I do not know the specifics of the negative review below, but the school is small (10 kids per grade level) and does not have the resources of larger schools. The learning is fun, interactive, and centered around the abilities of the students, and the hands-on methods of teaching allowed me to understand and apply concepts to real-life situations. I never had to ask myself "Why does this matter?" The teachers there were/are like parents to me, and I knew that I could always come to them with any struggles I might be having, emotionally or academically. The environment is safe and nonjudgemental; my NCCL family has truly shaped me as a person. Although I have had struggles with anxiety since an early age, the staff has always cared for and supported me in even my loftiest goals. When I was in eighth grade, I told my writing teacher, Kate, that I wanted to write a novel by the end of the year, and with her help and constant reinforcement, I completed it. Now, I am an English major with a Writing Concentration at Gettysburg College (minors in Literature and Studio Art). I had a 4.5 GPA throughout high school, and I now have a 4.2 GPA in college. I am a published author, journalist, and artist, as well as the editor for our on-campus literary and art magazine. None of this would have been possible without the support and aid of the teachers at NCCL, who encouraged me to think deeply, and pursue my interests doggedly. NCCL is the most accepting community that I have ever had the privilege of entering, and the staff works hard to accommodate students and families. They have plentiful compassion and experience when it comes to working with children with learning disabilities, and the environment of the school itself is welcoming and supportive to all. This school is a family, and I was so lucky to be a part of it. I will be forever grateful for my time at NCCL.

The building first housed 303 children in 8 classrooms. As work was being finished on the school, the parish continued to outgrow Saint John's Church in Newark. The building attached to the school became Holy Angels Church and served the community as a church until 2004. The building of a new church began in 1999 and was dedicated in July 2004. In February 2006, work began on the old worship space to covert it back to the gymnasium it was originally planned to be. On September 30, 2006, the community was very excited to dedicate the new Holy Angels Gymnasium/Community Center as it celebrated its 50th Anniversary as a school.

Disappointing Ethics and Neglect at Sanford School…read more Sanford School markets itself both as a premier educational and athletic institution, but our firsthand encounter has been far from satisfactory. I am deeply saddened, and disappointed in the lack of integrity, ethics, equity and professionalism displayed by Sanford School. Particularly in President Mark Anderson, and their girls' basketball program under Coach Marcus Thompson. Firstly, Coach Thompson's unethical practices have marred what should be a fair, equitable and enjoyable sporting experience for young female athletes. Coach Thompson has blatant disregard for DIAA rules and DE State laws. His commited offenses of Illegal recruiting practices, mental abuse, verbal degradation, and playing favorites are just some of the major issues never addressed by leadership. These are frequent daily occurrences and systemic issues going back as far as 15 years. They tarnish the integrity of the sport and the overall well-being of the players/students. When confronted about these issues, Coach Thompson, Pat Jones(AD), and Mark Anderson resort to gaslighting tactics. Attempting to discredit concerned parents by labeling them as "crazy". This behavior creates a toxic environment for the players and their families. When I raised my concerns with the administration, including AD Pat Jones and President Mark Anderson, instead of addressing the presented documented evidence of misconduct, I was met with dismissiveness and deflection. Rather than investigating the valid complaints brought forward by multiple families, they chose to vilify the concerned parents, portraying them as irrational and problematic. Furthermore, the lack of response and action from President Mark Anderson despite multiple complaints and emails from over 10+ families is disheartening. Despite the numerous families voicing their grievances and providing substantial proof of wrongdoing, the administration has chosen to turn a blind eye. It is evident that the school prioritizes the success of its basketball program (including the focus on revenue-driven recruitment tactics) over the well-being and fair treatment of its students and their families. Promises of basketball success and a great educational experience are nothing but empty words, as the reality paints a starkly different picture. As a paying "customer" of Sanford School, I expected transparency, fairness, and accountability from the leadership. Instead, what we have encountered is negligence, evasion of responsibility, and a blatant disregard for ethics and the law. It is clear that the school's focus is on revenue generation rather than upholding its values and providing a safe and nurturing environment for its students. In conclusion, I urge prospective parents and students to carefully consider their options before choosing Sanford School. The issues within the girls' basketball program and the leadership's refusal to address them reflect a deeper problem of misplaced priorities and lack of integrity within the institution. We are the proud parents of two Tatnall students, one in the Lower School and one in the Middle…read moreSchool. When we joined the Tatnall community, we found the students, teachers, and administrators to be welcoming and professional. Parents also appeared friendly, and we believed the school was committed to providing an excellent education. Over time, however, our experience changed significantly. When concerns arose, we expected open dialogue and transparency. Instead, we often found that questions were met with resistance rather than constructive discussion. We frequently felt discouraged from seeking clarification, and routine inquiries were met with pushback. Rather than being treated as valued partners in our children's education, we were left with the impression that parents were expected to either accept decisions without question or leave the school. As parents of color, we also experienced what we perceived to be greater resistance when raising concerns. Those experiences left us feeling increasingly unwelcome and, in our view, were inconsistent with Tatnall's stated commitment to inclusion, respect, and community. Although many parents were outwardly cordial, those interactions often felt superficial. At times, it appeared that diversity was valued more as an appearance than as a genuine commitment to inclusion. While we cannot speak to others' intentions, our experience was that we were not fully embraced as members of the Tatnall community or included in the same ways as many other families. We recognize that our experience may not reflect that of every family. However, we believe some families may be reluctant to voice concerns out of fear of potential repercussions. We hope the new Head of School will bring meaningful improvements. In our view, however, lasting change will require more than new leadership. It will require a sustained commitment to transparency, accountability, genuine inclusion, and a culture that welcomes respectful questions and differing perspectives throughout the administration, the Board of Trustees, and the broader school community.

Kids are getting a well-rounded education. The math and science departments are top-notch. Art and…read moremusic department are known for being strong as well. This is a solid K-12 school. I had one child graduate and a second currently in the upper school. The faculty and staff generally are strong with a couple of standouts. Students get out of it what they put into it, but Tatnall with give them every opportunity to open doors to determine their own future.
