Not a whole bunch of shaded areas on playground, and you can smell the dumpsters really strongly in the heat, as they are right at entrance of playground. The playground has a great rubber base which is terrific for the little ones who tend to fall down a lot. Note that the parking lot is shared by the nearby church so you may have trouble parking on a Sunday morning. The large picnic shelter is reservable. A couple of nice big dog parks but one is often locked up. This is a well used small park. The back fields that are used for soccer and lacrosse are awful. They're grass and get muddy with just a little bit of rain. Or when it hasn't rained in awhile, the red dust blowing covers everything. The makeshift road that everybody drives on to park closer to the fields have deep ruts and cross over part of the walking path. There's paved parking but this is the best way to park closer to the fields for lacrosse and soccer games. And when there's also baseball games going, parking is wherever you find it, even on grass, Thankfully, the city has earmarked some funds to renovate the fields, make them turf, and put in more parking spaces. Can't wait for that.

Located off Hwy. 115 between Cornelius and Huntersville, the park encompasses 57 acres and includes two lighted soccer fields and a football field, three lighted tennis courts, two lighted baseball/softball fields, two full-court basketball courts, a running track, a walking/jogging loop, two playground areas and two sheltered picnic areas with public restrooms. Oh, and there is a 9-hole disc golf course as well. An outdoor band shell was erected in 2007. It stands on the north side near the two soccer fields and has hosted everything from concerts to theatrical performances. While the basketball courts are vaguely lit in the evenings, it is enough to shoot around once your eyes adjust. The lights at the tennis courts shut off at 10:30, and many is the time I have been in the middle of playing, with a ball screaming towards me off a serve, when the lights cut out! Its just an excellent place to get your exercise on.
