We visited this place based upon other Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. It's in an old historic building with a "Mayberry" feel. The staff was friendly and the menu has some interesting variations on hot dogs. They also offer deli sandwiches using Boar's Head meats. Hot dogs are Nathan's. This is a hidden gem of a deli near Charlotte. I have been to almost every deli in and around the city and Will's is hands down THE BEST and closest to a NY style deli in the south. Located just around the corner from George Poston Park (25 minute drive from the city) in a small, yet adorable store. The owner is extremely friendly and it has more of a southern hospitality feel to the inside. I make the drive once a week for their build your own turkey sandwich. I highly recommend having them press your sandwich to give it a crunchy feel on the outside. Huge selection of meats, cheeses and extras to put in your sandwich, along with chips, candy tubs, chocolates and drinks. This place looks a little funky when you first pull up. It's an old converted house, tucked away in the greenery. Parking can be a little tight right at lunch time. The paint is peeling everywhere. Let's call it rustic. Don't let it deter you. Inside is homey and kind of charming. It's the kind of place that makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk inside. Move to the right to order your sandwiches. Make sure you check the specials board. There are menus on the counter which describe the sandwiches and hot dogs in detail. The board above the counter only offers names and prices. I did as I always do. I asked the young woman helping me, what was most popular and what was her favorite. Since the NYPD made both her lists, that's what I ordered. Service was great by the way. It was a very tasty sandwich. Similar to a Philly cheesesteak but with bacon, banana peppers, lettuce and tomato added. The meat was well seasoned, tender and really flavorful and the bacon added a nice crispy texture. The "wedge" sub roll it came on was nice and soft. All in all, a great choice. As you wait for your food you can pick bottled drinks from the cooler or chips and sweets from the shelves. There's other stuff here too. I wouldn't call it a "store" but they have some things you can buy. Mostly food items like homemade pickles. I saw several reviews which mentioned this place was on the pricey side. I paid $11 for a large sandwich, chips and a bottled soda. I don't think that's much more than I would pay at a place like Subway, and this was much, much better. If you're in the area and like sandwiches, it's definitely worth the stop. read more

So this deli, kind of off the beaten path, is really trying to make some NY Style sandwiches. They're doing a pretty good job too. Hotdogs by Nathan's, cooked onions by Sabrett's, Sodas by Dr. Brown's. The dining area is bit small and so is the parking lot. Diners turn over pretty quickly and a lot of their business is call in/take out orders, so you won't have to wait long for a seat. I couldn't resist ordering the New Yorker - a Pastrami Sandwich, with thin sliced pickles and mustard on marbled rye. It was delicious - all the flavors were spot on. So is it NY Style, yes. Is it NY authentic? No, it ain't Katz's but that's a whole different ballpark. Yes, they are a little pricey to not include at least a small side/half ounce bag of chips but I like what they're doing here. Focusing on flavor and quality. Walking in Wills Doggn' immediately brought back some memories, remembering Deaton's barrel of 5¢ apples & the huge candy counter once there, Wills has a really unique comfortable atmosphere & in my opinion A dang good Coney Style (mustard, chili, onion) Hot Dog. Decided to come here based on other reviews. It is a very unassuming spot. Old and worn but quaint and pleasant. 4 employees working hard. Was greeted immediately upon arriving at the counter. Ordering process was a little confusing as the deserts are at the checkout not the ordering spot. So basically you come in and order on the right, they have tea and bottled drinks out the cooler. You need to ask for a cup if you want tea when you order. Then you can go sit down and eat and pick up chips or other offerings and eat. Then pay when done. I ordered the philly all the way. By far the best tasting philly I have had in a while. The meat was plenty not skimped on like most places that sale the philly. The onions cheese and mushrooms were perfect amounts. A problem I m not sure how to fix. The meat was so juicy and tender which was awesome but left the bread soggy which took away from what otherwise was an awesome sandwich. Maybe press the meat a tad or find somehow to drain off excess juice before going on bread. Overall a great lunch and enjoyable atmosphere. I would recommend to anyone. I was a little agitated at the overall price of $17.40 with a buck fifty being the tip. But when I was finished I still had half a sandwich and half dessert for another meal. I just can not complain. Philly cheese,Reuben, grilled cheese with bacon and two carolina dogs They are located in a cute house. Friendly staff. The food was ready exactly when they told me. Not expensive There were mixed reviews for the sandwiches. The philly got rave compliments , it was tender,flavorful and big The hot dogs were good, not great. They use Nathan's so you know what you get The grilled cheese was good. Hot and plenty of bacon The Reuben however had very stale dry bread. Ingredients were good but the stale bread made it inedible. My friend shared half the philly so she had something to eat. Will's Doggn' It is an unassuming spot in tiny Ranlo, NC. They offer a variety of sandwiches, hot dogs, deli meat, sides like pasta and potato salad, and some other cool things like old-timey candies as well as a shelf full of authentic Italian ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, and the like. For lunch, I got their philly cheesesteak which comes with shaved london broil, provolone, and sauteed onions and mushrooms. I also added raw onion for some bite and some hot cherry peppers. I found the use of london broil rather than ribeye for a cheesesteak a little questionable, but my concerns were abated after the first bite. The beef was every bit as tender and juicy as you'd want in a cheesesteak. The perfectly melted provolone mixed with the juices from the onions and mushrooms, creating a sort of impromptu cheese sauce, which was delicious and made it incredibly messy to eat. Based on the way it tastes, I didn't mind one bit. We each got sides of their macaroni salad which was light for a mayo-based side, and had some nice crunch from some diced veggies in it. The macaroni was mercifully spared from being overcooked as so many such examples of a cold salad are, so that was a big plus in my book. We each had a diet cream soda from their cooler, where they have a nice variety of beverages. My only comment here would be to stock a few more zero calorie non-sugary beverages. I've enjoyed all the sandwiches and hot dogs I've had here, and have just two small suggestions for improvement. First, the hot dogs really need to get some color on them to unlock their flavor potential. They're cooked through, but could use some higher-heat searing to get some browning on them. Second, the rolls they use for their wedge sandwiches are high quality, but could stand to be lightly toasted or even grilled on their flat top. It would bring their non-pressed sandwiches to the next level. Overall, for the price and quality, you can't beat this place. read more

It feels the void, I say. The Reuben sandwich looked and was packaged good, but the rye bread wasn't up to my standard (tasted greasy). The corn beef was oddly chewy. The sauerkraut was a little dried out, like it was not submerged in the juice it comes packaged in ...for some time. A lot of others in the restaurant seemed to of been satisfied with their food. I'm a bit of a foodie, always in search of another superb place to eat that has a unique flavor, but this place didn't meet my standard. What a little gem which Yelp helped me find. It is small and rustic, but that is their plan. Seats about 25 or so. Country store feel. They are a really good NY Deli with Boars Head products, and great Nathan's brand hotdogs. I had a sandwich called an NYPD with thin shaved pastrami, pickles and mustard on marbled rye. I also had 2 chili cheese dogs on pretzel rolls. What an awesome roll!!! So glad I found this during my work visit here. When I get back here, I will certainly go here. Go and give it a chance. Congratulations to Will's Doggin' It Deli & Market for winning best hot dog of Best of Gaston 2018! That's the primary reason my family tried this place for the first time. I'm grateful my husband told me what it looked like or I would have completed drove by it. They have a sign, but the way it's set up it's easy to miss. It almost looks like they refurbished an old house. Inside it looks kinda like an old country store which gives it that local business feel. I don't know if they have A/C because when we arrived they had a door open and all the fans on. It was pretty warm on the inside but I wasn't too bothered by it. We were the only customers when we walked in, so I assume most people choose this place for lunch instead of dinner. There was a pretty large selection of food on the menu and the prices were very affordable. The only downside was that there was no kid's menu. Our kids are picky eaters so they only chose to drink a yoo-hoo. Even though the menu requests you to be patient since the food is cooked to order I didn't think we had to wait long at all. The people bringing our food were extremely nice, and made sure everything was correct. I ordered the nacho dog and it was absolutely fantastic. I had two, and probably could have ate a third one because they were so good. Everything on it was high quality, from the bun to the chilli. I really liked that the chilli had a little bit of heat to it, and the corn chips on top just really made it stellar. I can't wait to stop by again. read more

Was working in the area and decided to stop in. Always love visiting the delis when in NYC so we had to check this place out. It's definitely in a small town and off the beaten path but the food was excellent. We were greeted by a nice girl who took our order and was excellent in explaining things for us and even making a custom accommodation on one of their hotdogs. The food was excellent and definitely made me feel as if I was in a small delicatessen in NYC. The owner walked around and was talking to customers and making sure everything was good which I thought was nice. I got the NYPD, a chili cheese dog and my coworker got the Italian and a pretzel dog. We were extremely satisfied. Somewhat an odd location in such a small town for such a great shop but I hope the locals will support it. read more

We are now going every Friday morning. "Phenomenal" doesn't start to describe this place.
