The boutique was smelling so nice inside, many of the oil fragrances were there throughout the store. Most of the stuff here was different and unique but was way pricier compared to other boutiques. This was my first visit to this place. The colors were mostly sober and selection was mostly casual with some trendy items, liked few things but generally were not to my liking. I had actually visited on Good Friday and they were closed. I live in Katy and it was a 30 minute drive. I politely got back in my car and decided I would visit another day. Well the following week I decided to visit because I needed to drop shoes off at the shoe shop. I walked in and felt like I was dreaming. It was such a variety of material it was unreal. I am not a seamstress but I have a creative vein for making a masterpiece. I decided to take my time and walk around and observe, look and allow my creative juices to flow. Then an angel appeared CLAUDIA, she was the sweetest girl ever. She answered all of my questions, offered expertise knowledge and helped me sort through many different options. Of course a creative person never makes choices overnight. So I left the store and told her I would return soon. The following week I returned with more choices and the need to make a final decision. When she seen the masterpiece she was floored. She then proceeded to talk about her mother's 50th birthday. It was funny because I am preparing for my 50th birthday and I was sharing with her that I don't mind sharing information with her as well to make her mother's event a success. What impressed me the most is all of the staff are welcoming to all ages and race along with being bilingual. I am always disgusted when I walk into an establishment and no one speaks ENGLISH which is the first language in HOUSTON. They are all nice and helpful CLAUDIA, stood out to me because she helped me personally. She was absolutely amazing. She gave hands on expertise and was very patient and kind. It was my first time in the store and she made me feel welcome. Her energy and poise were unmatched. I am looking forward to shopping at this establishment again.

I asked to use the restroom and was refused, despite being a paying customer. The staff showed no understanding or willingness to help, which made the experience feel unwelcoming and disrespectful. I understand that stores may have policies, but customers should be treated with basic courtesy--especially when making a reasonable request. Because of this experience, I will think twice before shopping here again.

When I arrived, I was grateful to see reserved parking spaces right in front. I was not eager to tackle Rice Village parking, so this convenience was a benefit for me. Upon walking in, I asked where I could find some potentially matching fabric and the salesgirl was so helpful! She pointed me in the right direction. Since I was looking for white fabric, she recommended I take the fabric outside in the sun to make sure it matches (can't trust white with the florescent lights!). That greatly helped, as the first fabric I thought would work ended up not matching at all once I took it in the sun. After a few tries, I found a fabric that was perfect! If you're looking for a last minute dress, top, shoes, or scarf for your night out, avoid University Drive and just head here. The clothes are affordable, but aren't genera-hip (ie bland) like some other, cheaper shops a block over. You're not really going to run into someone else with the exact same dress. And you're not going to be wearing much polyester. The cotton to poly-fiber ratio is about 5:5 here which is saying something, especially since the clothes are relatively inexpensive and relatively well-made. Again, this sounds mildly negative, but last minute is last minute and I wouldn't want you to waste your time either paying too much or getting a sub par outfit somewhere else. In fact, the last time I was here, I almost got a really cute, yet edgy strapless dress. Creamy white with a graphic silver, gold, and bronze pattern, and a fullish, layered skirt. Super cute, but I'm not certain how chilly or blazing hot New Years is going to be. Hmm. There are now five Em & Lee shops in town. Of the ones I've been to, including West Grey, I like this one the best. It's the warm wood interior. I'm not certain if that's left over from Hemline, but well, it's more inviting. I purchased a pale pink/nude-toned dress that was a poly-chiffon. It had a rouched top with a pleated skirt. It was $76 (regular price!) and an appropriate length. They also have a variety of cute tops and casual dresses. It's trendy but not too much. Although, the sizing is more like junior sizing so you may find yourself in between sizes. I appreciate the coupons they have on their website and facebook page. I got $10 off of my purchase because of that.
