ONKY USE THIS Man WIRH A VAN IF YOU WANT A NIGHTMARE!…read more I have a lot of stuff to move so I emailed Man With A Van in advance with photos showing absolutely everything and spoke with them on the phone. They said that they would have 5 people and two vans. Because I was concerned about their $450 per hour price tag and knew the price would be based on the amount of time they would take, my family and I moved all of the small items over the before today. They arrived with the two vans but ONLY HAD 3 movers. Upon arrival, the movers told me that it would cost me more than they quoted. They started moving a few things from the back yard and then left without saying a word and left a bunch of my patio furniture in the front yard. I then got a phone call from their office that their drivers did not feel safe (there is nothing unsafe at my property). I imagine they felt unsafe because there were only 3 men for a minimum 5?men job. This company sucks!

Come on down, Man With A Van!! No-one likes moving- even those who just won tattslotto and are moving into their first mansion surely despise the thought of wrapping all their crap up in newspaper, hiring a truck and heaving their unwieldy furniture up and down stairs, around corners and into its new home. Cue, Man With A Van! Nowadays you can actually get multiples of men, with a truck no less, to do bigger moves, and the prices aren't as dirt cheap as tehy used to be. (Capitalism will do that to a society). But MWAV still has my vote because God help me if I have to dismantle and move my bed by myself. Thanks MWAV for saving my spine more times than once!

Got verbally abused by removalist & company ignored my complaint…read more I hired this company to help move a few months back (relatively small move, 2 bedrooms & not a large amount of extra furniture) for a move from one side of Brisbane to the other. On the day of removal one of the removalists (the fees paid for 2) wasn't doing anything other than standing out the front of the house talking to the other one & talking on the phone. Seeing as the company charges by the hour, I called the company office to double check I had definitely paid for 2 removalists & they confirmed this. After that phone call, the removalist recieved a phone call from the company office & then immediately approached me in an intimidating/aggressive way & shouted at me for about 5 mins straight & then threatening to not do the move at all if I didn't agree that he was doing work. (Also keep in mind that I was a young woman & on my own at the time, & both removalists were large men). While this was happening I was on the phone with a family member that was helping with the move, so that family member heard every threatening word of this 'conversation', & I stayed on the phone with them for the remaining time that the removalists were at the house because it felt like an unsafe environment. As well as this event, the removalists permanently marked a lot of my fabric furnishings, & were really rough with items that were clearly marked fragile (TVs, clearly labeled & packaged mirror cartons etc.). After they completed the move I made it clear to the company office worker over the phone that I had been verbally attacked & that I would be making a formal complaint. A few weeks after that I sent through my formal complaint email, after which their HR team proceeded to gaslight me & ask why it took so long to report & saying if I hadn't submitted an official police report then there was no proof & nothing must have happened. After that email they have completely ignored my reply emails, and apprear to have zero interest in taking any responsibility for how their removalist behaved. [UPDATE] After posting this review elsewhere, the company contacted me to "resolve the issue", which was just them repeating their denial that anything happened & that as far as they're concerned my removal service went "very well"... That was just insulting at that point. Do not give your money to these people. If I could rate them lower I would.

My experience with this company has been awful. I was left feeling ripped off and taken advantage…read moreof. Stay away from this company at any cost. I had 3m3 of soil that needed to be removed urgently as we were having a party the next day. In my initial phone enquiry, I was told $150m3 and that it could be done tomorrow. Based on this, I estimated $450 which I was happy to pay. I was told that someone would arrive the next day, inspect the site, confirm the volume and give me a firm quote. As promised, a young man indeed arrived the next day, but alone, which was the first warning sign all was not well. But he reiterated the cost at $150m3 and confirmed 3m3. However, I was now told I would need to pay for labour in addition, also at $150/hr - and that it would take him about an hour to do the job. This was the 2nd warning sign. I wasn't particularly happy about it, but the reality was I didn't really have another option as it was now too late to organise someone else. I reasoned that he was already here and that the job would get done in an hour, so I agreed to the extra cost. At this stage I had agreed to $600. An hour later, and less than half way through the job, he said he had already loaded 3m3 and that his truck could not take any more. This was clearly not the case. It was a 30m3 truck so I queried him, only to be told it was a matter of weight. Suddenly, it had become about weight. I said this was not what we had agreed but he just kept saying the same thing. He also said he would need to drop off what he had and come back. I did not believe him about the weight or that his truck need to be emptied. Even if it was true, why did he start the job if his truck couldn't cope?. He returned 2 hours later, with his truck only partially emptied. The bigger issue however, was that he was now less than half way through the job and had already used the quoted amount of m3 and time. At this point I realised I was being scammed but I was stuck. Our front yard was a complete mess (worse than before he started), if I told him not to come back, I would still need to engage someone else to clean it up and, the job would not have been completed before our party. In hindsight, I should have ended it there and got someone else, but felt too pressured and could not think clearly - so I didn't. I complained that this was not what we had agreed and, that I was not prepared to let him continue with an open ended timeframe. He finally agreed to cap it at 6m3 plus 2 hours labour (double the initial quote). I had an awful feeling in my stomach the whole time and felt totally ripped off. Rudimentary geometry showed it was nowhere near 6m3. On top of that, I realised this young man (who was pleasant, enthusiastic and very hard working) had no wheel barrow. He was equipped with only a plastic bucket which he would fill and carry back and forth to his truck, 10 meters away. There was no way he was going to finish in 1 hour and I feared I would be charged additional time. My neighbour, watching all this with a mixture of amusement and pity, offered me his wheelbarrow. So I borrowed the wheelbarrow and spent the next hour and a half, loading and carrying it to the truck - while he continued to carry his bucket back and forth. In the end, it took both of us about an additional hour and a half. I was charged for a total of 6m3 and 2 hours labour ($1,200) and, ended up doing approx half the work. As I reflect back, I have no doubt I was the victim of a scam. I was deliberately under-quoted, put into a situation that was impossible to back out of and then taken advantage of. After several weeks of having my written complaints ignored, I called and spoke to Debbie, and asked for a partial refund. She offered excuse after excuse, lie after lie and was not even willing to consider a refund. Even her parting comment was a condescending taunt " What do you think? That a negative review is going to destroy my business?" I appreciate the amount I have asked to be refunded is relatively small but I will be taking legal action as a matter of principal.

AVOID! Complete scam - Move On Removals significantly drove up both the cost and stress associated…read morewith our move. We tried to address our concerns privately and directly and the post-move customer service was rude, unapologetic and did not at all stand behind the "100% satisfaction guarantee" posted on the website. First off, the original estimate was either not made in good faith or the result of incompetence. They visited our apartment to make a quote based on a review of the job scope. The quote was ~$1,500 - and the final invoice was more than double this amount. We made the decision to use this company instead of other options on the basis of the original quote, and I consider it unacceptable that they would use potentially deceptive business practices in an effort to receive business. Furthermore, we had pre-arranged with our storage facility to select between two sizes of storage unit based on the movers' judgement of the capacity requirement. Not only did the movers misjudge, but they also didn't move our belongings into the larger storage unit so now we are paying double our expected monthly rate in storage fees. And as an additional burden, we had left specific instructions for the movers that were not followed. However, they never told us upfront that these would be possible, nor after the fact that they had not been done. They also left a considerable amount of rubbish behind - again without informing us. This caused us to incur considerable additional costs from our real estate agent. Very disappointing as all of this could have been avoided through proper communication. There are A LOT of other removalist companies out there - please think twice before making the same mistake that we did.
