I'm writing this review on behalf of my wife. Couldn't give less than 1 star in ratings. Complete ponzi scheme & a total sham! The instructor has been way too bad to be even classified as "Unprofessional". Driving is USA is far more easy compared to many Asian countries if you follow the rules well. However, the instructor makes it more of a 'Rocket Science' for the student. No word of encouragement ever comes from his mouth. It feels more like a money extraction scheme for the driving school, rather than being a driving course. It costed $80 for a 2 hour course. After wasting $400, when I insisted on what is the plan, schedule, progress of learning I basically got a rambling labyrinth response which absolutely made no sense. I quote this directly from what the instructor said - "There are 'students' who took 2 hour 'practice' every day for a MONTH!". So apparently there are people who fall for these snake oil salesmen & shell out almost over $2400 just to learn how to freaking drive! Any other option will be far better than reaching out to this driving school! read more

I only took one class. The second never arrived so I got threatened by the instructor who never showed up. First lesson was very good even if I had to drive the lady from previous lesson. Congratulations to Harrison, great instructor. Other hand, the second instructor who never showed up sent me messages to threaten me with posting my information after I gave them my review on google. read more

My friends had class with them and had a great experience, maybe they were pretty good back then. When it's my tern thing got bad. AVOID THIS DRIVING SCHOOL IF YOU CAN They're fraud and even illegal. The first time I took the road test, their car insurance was expired, they didn't even noticed. Today when I went to the dmv, the examiner looked at the car and found out there's a black tape on the car. She peeled off the tape and found out the engine lights and the airbags lights were on. She then told me I cannot take my test in that vehicle because the car shouldn't even be on the road. As you can see on the picture, both lights are on, and on the right of the lights you can see a tape residues. I was so mad that I talked to the office, they told me "it's your luck and have nothing to do with us". If the car was fine, why did anyone put tape on it? You can tape the light, but you cannot cover the horrible condition of the car. Think about it, you're using that car to teach STUDENT DRIVERS. With bad engines and broken airbags, you're putting your customers' life in danger, especially those who's still learning how to drive. Using a bad car to provide profitable driving services is not even legal. Also they admitted themselves that other student used that car to take the test and it's just this time they got caught, and they're blaming me for this. I didn't cover my fault by putting a tape on. I didn't just ignore serious and potentially deadly car problems and let students use the car, I'm lucky that I don't have to take my test with a faulty car. read more

What a rip-off....fee was not as quoted to me over the phone. So sorry I picked this school to teach me to parallel park. Could barely understand the instructor as he was foreign and did not communicate well in English. Cost me a fortune and owner misrepresented himself. Told me he was not the instructor when I called to complain about the fee. Don't use this school unless you are willing to deal with all the issues I reported here. read more

Wilmington Driving School has just produced another licensed driver! They took someone who had a previously developed fear of driving and turned her into a confident and defensive ruler of the roads! Well, not quite yet to that extreme, but I am much better than when I started, and I owe it wholly to the instructors. I trained with Harrison and Maxwell, and I can't express enough gratitude to them. They took the time to get to know me and my circumstances - my reservations about driving, my work schedule, time constraints, etc - and they made sure I was comfortable with the progress of every lesson. I admittedly did not schedule as many lessons as I should have, but they worked with what I gave them and were supportive the whole time. If you don't have enough time to train, as I did, put your all into what lessons you do schedule, and Wilmington Driving School will match your effort 100%. Good luck! read more

Although expensive and pricey, you get exactly what you pay for, I passed my test and got my license, Wilmington Driving School is very good and I recommend anyone that wants to get there license but does not have anyone to teach them to go through Wilmington Driving School. You will have your license in no time. read more

The worse driving school EVERRRRRRR. Do not allow any of your family or friends to go here. They are ghetto and completely unprofessional. They never showed up and then lied when I called and asked for a manager. A man answered the phone stating he was the manager and was nasty and hung up on me. I will be reporting them to the BBB. read more

I had a driving lesson scheduled for 12:00 pm. The driver calls me at 12:08 to tell me he'll be 10 mins late. It's now 12:35. I called the driver and he hung up. Therefore I called the school to let them that I wanted to reschedule my lesson due to him being so late. The person who answers the phone, kept me putting me on hold. He told me that he had the driver on the other line and that he would be to my house soon. I told him I only wanted to reschedule. He then goes on to tell me that it was my fault and that if I had something to do, I should of said something. I was unsure of what he was referring to so once again I told him my reason for rescheduling was due to him being so late and I wouldn't have the full two hours. The person on the phone hung up after that. So needless to say I will not attempt to conduct any further business with this extremely unprofessional company. read more

This driving school program definitely is helpful to initially get anyone who has never had any experience driving on the road. I learned a lot just on my very first day, and started to feel comfortable driving within 3-4 lessons. What I like about this school is that there isn't a set amount of lessons that you are required to take. You can pay for as many lessons as needed, and when you aren't taking lessons you can practice driving on your own, which in my case, I did with my parent's car. The teachers are for the most part all very friendly and easy to talk to, some were even quite funny! They provide very nice cars for you to learn in, and at no point did I feel that any of their vehicles were unsafe or dirty. I would say that their teaching methods are effective! They give a lot of good tips, and really help you understand the concepts of traffic lights, signs, turning, wheel control, parking, etc. Unfortunately there are also a few downsides. The main thing I didn't like about this company was that they didn't give me the same teacher every time I had a lesson. I had to go through 3 different teachers and 3 different cars, which made the process of learning a little slower. Every time I received a new teacher, I would have to again be reevaluated in terms of my skill level. Every teacher also taught very differently and it made it a lot harder for me to learn efficiently. I think if I stuck with one teacher throughout my time at Wilmington Driving School my experience would be a lot better. There was also one time when my teacher completely forgot I booked a lesson, they quickly allowed me to reschedule, but the fact that they forgot a lesson was a bit irritating. The last complaint I would have is that some teachers were better then others. I felt like the teachers weren't always consistent. I had some teachers who would work with me overtime, challenge me, and communicate in a calm and understanding manner. However I also had a teacher who once cut my learning off time short by 30min because they had to go get another student... that made me very unhappy. Overall, I would give this school 4 stars as I did successfully learn a lot in terms of how to drive, which allowed me to pass my drivers test on my first try. I think their customer service could use a little bit more work, but this is a great company to work with if you have no experience with driving and are nervous to begin! They really helped me build my driving confidence. I would suggest anyone thinking about this school to book at least one lesson just to try it out and see if their teaching methods are a good fit for you. We did have a hiccup with VA but we would like to thank Jaden, the VA certify official for correcting it. This school is very structured with reading, course work and LOTS of hands on experience. He REALLY liked ALL of the instructors. He learned different things from each one of them and they really make you feel valued and want you to be successful. At this school you cannot slack off. You have to be completely committed especially in the 1 month course because it moves very quickly. My husband cant say enough about the hands on experience. The team really prepares you for your CDL and gets you excited about your new career. My husband recently retired from the military after 21 years of service. Its unnerving leaving something that you have known for so long but he is excited about this new adventure because he now has the skills to be successful because of the instructors. After the completion of this course he was able to secure a Full-Time Mon.-Fri. position driving with a National company. If your are looking to obtain your Class A CDL we would say American Driver Training Academy is a great choice.

I was just four months old in the US and had never driven before so being an amateur, who knew nothing about driving and who was so new to the country, getting a drivers licence and imagining myself on the road driving even at 20 miles/hour looked like a gigantic task. Then someone referred me to the Wilmington driving school, saying that these guys are really good at what they do. Good that I listened to my friend and enrolled for these 2 hrs classes. It just took me about 6 classes to get my licence, yes you are reading this right just 6 classes and one attempt at the driving test got me the licence. The instructors were too good right from day one, highly skillful, very patient and extremely helpful. They were very accommodating while scheduling the classes as I was working 9-6, they had classes starting from 7am up until 4pm. So the 7-9 slot worked for me for weekdays and Saturday I would do 12. Also my actual test date was 3 months away, so the best part was they helped me reschedule my test to a much earlier date as soon as they realized that I was ready. It was amazing experience for me getting to drive for the first time and these guys made my job a cakewalk. I am really thankful to them specially to the Manager, Harrison for being so patient with me and I would definitely advice them to anyone who wants to learn to drive effectively and efficiently. read more

This driving school was recommended by friends, thereby thought of starting off with a lesson and ended up taking many & finally got my license through them. It was a great experience - lessons are tailor made to individual experience and learning aptitude. You will be on the same page as the school in terms of your learning & progress, they won't try to pinch money out of your pockets! Abbas (my trainer) is a great instructor (& nice person), he will train you for both the test and actual driving on the roads (not just to make you pass somehow!). You will be treated to few street smart tips that will come handy when you hit the road on your own. I would highly recommend Wilmington driving school & Abbas if you are looking for a great learning experience and sail through the test at your first attempt... With Wilmington Driving School I Had a AWESOME experience with both of my driver's Maxwell and Harrison. They always gave me confidence when i got into their cars I was always nerves and scared but they taught me to be me and always be relaxed. I had a time when they forgot me and they had a misunderstanding between driver's LOL i call them and harrison was very upset at the person and apologize to me we laughed about it and i said it was OK mistakes happen and i would never put that against them. People comment in here about them being late is very ignorant because you have to understand they are teaching other people and their is traffic so hey can be sum time off the time they gave you.. Thank god i never had that problem and if I did i would understand them that just they THANK YOU AGAIN IF IT WAS NOT FOR YOU I WOULD HAVE NOT GOTTING MY LICENSE TODAY AND THE CONFIDENCE TO DRIVE.... Wilmington Driving School is unique to other driving schools in the area in that they provide the individual guidance needed to obtain a license and to become a life-long defensive driver. The driving instructors identify your weaknesses and work with you to improve these areas. Harrison, my instructor, is a great teacher. He will train you for both the test and real life situations while at the same time providing helpful tips that will come in handy when you start driving on your own. I don't usually write reviews but I had such a wonderful experience using this driving school that I just had to. Harrison was my instructor and he prepared me not only to pass my road test on the first try, but also to feel comfortable behind the wheel-- which I didn't think would ever be possible! As someone who never drove when I was younger, I was very nervous about finally trying to get my license when I first contacted Wilmington Driving School. But they helped me to conquer my fears by giving me plenty of pointers, being extremely patient, catering the instruction to my learning style, and allowing me to practice at my own pace. I think they did a great job, honestly. They help make sure you get your appointment. They come in on time, are quite nice and respectful, plus I learned a great deal from them. Something that my High School failed at doing. I don't think theres been one day where I felt I wasn't improving. They are also very well organized too. If theres one thing I have a little bit of a problem with is that it can be a bit pricey, but I feel the money it worth it if you want to learn how to drive. I don't usually rate things on a perfect score, but for this school I'm giving it all five stars. read more

This is the best driving school I've come across so far. The instructors were extremely well at teaching with patience and made it comfortable to drive. The car from the driving school was really easy to drive. I have a driver's license from my country, but I was still nervous driving in the U.S. During these days, they helped me a lot to understand how driving defensively and abiding the laws is so importing for all drivers and how it can help us go throughout our lives and avoid even the smallest of accidents. Just got my license today!! My friends recommend Wilmington Driving School to me and I would also highly recommend it to my other friends (actually just did it! =]) I learned driving skills not only to pass the test but also practical tips for real road driving. Harrison is my instructor. He is super AMAZING!!! He is the EXPERT for EVERYTHING, especially vehicle and DMV related, lol. I also learned a lot from him about all the car registration thing. I must confess that this driving school is exceptional. The level of service that they deliver speaks volume. Hats off to Mr. Harrison and Mr. Sam, great instructors. I worked with Harrison. If you follow his step by step instruction, you are guaranteed success at passing the DMV road test. Practicing on the grounds of the DMV and following the actual standards of DMV examiners was the key to passing the road test. Most importantly, Harrison instructs you to be a life long safe and defensive driver. read more

Good driving school. The tutor put me on the road on the first day. It seemed dangerous, but it did make me brave. The skills for road test were very helpful. I passed the test one time. With the help of tutors, I believe learners can drive better. Driving is not a hard thing as long as you are brave to start it and practice everyday. read more
