The two stars is a gift... Willy's "they way life shouldn't be". The server we had screwed up "everything" we ordered from the wrong margaritas to forgetting a drink, then no plates or silverware. The two pineapple jalapeño margaritas tasted like fake watermelon and w/o jalapeño. The wings were bland and the rest of the food was off the mark and skimpy.. probably ok for a place to grab a beer but that's it. read more

Got a Stoneface IPA nice and cold, with a side of wings... completely happy!!!! We got sweet Thai chili, Jamaican jerk, lemon pepper, and garlic Parmesan. Such a great time- enjoyed the bartender, she was very knowledgeable of her beers and my husband tried a Lone Pine ale that he has never tried before but he loved it!!!! Second time going, first was in January 2020 and it was delicious then! The regular we sat near told us we needed to try the Mac and cheese so that's next time!!! read more

Terrific in all respects! As part of a group of five we were seated right away in a large booth. Our server was attentive, informative and very pleasant. We had great nachos - good chip quality! The dumplings were savory and the hot pretzel was of a generous portion. The chicken wings are a strong suit with many flavors. I had the bourbon maple flavored and they were scrumptious. They have a wide selection of house made beers and all the usual other bottles and drafts. Tasty Margaritas as well but of course it is worth it to get a higher tequila quality. Dessert were these fresh, wonderful house made individual cheesecakes. Yum city! The manager or owner, not sure, came to check and was friendly but not intrusive. Appreciated the check in. For comfort food dinner with zest at reasonable prices and really great service, Willy's was a winner for us. read more

Willies has the best juiciest wings around with over 30 sauces. Location: right on 109 in Actin maine. Parking lot behind the building is huge and if thats full you will have a long wait. Restaurant: always packed but can accommodate many. The place can get loud. There's four booths but maybe 20-30 hightops and about 25-30 bar seats. Apps are great and they drop/add menu items all the time. The bang bang shrimp and dumplings are our favorites. Wings: the 20 wing sampler allows you a choice of up to four flavors otherwise you can order 10 wings and one choice of sauce but order another sauce on the side to try other flavors. Staff: first there is Neil who hustles, engages and checks on everybody. Also he helps out which is a great sign of a good manager. Wait staff hustles and checks up often. Just a warning as when it's busy, bar gets backed up, often taking 15-20 minutes to get drinks to table. read more

Had a terrible experience. Went here one night and the bartender acted like a complete bitch and our drinks were very strong. Later found out she just didn't like one the girls that was with us. The bartenders name was Taylor. 10/10 don't recommend the fake blonde. read more

First things first, Willy's is a dive. It's a good dive so to speak. The service is really good. I waited tables for ten years and when it's busy you better know what you want, which is usually the case here.The beer selection is endless. I started w the sampler and the tenders were the $8 kind. Fun place - good food - staff is very good and work hard to make your visit a positive experience

Had been berry picking in NH and home was via Rte 109. This cool place is at the top of an hill across from an apple orchard. At the recommendation of a lady leaving the small store we decided to stay for lunch. What a treat!!!!Booths, high tops, regular tables, bar seating. The wait staff- every one came by the table to greet us and to see how things were. Awesome variety on the menu!! I regret that I forgot to photo the Duck Confit Poutine- came in a huge bowl and two of us shared it. DO NOT MISS THIS!! Then I order a duck n cheese panini and salad- OOPS way too much food so half of it went home ( the balsamic dressing is excellent. The hand cut house made onion rings are also a must as is probably every burger on the menu ( his opinion!!) This is way out of our way but we will go back for the atmosphere, the poutine, and the employees!! read more

This used to be an ok restaurant but it has gone down hill the last couple years. My family and I have had several negative encounters with staff members when we tried to get orders fixed or simply got forgotten about one time. The food quality has also changed significantly.The portion sizes keep getting smaller and the prices have gone way up. The last several times we have ordered from them most, if not all of us got sick. We have decided we won't be getting food there anymore. read more

What a hidden gem in the strangest of places. It definitely isn't much to look at inside or out, and it definitely has a funky smell to the place. But, excuse me the menu is funky (in a good way) and definitely refreshing since I'm not a fan of typical pub fare. The menu is fairly large but not too overwhelming and it seems to cover all the bases AND basics. From poutine, short ribs, ramen, fried classics and giant grilled asparagus salad I'm impressed considering this is out in the middle of no where Maine. The wings were good, and I enjoyed the variety of sauces. Miso honey was the best, wasn't a fan of their popular gold rush though. They were crispy, and juicy. Only one wing tasted a bit old & underseasoned out of the 10 I ate. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. My short rib grilled cheese was enormous and filled to the brim with meat. The salad equally large (dinner size) generous amount of toppings. Service was friendly and pretty prompt, but it was also a fairly empty restaurant on a Wednesday evening. read more

we live locally and loved Willy's! recently we have not had the best service. we have been getting takeout since a recent eat In experience had us there for over two hours and another waitress had to take over our table. unfortunately tonight we had a horrible experience where we got there early for our takeout, got a drink at the bar and were told our takeout was ready on a nearby takeout table. next thing we knew someone took our food. instead of offering to make us a new order they called the person who took our order and 20 minutes later it was brought back and we were asked if we still wanted it. we declined . they made us a "new order" which was clearly (by consistency and taste) just heated up, which we waited an additional 15 minutes for. when I got home and tasted it I called the manager and got berated with questions instead of just offering a refund. So sad it's not what it used to be. read more

Impressive at Willy's. Last time I was here it was loud biker bar. Staff polite and respectful along with the bartenders as well. Going to miss Wing Night and Saturday night Prime Rib. The first time I dined there I was surprised by the beer selection. Rather than having just piss-water Bud or Miller, I was happy to be offered brown ales and porters. The food was decent, even good, for Acton. The second time my family and I arrived it wasn't as busy and we thought perhaps the service would be a little better. We waited for five minutes and asked for a menu. Five more minutes and then we asked for a drink. Though we tried to remain patient, we walked out 5 minutes later. I guess the service can be a little hit or miss. I'm going to give Willy's another chance, and hopefully bump up the review. read more

First time trying Willys and had a great experience. Wings were on special and we had the Jamaican Jerk. They were large and perfectly spiced. Then tried the dumplings and again were amazed. Great selection of beer too. My husband got to speak to one of the brewers about the beer he was trying to find out how it was made. Very friendly bar and waitstaff. Ordered takeout from here on a Thursday evening, and was told that it would be a 30 minute wait--that was no problem. We arrived at the restaurant and were immediately alarmed by the number of cars in the parking lot, especially as this is during the Covid-19 pandemic. Went in at the half an hour mark and waited in a packed lobby for more than 30 more minutes making the total wait time over an hour. Maine Covid-19 protocol was very loosely followed, if at all. Very few people were wearing masks (including staff members), it was "seat yourself" style with what appeared to be regular table spacing, and additionally no spacing at the bar. Lastly, the food was quite unimpressive after we finally received it. We didn't order anything fancy either--burgers and fries. Won't be returning... read more

I love Willy's Ale Room. It is one of my favorite spots to eat at because of their caring staff, and amazing food. It is a little slow sometimes but the food is worth it. The manager is super nice, and the staff work really hard to give you a great experience. My favorite food to get here is probably the steak and cheese calzone. 10/10 do recommend this restaurant. read more

Everything at Willie's is great. The food is awesome. The staff is exceptional. The atmosphere is great. We went in a friends recommendation. We got the wing sampler, twice baked potato skins and cheesy French fries. the food was great. The wings were meaty and juicy, the skins were awesome, and even though the fries were a bit limp, they were converted in cheese and bacon. The worst thing I could say is that although the wings were quality, the flavor of them was very weak. And maybe that's my preference, but that's not what makes them bad, it's just the one thing I personally long for. As far as the staff, we had two gals who, I think, were bartenders. None the less, both were attentive, courteous and very pleasant. They were always available, ahead of the curve with refills and check ins and on point in every regard. After dinner the owner? manager at least? checked in to confirm that the food was good that the servers were on point and to thank us (profusely) for going there for dinner. Fact of the matter: not perfect (I'm extraordinarily picky about wings, I know) but extraordinary as a whole. Call my review a 4.75, with the hope for a thicker flavor point to put it at a perfect 5. Willy's is a nice big pub with lots of seating. It is a family atmosphere with very good food. They have your typical burgers and wings, but also excellent meals. A few of our favorites are the fish tacos, poutine with short ribs and the scallop and bacon pizza. There is a great beer selection with some of their own brews. They also have custom cocktails and mock tails. They get very busy because it is one of the few local places to eat. read more

This place is awesome nice place to dine or just hang out and have some beers and cocktails. Really good menu with lots of different options. In my opinion the thing that this place is really know for is its wing nights on Tuesday and Thursday night. Wings are 50cents each you gotta get 10 at a time my favorite wings are gold rush and if you ask your sever I'm sure they will tell you there the most popular. I have eaten wings at probably a 100 different bars and restaurants none of which can even come close to theses wings in taste and size. If you dare they have crazy hot wings as well that you have to sign a waver to eat I made that mistake once never again will I eat those finger of god wings again. read more

We love The Shed and Willy's Ale Room. Three different atmospheres under one roof with the same, extensive menu. Bar and high tops, picnic tables and pool, or a higher end atmosphere in the circular room. Food is fresh, service is top notch. It's a place the locals and seasonal folks go to enjoy a creative menu in a country setting. We always feel welcome as soon as we hit the door. Only suggestion; more craft beer options for those of us who like craft. Still a 5 tho. Always a great time and we've enjoyed the outdoor patio in the summer. They keep increasing their prices and the quality of the products have continued to decrease. What was once a friendly, affordable place to go to eat has become out of touch with the neighbors. I'm sure the seasonals from Massachusetts will be fine with it. Yes prices have gone up but Willy's raises their prices regularly. Let's see what happens next winter! read more

First and only time coming here. Great experience. 10 for $12 wings hot buffalo was fantastic. Flavorful and not spicy as expected. Pleasantly surprised at the flavor. Also got the Willy's Philly and it was great. The place is cool to look around at and it is huge--nice view of the mountains from some seats. Overall great food great staff great environment. So we drove the almost 3 hours. We found tons of smiles and very helpful people. We started with the fried pickels. They wazzz very good. Kim the cheeseburger n fries. I got the chicken wing sampler. 20 wings. Ate half. Exceptional. Kim's burger was just as good. Then she dipped in the homemade blue cheese dressing. She lost her mind. This place is our new go to. I stop in here every chance I get. Awesome wings and pizza! Onion rings are the best! I've been here dozens of times and never had a problem with wait times or the staff. Although I usually stop in mid afternoon so I probably miss the late night mayhem. One word of warning on the hot wings....stupid mofo is about the last level of hot that is enjoyable. We had dinner at Willy's Saturday night. After reading the reviews here I expected food would be good but service just ok on a busy Saturday night. I was wrong both were great! We were greeted at the door when we looked lost since the regulars know to just seat themselves. The woman greeting us offered us the choice to wait for a booth opening up and had us sit in a waiting area and got us drinks and menus. I had the Kona Big Wave ale on tap. Delicious. The menu had many great choices but we are Pad Thai snobs and had heard theirs was good so ordered it along with fried dumplings, fried cauliflower appetizers and 10 Buffalo wings number w on the 1-10 hot scale. From the very nice presentations to the taste they rivaled fine dining at twice the price that we have had all over the world. Don't get me wrong this is not a linen tablecloth place. While the food was served on China with great presentations not just lumps of food the dinner plates were paper. Sports TVs were on and the place was hopping with families of all ages. We just loved it. And several wait staff and maybe the owner all checked in to be sure we liked everything and thanked us for coming as we left. We were shocked at how great everything was given its location in the middle of rural Maine. We are not friends or family or workers at Willy's and I don't just write good reviews of places but this one is a real Gem that we will be back to. Oh and I might be brave and go to a 3 on the hot scale for the fabulous wings. Can't imagine a 10 that didn't involve general anesthesia.
