Cross underneath transmission lines

Checked out Mountain Creek Park on a gorgeous Saturday morning to check out the hiking trails. Super easy to get to from Charlotte. It's actually just 10min more than just heading to crowders and we'll worth it. All the facilities are brand new: office, restrooms, playground, pickle ball courts, dog park, and kayak launches as well as very well marked and maintained trails. Some trails are "hikers only" others are "Mountian bike only". Be sure to pay attention to the one way direction signage for hiking and biking, but the mountain bikers we encountered gave us a good warning before coming upon us. We also kept our heads on a swivel just to be extra careful. The park rangers and staff are super friendly and there are plenty of maps and markings throughout the park. Make sure to check online if the trails are open or not! It's good that they close them when the trails are muddy or conditions are poor so that no one gets hurt and the trails don't get torn up. Lots of parking and picnic areas here! Overall a nice place to spend a day outside with friends and family.

Grand Opening Day sign!

It was a great grand opening for a new park in Catawba County! Lots of vendors and activities for the kids! This is the place to be for bike trails and play time for children with lots of energy. Parking is free! Large number of parking spaces. Dog park available also but keep your pet on a leash.

So much fun! We love the paved trail, Stormie Normie. The kids absolutely love the playground and my 2 year old enjoys the little critters inside as well as the butterfly photo op painting. We still have so much to explore!

The paved trail that we took, Stormie Normie, was really nice down to the water where we saw the kayak drop in area and another waterfront area.

Over some relatively smooth grass, so not completely handicapped accessible. Entrance to the park requires registration with the City of Davidson Police Department where you'll be required to bring a copy of the rabiest vaccination certificate. Inside the fully enclosed park, there are water fountains, shaded areas, places for the humans to sit and even a hiking trail and natural area. It's really pretty darned cool. A few folks have left doggie toys for play. [Review 13409 overall, 728 of 2020.]

You end up with community gardens, childrens play area, nice quiet area to sit and reflect and a very nice dog park. Lexi (Welsh Corgi) and I went to explore today Took a bit of hunting plus a GPS to find the park but well worth it. Ample parking, nice double gate to get in, tennis balls for our furry friends, picknic tables and sitting areas for the humans and a big water dish. Unfortunately it had just stopped raining when we got her so there were no dogs for Lexi to play with. Nice facility otherwise. Strongly suggest as a different place to bring your friendly canine

I am not sure if Lincoln County is keeping up the maintenance on it. This park has multiple multi-sport fields with soccer goals and lacrosse nets on hand. There is a 3/4 mile asphalt path around the fields for running/walking. Kids have a small playground with some swings, merry-go-round, two climbing gyms and slides. There are two dog runs one for big and one for small dogs. Both are devoid of grass and need attention. There is a large outdoor picnic shelter with restrooms and water fountains. Last of all the disc golf course created by some Eagle Scouts just off the edge of the north side of the park. It is well conceived but overgrown and not maintained. I have written the county about the minimal maintenance needed to bring this park up to a great place, and I encourage you to do the same. recreation@lincolncounty.org

DO NOT BOARD AT LUCKY DOG! The dogs are most definitely not lucky when they're here…read more Our two dogs have come home covered in pee multiple times. When we dug further into it we found out they were NOT caring for our dogs. They have only 2 handlers for upwards of 100 dogs. One of our dogs came home with a huge gash on his face and they didn't catch it, or report it to us. They come home anxious every boarding visit. When we dug further we found out that one of our dogs was so anxious she was chewing on a cot (she doesn't chew things at home, or any other boarding place we've ever used.) Instead of telling us, they just made a note in their system that she doesn't get a cot... We asked them to kennel together and so both of our dogs were sleeping on cold hard tile floor for their entire stays, sometimes as long as a week or two when we've taken longer trips. Instead of taking any responsibility for any of this they blamed our dogs. Their manager confirmed to me they don't require handlers have ANY certifications or qualifications. I asked for a GM or assistant GM to get in touch with me about whether they even do background checks and they are ignoring us. Lucky Dog used to be great when they were family owned. Roughly around 2022 they were bought out by a corporation called Village Pet and it's clear they are trying to suck as much profit out of the business while they can. They've raised their rates and cut down on the staff. In NC handlers can only have 10 dogs out per handler so your pets are NOT getting as much attention or outside time as they should be. This place is the worst. We have 4 friends that also used Lucky Dog and after hearing what was happening they're also finding another boarding place. We'll be telling anyone who will listen to ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE.
