've noticed. Frosting is mostly glazed, chocolate and cherry. So not the same options as some used to Dunkin. No blueberry cake donuts either. So yeah my favorite donuts are not sold here, but their donuts are still good. We usually go for the glazed, old fashion, coconut and sprinkles. Enough parking here, and seating if you choose to eat your donut at the store. Don't usually see that occur though. Can be busy on the weekend mornings which is normal. Who doesn't love donuts on a weekend? Best deal is the baker's dozen. Believe you get 14 donuts instead of the traditional 12. Now the task is to eat them all. read more

I live very close to these guys and have for years. Yes it was bad...before the new guys came into it. Now it's much cleaner, faster and the people are eager to please the customers. They have worked hard to make improvements. Please give them another shot, I don't want to have to drive all the way to 44th for my donut fix when I live just blocks from one of the best places. I read some landmark case in Tort Law class where Winchell's was a named party. Many years later, I cannot remember the holding, but I know that I never tried one of their donuts. Last night, that came to an end. I got off of the bus and voilla -- the stop was in front of this Winchell's store . We walked in planning to split a donut, but gluttony got the better of us, and we each chose one. She had a glazed donut, and I had a cherry cake donut. They were tasty. However, I was a little disappointed by the price -- $2.15 for 2 -- a dollar per donut seems a little pricey. I am sure the prices are better when one buys a dozen or so donuts. My adult son and I took a trip to the Winchell's donuts on Sheridan and 1st on December 22, 2021. After arriving at the parking lot I decided to run to the Mexican market next to the donut shop to grab some candy. My son decided to stay in the car and wait with the intention to get donuts upon my return. I was gone less that 15 minutes. While I was gone a man inside the shop approched my son and threaten to tow our vehicle. He was rude and extremely aggressive.
