Was pleasantly surprised because even though the place has had a makeover, the floor in particular, it is still essentially, the Addy! Quite a few of the regulars albeit slightly older,lol, were there and more arrived as the pub got busier and busier over the evening, was great to see them all again. There were a great choice of drinks,real ales, ciders, lagers, bottles etc., the prices, quite reasonable too. Entertainment was on, profuse apologies but I can't remember the name of the band, that's the fault of one of the pints of Stella I imbibed! I did have several dances though, which I thoroughly enjoyed. All in all, I had a great time, ex-hub didn't moan that much, so I assume he must have enjoyed himself. Service was a little hit or miss. And the food was ok, but some of the order was messed up..ie "is there lettuce n tomatoes in the burger?" Answer, was yes and there wasn't any. They don't appeal to me much but I'm glad they still exist. You see when dining it should really be all about the food. Eating with distraction only interests me when the food is of no interest. It feels very much like a cramming of over 270 covers for the stage shows with the food as an after thought. However I am sure with it being established for over thirty years there is clearly a strong local following, which has kept it going. I have such fond memories of that gift shop that she ran out of the back of their old stone farmhouse, and when I saw The Country Mouse tea shop at Brimstage Hall I was instantly enchanted. They do a lovely cream tea here, which a friend of mine and I enjoyed after wandering around the little crafty/artsy/antique shops. It was definitely a good standard, and very traditionally British, so it makes a good place to bring visitors from other countries. This is quite a nice pub in Tranmere. They often have many of the local Wirral bands on down there…read moresuch as Insanity Beach. There is usually a quiz night once a week. Drinks are reasonably priced. Car parking is relatively limited, there are a few spaces next to the pub, so not ideal, especially if Tranmere are playing at home a lot of those roads need permits to park in. The pub is right on a main road on a bus route so ideal for those getting the bus here. Overall a friendly nice pub, not sure if they let kids in or not.

As an appetizer, their Hake in chili and Coriander batter is divine. For main courses, their Wild ocean cod in onion Bhaji batter is amazing,and my partner loved the scouse pie (beef). We rarely eat all of our food at a restaurant - but we did here because it was delicious. Great atmosphere and friendly staff, this is one place you'll not not regret coming to in Liverpool.
