What no recent reviews here? MVS has come a long positive way since changing ownership. Michelle…read moreand her employee co-op have gone to great strides to make this a hub of progression for a small town. During the recent floods of 2023 , this group did a lot to fill the gaps where State Government and Federal Agencies allowed the town to fall through the cracks in the early days. They succeeded in working with the local government, vendors and locals to bring needed relief and supplies to the town and area. If anything says Vermont Strong this place represents it! The food is top notch! My favorite being the Roast beef Sandwich with fresh quality meats, local vegetables and local buns. There's a little intramural competition between local stores and although I've tried many on the road...this is my favorite. Second to that is the boneless wings...great and reasonable. The have some essential items and have bolstered the old bar area with products made by locals. Need a memento or quick gift, Jam, Maple Syrup, Local Wine... this may be your stop. Try it out ...and thanks Team

Libbey's Meat Market - Looks so good, but wasn't. Was possibly fried while still frozen. All the breading fell off when bit into and gross

Moved to VT almost 2 years ago and finally stopped here after seeing a "fried chicken" sign…read moreoutside. I grabbed some chorizo which I'm super excited about because I haven't been able to find any since moving here from Los Angeles. I haven't tried it yet, so I'll update my review after I do. I was super excited about the FRIED CHICKEN cause it looked delicious, but as soon as I took my first bite I regretted buying so much of it. Although the breading on it had an excellent taste, most of it crumbled off the chicken and exposed gross looking pale chicken. The skin of the chicken was definitely not fried properly and appeared to be partly raw. Once I bit into it, the chicken felt chewy and was partly pink inside. I got 5 wings and wished I had only got one to try cause I couldn't eat any of it. My husband thinks the chicken was read and fried while still frozen which kept it from frying properly. How can you skip steps in cooking and expect your customers to be happy and come back?? The shop itself is nice and has a big assortment of meats, but my review is based on what I purchased (fried chicken) which was pretty disgusting.

Anyway, nothing really is more worthy of care than delicious meat, and you don't have to pay much extra. And they are friendly and helpful. You name it. Why go to the grocery and pay 20% less for an assembly line butchered animal when you can have locally farmed animals, some elsewhere but still very good!

We mentioned the article and he seemed impressed since he didn't think the article would bring anyone in. We loved the eclectic feel of the place. It was a Wednesday and the special was pot pie so that's what we decided to order along with a bottle of Spanish wine. He mentioned the pot pies sold out by 5pm the week before. It was probably the tastiest pot pie we've ever had. Don't pass this place up if you're in the area.

What a gem of a place - great ready to eat food, specialty grocery items, AND big smiles. Wednesday - pot pie day! Hefty for its size - the chicken pot pie yesterday (flavors change) was loaded with so much meat that a slice didn't change its shape on my plate. That pie crust was buttery goodness! Thursdays thru Saturdays - hot rotisserie chickens (ready at 4pm)! Sticky caramelized skin, mmmm. These pastured chickens are raised in VT, so they are as clean as they are delicious. Daily baked goods - the banana buttercotch scone, brown butter chocolate chip cookie, & raspberry chocolate chip muffin are all fresh & so yummy, with crispy edges and moist centers. Their strawberry pop tarts look to die for! Groceries - an excellent selection: local eggs, beautiful cheeses, Vermont Salumi, Sisters of Anarchy ice creams, panko breadcrumbs, Asian condiments (fine brewed soy sauce, soup bases, etc.), Tony's chocolate bars, fresh produce, frozen fresh raviolis, kombuchas and specialty sodas, and a large selection of wines. Giving back is a loving theme here. With every purchase, you have an opportunity to give your tips to their monthly partner. This month they are supporting the Pride Center of Vermont. I'm looking forward to next Saturday's dinner special (eat in or to go), and Sunday's savory hand pie!
