The Willoughby Lake Store is a great example of a country store stocking a wide variety of provisions for folks enjoying the great outdoors. You name it, they probably have it. Fishing supplies, an ice cream stand, an amazing deli, dry goods, Vermont products including Maple syrup, 802 Spirits, a well-stocked wine corner, domestic and craft beer. Well known Vermont company products like Cabot, McKenzie, and Green Mountain Coffee. Their outside picnic area is large and clean. It also has a gas station that is hard to come by in the heart of the NEK. My personal favorite are their homemade bulkie rolls. So good! Sandwich prices are reasonable and you can call ahead which I recommend. It's a busy spot located directly across from Vermont's famous glacier lake.

this used to be a great place. New owners as of a few years ago. Bare shelves, poor service. We just drive by now.

Has everything you might need for spending time on the lake. Order a meatball sub -- you won't be disappointed.

This place is such a gem. The soup of the day was amazing and the Rueben was perfect. The staff was…read moreso polite and the same woman that made our food brought it out with a smile even though she was working alone and doing it all. The music was on point, and the artwork is whimsical. Truly an elevated deli experience and worth the time and money 110%.

I've been wanting to eat here since I saw their spectacular Instagram Photos and Food Network…read moreChallenge that Stefano did. I also love the fact they are farm-to-table. Yesterday was the perfect opportunity to go, as I often times am in Barre when they are closed. I had the soup of the day, a Tonkatsu Pork Ramen described as a "rich pork broth, porchetta, wild mushrooms, fresh ramen." He'd asked me if I wanted a soy egg, which I should have asked what that was; I assume it was a fake egg versus an egg infused with soy sauce (next time, I will inquire), so I politely declined. It was a copious bowl of rich flavor: the porchetta was outstanding. The broth itself lacked a little flavor, initially, as I think I needed to mix the seasonings more. Once I did, YUM! My friend got the The Granite City, which is house maple-bourbon turkey, cheddar, cranberry mayo, LTO on cranberry pecan whole wheat. He asked if he could have it toasted (it was so chilly outside and we'd skied all morning) and Stefano said they don't normally do so, but sure, why not. My friend said it was delicious. Stefano later told us that he hadn't thought about toasting it before, as no one had ever asked, but he bet it was good. He was also really nice; he sells the Maple Sap Soda that I cannot find elsewhere and he was willing to sell us a six-pack. I considered it and then kind of forgot. I was tired from the cold and skiing. The food is great and the cafe is toasty and warm. I highly recommend.
