Over 8 years later, I am finally writing a review. Please understand that I am not the kind of…read moreperson to bash others in reviews over small meaningless offenses. In fact, this is the only negative review I have ever made online, but I feel like my experience matters and I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I did. I am also one of the many patients who saw Dr Sal due to him being the only orthodontist around who accepted Medicaid. As a young 15-year old girl who was very insecure about her smile, I was so excited to have this opportunity to get braces. However, the excitement eventually turned into tears and I would leave over 50% of my orthodontic appointments crying in my car in the parking lot out of pure hurt and frustration. Dr. Sals techs were rough and rude, they worked on my teeth like they were under the hood of a car and not in the mouth of a human being. I did not receive adequate individualized attention from Dr. Sal and he would interrupt me when I politely expressed my concerns. He even walked away mid-sentence a couple times as he was in a super rush to see the other 3 patients that were all lined up in the chairs (in the same room). He made me and my mother feel insignificant, emasculated and unimportant. I am an overachiever and a perfectionist. I took very good care of my teeth and I did everything that Dr. Sal asked me to. He said I would have braces for about 2 years and after 4 years of braces my teeth were in worse condition than when I started. I began with a small overbite and some crowding of teeth, and near the end of the 4 years (although my teeth got straighter) my bite had gotten so bad that my top molars and second bicuspids would not even touch the bottom ones which made chewing food very uncomfortable. At this point I was 19 years old and engaged to be married in a couple months. I knew I needed a second opinion so I went to another orthodontist for a consult. What a breath of fresh air to speak with someone who showed so much care for me! This new orthodontist said that I needed one or 2 teeth pulled on the bottom and that if I were to switch to him it would probably take about 18 months to correct my bite. (When I had suggested getting a tooth pulled from my bottom teeth to Dr. Sal he said, "You should never ever pull a tooth unless it is absolutely necessary!" In my case it was necessary but he refused.) We didn't have the money at the time to make the switch to this new orthodontist, but I knew I couldn't see Dr. Sal anymore. He had taken a small overbite with a couple crooked teeth and turned my cosmetic issues into medical issues. So I had Dr. Sal remove my braces and I left his practice. Now 8 years later (26 years old) I finally have the money to correct the damage that was done during (and after) my time at Dr. Fred Salvatoriellos office. My teeth have moved into a cross-bite (in an attempt to allow my molars to touch when biting) and I am experiencing jaw pain, but I am now seeing the same orthodontist that I went to for a second opinion when I was 19 years old and I couldn't be happier with his expertise and kindness.

When I left today, I said to Kelly the receptionist, I am one of very few people who can say that when I go to the dentist I have a good time. But I always do Carver family Dentistry. Before we bought in the area, we were visiting our daughter when a cap that was installed by one of the witch doctors came out on the plane. Dr Carver is my daughter's dentist & she called explaining my emergency to the doctor. She had me come in right away & she made the repair (the right way, I haven't had a problem with it since). I was impressed by her chairside manner & how quickly she made the repair. We moved into the area shortly after that (from fla, yeah I know but we moved to be near our grandkids after retiring). Dr Carver has been my dentist since we moved up & I can't say enough about her manner & how professional her staff is. I haven't always taken the best care of my teeth (shame on me) & my fear of dentists (wouldn't go unless I absolutely had to) left my mouth in poor health. She has never been judgmental & my mouth is the best it's been since my early teens.

Dr. Walker was recommended as "the best" by a dentist I trusted, and she was absolutely right. Despite my initial skepticism and many questions, Dr. Walker made me feel so comfortable from our first conversation to the last. He knew exactly how to support the surgery I needed, and explained the complex orthodontic and 2-step surgical process in a very understandable way but without oversimplifying. All his timeline and financial estimates were spot-on and very clearly explained as well. As specialists in the "upper palette" issues I was facing, Dr. Walker and the team of amazing orthodontic hygienists not only perfectly aligned my bite and chewing around my surgically reconstructed jaw, but also opened my airway and greatly improved my breathing! Everything Dr. Walker promised, I got, with no surprises. The office staff work very well together and were very accommodating with some schedule conflicts I had during COVID. Dr. Walker was likewise very accommodating, patient and responsive to my questions, with amazingly timely phone follow-ups even in last-minute scenarios. I'm so happy and relieved that I found Walker Orthodontics and finally had the surgery I needed. Dr. Walker is a fantastic orthodontist and a fantastic person, too. I can't say enough about the team, either. Highest recommendation!

So, look, when your kid needs orthodontic work you feel compelled to... brace yourself. There's the…read moreregular appointments, all the appliances, your child not doing what they're supposed to, and of course all the costs associated with braces, etc. I have to say from day one, Dr. DeMaio and his staff went above and beyond in making sure my children's treatment went as smoothly as possible. My first experience with the office was roughly eight years ago. My son had an unusual situation that went beyond straight teeth and required procedures that I wasn't familiar with at all. When I had braces some 40 years ago, they just slapped them on, cranked them up and said see you next month. When I got them off, they said "bye" and gave me a retainer that I promptly lost. Well, Dr. DeMaio explained what was happening with my son and what he needed. He answered all our questions and made sure we understood everything. Now, my son was not the most responsible patient, but Dr. DeMaio was patient and firm with him, explaining that the sooner got on the program, the easier it was going to be. My wife and were very satisfied with the attention my son received, so much so that when my daughter got to the age when she needed braces, we brought her to Dr. D. (if you look at my user pic, that's her in her braces.) We're just about done with her stint. If my youngest daughter needs braces, we're going to Dr. DeMaio. A few words about the staff. They are professional, friendly, attentive and good-humored. They're always smiling. They got to know me, and my absent-mindedness. When I forgot one of my daughter's appointments, they started sending me text messages as an extra reminder, which was helpful. Now, the bill... we didn't have insurance, but Dr. DeMaio painlessly arranged things, we stuck to the program and it was never a problem. It made things very easy. We have never had a bad experience there and would refer my best friends' kids to them, and they live about an hour away.

A close to three hour drive to get there. So after awhile, when things were going on and we couldn't get there, her state insurance ran out after she turned 18. Having been PAID IN FULL, he thought he could pull a fast one and try to extort another $800 for removal of the braces after it had been a few years. Well, with a little help from some local people, this guy was reported to the state for being the fraudulent, condescending, snippy jerk that he is. All she wanted was her braces removed after they had been on longer than they should have been and he got greedy. Greedy little man. I would advise EVERYONE to stay away from this character, a guy that is head of the board of whatever orthodontal secret society. He is a snake oil salesman, a shyster, a charlatan, and a churlish, snide little man. It is a drive-thru office that herds kids in and out so he can line his pockets with state insurance money. Avoid this guy (if he has his license to practice much longer) at all costs!

I still have a pretty evident open bite and #8, #9 aren't even. His only answer to that was have jaw surgery for "Tmj" Not to mention when they took my brackets off they left cement behind. Now being an adult and working as dental assistant I know we don't refer to things as TMJ because guess what everybody has 2 joints. I've been out of braces for 5 yrs and starting Invisalign which is less invasive to correct a minor issue that could of been solved assuming I saw an orthodontist who knew what he was doing and cared. I feel sorry for my mom paying ridiculous money for absolutely no reason. I wouldn't refer anyone to see him. If he's your only choice go without you'll end up paying for it years later.
