The hours of access can be limiting and it's just a pain in the butt. The Austpac guys however, are really nailing a better experience. The facilities are immaculate, the service is friendly, there's 24hr access and they're well priced. I was originally attracted to this place as they were offering a 50% off discount offer on storage units up the back (seriously!), but given that their full price is comparable to others I shopped around, I would recommend it regardless. Dealing with the move was as easy as a move can possibly be, with a courtesy van and their super helpful staff on hand to make sure we were sorted. All in all, an impressive service that is ideal for someone like me that couldn't possibly fit all of my work life in my home office.

The difficulty with private safe deposit operations is that you don't know who you're dealing with…read more- this is particularly the case with Guardian which is not associated with a large bullion dealer (unlike its competitors in Melbourne - Fortis Vaults, and Sydney - Custodian Vaults). Guardian staff tend to be defensive when they receive critical feedback, treat customers as children, and make errors in financial transactions. They are very keen on revenue. However, the vault is said to be Grade XII (under EN 1143-1, a Euro standard) which is almost the highest rating. Guardian expanded the Melbourne vault in 2018 and it is now large by world standards. They seem unlikely to go into liquidation (unlike the Bullion Bourse vault in Perth which went broke in 2019) so box holders are unlikely to end up dealing with a liquidator.

I rented a storage unit for 4 weeks, paid for 12 weeks. When I rented the unit I was told a 1…read moremonth deposit was taken and would be refunded. I was told I had to pay for 2 months up front minimum then monthly afterwards. I was told that if I didn't use the 2nd month I'd get a pro-rata refund. They were very helpful in renting and taking my money by credit card. They advised when I gave notice and vacated they'd sort out the pro-rata refund and the 1 month deposit. To this date, 23 days AFTER I have vacated the premises no monies have been received. I've called three times, been told "a check would have already been mailed to you". Then called again " I assume a check's been mailed to you". Then today, I forced them to give me the date the check was mailed, the check number etc. They CLAIM a check was mailed 5 business days ago from Malvern to Armadale but to date NO MONIES/NO CHECK has been received. I also was told that I will NOT get my pro-rata refund only the 1 month. I also found out they are in receivership which I have no idea if this means i'll never see my money. Regardless I have paid over $1000 by credit card to these people for 4 weeks of a small rental unit and have received no refund of anything. I asked them to please stop payment/cancel the alleged check an reissue another one that I would pick up in person. I was told by Matt "it's not our fault you never got the check, if it doesn't come that's not our problem". I asked again to speak to a manager/owner, etc... as he REFUSED to reissue the check. I've not yet received a call back. I would exercise extreme caution before handing any monies to this business and I will personally never use them again.

I had an awful experience with Budget Blackburn last week. Not only was the car I originally…read morereserved not there after I turned up, I had to wait at least an hour while they served other customers who were just as frustrated in waiting so long. I only needed the car for the weekend but had to have it back by 2.30pm on the Sunday before they closed which is closer to 1.5 days otherwise I'd be charged a 3rd day for returning it Monday morning. So I essentially had the car for just over 24 hours, charged for 2 days and would have been charged for a 3rd had I returned it first thing Monday. But the real kick in the guts was the day after I returned it, the office called me to say they were charging me an extra $100 because they found some sand in the car! I didn't go to any beach I presume it was some sand from parking in a gravel driveway, surely this comes under generally wear and tear, but no it doesn't and they can't just vacuum it but they need to send it to detailing at great expense. This was a poor experience to go with one or two other poor experiences that I've had with this business, I would recommend you take your business to Avis and Sixt that are both in the area.
