Visited some friends in North Williamsburg and instead of grabbing a Lyft or Uber back to Dumbo, I decided to hop on the Waterfront water taxi--and honestly, it was such a great choice! This beautiful esplanade provides a calming oasis. It's a great way to calm one's mind and take in the beauty of the surrounding Manhattan skyline. There is plenty of seating to catch up on reading, work or just sitting still. The East River ferry stops here to transport you to Manhattan. The waterfront is close to Bedford Avenue, the Main Street for shopping, dining and drinking. If you are in the mood for further wandering, Domino Park is very close by. All in all a great "getaway" in Brooklyn. read more

Beautiful view of the skyline from here. It's always nice even when the weather isn't nice. Williamsburg has all of those cool hipster bars and restaurants, but it also has a cool Waterfront. People like jogging or taking selfies on the piers. There's a ferry that goes across the East River. Here there's also pretty big concerts. It gets crowded at the festivals in the summer. There's been some pretty popular rock bands here, as well as the not as well known hipster folksy stuff. It's more enjoyable when there's not any of that going on. The music can be good, often bad, but it's always nice being able to enjoy the beauty and skyline. It also has a good view of the bridge. This isn't that far from it so you can access this park from it. It also has a ferry. It takes you to Manhattan. The East River Ferry is of course more expensive than just taking a subway. read more

Beautiful, gorgeous, and calming is what comes to mind when I visit this waterfront. Views of the water are just relaxing and distressing. I love that they keep this area clean and there are not a lot of "undesirables" hanging out in the park. There are some cool art pieces and tons of places to sit and chill. They have the ferry that transports you across to Manhattan. I was able to find street parking in the area. There were some nice spots to get some food, drinks or ice cream. This waterfront area is great for people of all ages and definitely a place to check out. read more

All I can say is amazing! The scenery is breath taking. Views of the water with Manhattan as the backdrop can have you snapping photo after photo. I could not get enough. This can be a great place to go to sit and relax and listen to the water splash against the rocks. There is plenty of seating. This waterfront is dog friendly so you will see people strolling along the boardwalk enjoying the scenery with their furry little friends. read more

Environmentally friendly development spanning from Red Hook Parks and Piers, to Brooklyn Waterfront Piers to Brooklyn Heights Promenade - and to Williamsburg Waterfront. Some parts are still under development, but it is still impressive - modern, clean, beautiful, with views of Manhattan and nearest bridges that will make tourists and locals alike run for the cameras. Trees, flowers, grass, paved areas, walkways, benches, piers and cool structures... Lots of people-watching, dog-walking, running and just strolling by going on. There is also Water Taxi, or East River Ferry Service (or whatever it called now, you get the point) - very convenient. Most outdoor venues in NY City are good. The Williamsburg Waterfront is exceptional for several reasons. Easy to reach by public transit; if you drive, the surrounding streets actually have parking available (un-metered as pointed out by another Yelper). Many places within a short walk to grab dinner or a drink. Not certain how many tickets are released for shows here; the crowd was very manageable at this show, no arena crowd madness. Oh BTW, there are no seats, general admission standing. Best of all, this venue has Manhattan as a backdrop.Sound quality was very good; another benefit of "open air". Just saw Belle and Sebastian on a perfect evening, the setting made the performance even better! . . .and we were not swept away by a tornado. read more

This past weekend we attended the Keane Concert with Ingrid Michaelson and Fran Healy from Travis at the Williamsburg Waterfront. It was an awesome experience. Especially at night seeing the most beautiful skyline in the world before you. Music was great, location was great. I liked the fact that the alcohol was in a separate space so you could not have drunken fools spilling beer on you. I came here last summer to see Band of Horses and Grizzly Bears and besides the music, everything else sucked. Hot as hell with no refuge from the sun. A line to get drink tickets only to wait on another line to get the drinks! No where to sit etc etc etc. You may be asking yourself "Why in gods name did you go back and why are you giving it 4 stars??". Let me explain. I saw that Death Cab for Cutie was playing there. I heart Ben Gibbard and had seen him live but never with Death Cab. I decided they were worth the sacrifice. My girlfriend and I found parking about 5 blocks away (score) and a nice air conditioned bar on the way to cool down for a moment. Thankfully it wasn't so humid so the sun drenched venue wasn't as bothersome as the prior experience. The lines were a lot shorter. maybe it was less people or maybe the venue is finally getting organized (I think last year was the first year they were open). The sound, like any outdoor venue, was "eh" but that's not why you go to this type of place. It's the magnificent view of Manhattan, the gorgeous sunset and the starry night sky. All in all, the show was amazing. There is nothing better than listening to your favorite band in such a beautiful setting. read more

Oh nagging Williamsburg Residents. Why'd you have to ruin all the fun. Heading into its forth year, the Williamsburg Waterfront concert venue has seen its bit of changes over the years, but it still makes for an awesome time. I've seen Weezer, STP (With Scott Weiland... Chester Bennington, WTF?!) and Cake at this venue. The original design was gorgeous. A spot right by the water, over looking Manhattan, plenty of grass to sit down. Food vendors all around and if you wanted to get closer you can go into the pit, right by the stage near the buildings. Though you can enjoy the music from wherever you were. Awesome experiences there. The new setup is a little different. Much more enclosed and not as many great scenes, but you can still rock out and have a great time. Last time I was so pumped for Cake and it being my birthday weekend I didn't even care about the new design. That or I was too inebriated. They just kicked off the new season with the Shins last weekend which I heard was a great time. The only downside to the venue is the fact the concerts have to end early by a certain time. This is a major bummer. The residents who complain about the noise are the same ones which forced the move. Don't fret, you can head to plenty of local bars nearby which should have some good live music playing till the late hours. C'mon by and enjoy the summer. read more

I was here last Tuesday to see Modest Mouse perform. I usually stick to small, indoor venues for music performances, but this turned out to be a really good spot to catch a show. There's a great view of the city across the water; just add perfect weather, a great band, and your favorite person on the planet who thinks you're the shht for getting tickets, and you are definitely in for a memorable experience. Notes: -they have a beer/wine section here, fenced off and manned by security, so bring your ID. and enough cash (only) to cover $6/small plastic cup of wine/beer. or, bring your own inconspicuously. you'll be patted down upon arrival, but if you tuck a flask, say in the ankle of your boot, you'll slide by. -i read on a site somewhere (maybe ticketmaster) that there was onsite parking. this is not true. you'll need to find a spot on the street if you're driving. i only had to park 6-7 blocks away. unmetered. -there are plenty of portajons. -being an outdoor venue, a show here may be cancelled due to bad weather. i understand MM was initially supposed to have performed here in July. luckily it was rescheduled. read more

I was standing with a beer in my hand listening to Fleet Foxes singing "Montezuma" with my eyes closed. The words came through the loudspeakers. "So now I am older/Than my mother and father/When they had their daughter/Now what does that say about me/How could I dream of/Such a selfless and true love/Could I wash my hands of/Just looking out for me." Pure Bliss. I know what you're thinking. This isn't a review of Fleet Foxes. Get to the point. I opened my eyes and saw Fleet Foxes on stage and then looked behind me and the New York skyline was sitting beautifully against the dark summer night. The combination was almost too much for me to handle. I began to tear up a little. This is simply a great concert venue. If you're on yelp to find out the scoop before you purchase tickets to see a band you love, get off my review right now and go purchase those tickets before they sell out. Summers in New York have included some of the best moments of my life, and this new venue is sure to add some more. Bring a special someone and you will instantly create a memory. Another great part about this venue that separates it from others? There's a section that is only 21+. The alcohol is served by the local companies Brooklyn Brewery and City Winery. Great alcohol. Even better, you never have to mingle with the teenagers, unless that's your thing. read more

A couple of weeks ago I saw Belle and Sebastian here. It's a great space, completely outdoors, with a jaw dropping view of the manhattan skyline. It's a worthy replacement of the McCarren Pool where a lot of shows used to happen. The one weird thing is since the space is all-ages, there is this whole complicated shuttling system that reminds me of the locks in a canal system. You have to funnel through these gates to get to the drink side, and back if you want to stand right in front of the stage. God forbid someone underage tastes a drop of beer! read more

Great view of the Manhattan skyline, and hip location. If not for these two things, Williamsburg Waterfront would have nothing going for it. So far, I've been here twice: to see belle & sebastian, then to see Death From Above 1979. Both bands put on excellent performances, but we aren't here reviewing THEM, but reviewing the VENUE (yeah, I won't be looking at the damn Manhattan skyline, but whoever is headlining the performance). One thing that I particularly irks me is that the area to buy alcoholic beverages is fenced away from the stage. Unless you have a way to smuggle alcohol/drinks/what have you into the venue before entering, there isn't much chance of drinking while watching the show (unless you buy booze from the fenced off area and find a way to bring it across the fence without the guards noticing. Difficult but do-able). Do I sound like an alcoholic? Perhaps. Alcoholics have problems. Real problems (with family, society, etc). My only problem with this place is my desire to go to a damn rock show and drink some damn beer while I watch. read more

Saw Kid Cudi here in July. Warm weather, cold beers, and plenty of open space. What else could you ask for. Stopped at Teddy's down the street for (check out my review) for some $1 Happy Hour beer specials. Can't go wrong with a cheap pregame before paying $5 a beer on the waterfront. They also had a wine option. They section off a 21+ area for the beer and it's pretty chill. You can see the stage to your left and it's not a bad view at all to be honest. Like how the locals who live there get a free show from their balconies. I'd love to live there. This is one of the places I didn't even know about in BK til I went to the show. Can't wait to see some more acts here since it was such a cool spot. Really easy to get to from Manhattan, as it is the first stop in BK of the subway. I recommend it highly during the warm weather months, so def check it out. ROCK ON! read more

Note, this isn't the waterfront anymore, but Williamsburg Park @ 50 Kent Ave. and 12th Street. Saw Bob Mould here last night. Perfect venue for this show. The sound was a little bouncy, but good for an outdoor space. (Honestly, I didn't care. I had an awesome time seeing Bob). The stage is ominous and the fenced in space is huge. It wasn't too crowded and I spied people sitting on blankets and they weren't being stepped on. It is a little difficult to stand on cement for two plus hours...but then again, I probably didn't have this problem 20 years ago. Ha. Some notes: -water, $3 (yikes, I can get that tiny bottle in my neighborhood for $1) -Food selection from 5 or so vendors, veg options available. -Beer and wine too (I drank beforehand though, so I didn't imbibe here) I'd definitely go back. read more

Perfect summer afternoon venue! Saw my first concert ever there last summer and really enjoyed it. Easy to get to, bars on the walk there to quench my thirst and pleasent concert staff (not sure if they're related to the waterfront or the event). Awesome experience with the skyline as the background, no funny smells that dont belong with an outdoors concert. Crowd management was pretty good. Acoustics were acceptable, there's only so much you can do outdoors. Never waited long to get drinks and I even dropped one and got a free refill! Thanks read more

Was here for the Fleet Foxes show a few weeks ago. Most people will agree that the view of the skyline behind you can't be beat. However, the view of the stage isn't as good. It's basically like a big parking lot/open field, without any pitch. People were packed like sardines, and when a person fainted in front of us, it was very tough to get someones attention to help. That all being said, the sound wasn't all too bad. Also, there is a beer garden where people over 21 can drink. But no drinks are allowed out. There was more room in there during the show, and you can still see the stage decently. read more

I went to see Weezer here a while back and was blown away by the views and the atmosphere. When Cake was slated to play here there was no question it would be worth the trip...until we got there. Instead of seeing a concert in a park with grass and amazing views of new york, you are now simply in a parking lot with no views of anything but the backs of buildings. Absolutely NOT worth any travel to this venue. If you live nearby, it's still uninspiring...but convenient. But I wouldn't bother making any special trip to this destination for a concert. BTW - Cake was awesome. They had a great show despite the dismal atmosphere. read more

The view of the city is great. I went last Saturday and it was a perfect day to be near the water. Then, Kevin O. and I got into a tough guy contest about who could hit more Wiffle ball home runs (editors note: winning such a contest probably doesn't make you that tough). The grass was too full of people to play, so we tried playing on the big concrete area nearby. There are lots of small sharp rocks and we lost the ball under a row of 50 port-a-pottys. We ended up tying 0-0. Great park, but wish they had a little more room for sports. read more

Gorgeous venue. Went for the pool party back in '09 and the line was up the block. Plenty of Girl Talk love. You'd think they were hosting a free show or something! Some nerve. Anyway,they had REAL food. Like Pork BBQ from Fette Sau. If you haven't been there, and you like meat and/or whiskey, I would start walking there now. It was a weird setup since not everyone there was 21. They herd you like cattle through some gates, and the table with bottled water was about 15 feet away but a 10 minute side-winding walk. Other than that, had a blast. They had some serious dodge-ball action going on. It's funny to see people in skinny jeans trying to be athletic. read more

I saw Frightened Rabbit and Deathcab here last night - pretty cool venue! The setting is beautiful - it's the perfect spot for a good view of midtown, and the East River manages to look quite nice as well. Sweetening the pot, beers are Brooklyn varietals and only $6. There were good options that looked good, although I didn't sample. The sound wasn't great, but about on par for an outdoor venue. Kind of annoying that they don't let you into the main GA section in front of the stage if you have a beer. You have to stay in a section off to the side if you have a drink. Portopotty situation was, well, a portopotty sitiuation. Cool place to see a show! read more

This is a cool venue that gets pretty big acts and has some of the best views any music venue can offer in NYC. I for one am not huge on outdoor drinking in the 90+ degree, humid NY summer's, but once the sun goes down, the beauty and comfortability are turned all the way up and it can be a truly wonderful experience. read more

I love the location. The view is amazing, but aren't you going to be looking at the band? The sound kind of sucks, but I feel like it does at most outdoor venues. The drinking thing is the annoying part. There is 2 sections, and the one away from the stage is the only one you can drink in. WHY?! Having to get drink tickets is annoying. Also sucks it's only brooklyn lager and 3 wine options. We've been here twice, for Modest Mouse and Widespread Panic, we were excited for our 2nd concert here, but we we're a bit disappointed b/c it highlighted the not so great things about WW. I went to the Williamsburg Waterfront for their last Pool Party of 2010. The music really wasn't my style and the beer was overpriced, but it's got a great view of the NY skyline and the crowd is pretty chill. This waterfront promenade is partly situated in the shadows of some newer high-rise apartments. It offers some nice unobstructed views of the Williamsburg Bridge, Midtown Manhattan and the East Side, and even the FDR. It's nothing spectacular, and not nearly as impressive as the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, but still a nice place to chill and people watch. read more

Only one review? Hmmm. I would say this is a pretty solid place to see a show. **WARNING** There are plain clothes cops moving through the venue. We saw two kids who had lit up a joint HANDCUFFED and escorted out. So...you know...be careful out there kids. The stage was turned around so that the skyline was behind us which I know is different from other shows they've done there. I don't know if the music was blaring back into the neighborhood and so they turned it around or what. I would have liked to have had a band AND skyline view, but I certainly didn't mind the set-up. There's plenty of different areas to explore. As Janine, mentioned, beer is in it's own section that you need your ID bracelet to get you into and so that keeps litter to a minimum. There are a healthy number of porta-johns at the location, but the line was still pretty long most of the night. You should expect a five to ten minute wait each time you visiti. I try to roll to concerts without much to weigh me down, but I did see plenty of backpacks which makes me think that you could bring some of your own supplies food/drink wise if you wanted. There's plenty of room. It's a huge venue. I'd say it probably held 5,000 or more. The skyline and waterfront is literally right behind you and that is a big plus. The sound was amazing and clear without being so loud as to destroy your hearing for the rest of the night. When the show was over, it was fun to join thousands of people walking down the middle of the streets in Williamsburg as we all filtered back into the night. Good venue. read more

A friend and I decided to take a walk over here after dinner and we both fell in love with how beautiful the view was. Sitting along the promenade and watching the sunset was absolutely amazing. The landscaping is well kept but of course it would be. Great spot for a date or even engagement photos. Absolutely love it and definitely going back. read more

I spent a few weeks here covering the big warehouse fire and I will say the views are awesome. There are places to eat and grab coffee around the area. It's a nice place to go and hangout. Check out the soccer fields. They take care of the park and there are hardly any problems down there. read more

I went to see Fleet Foxes with my wife and a couple of our friends and thought the band was amazing, the venue not so much. The design of the venue prohibits you from having food or drink in the concert. It's seperated into to halves, one with the stage and directional speakers with decent sound, and the other with food and drink but no speakers (and the sound dramatically loses quality when you move to the food and drink side). The venue has tight cattle - type turnstiles so you can't walk through with your hands by your side, I guess to keep you from trying to bring your beverage over to the non-beverage side. The large angry looking bounders are at each side with a watchful eye to make sure you're following the rules and don't esacpe with so much as a dog into the conert side of the venue. It depends on your tolerance, but I like to see bands where I am treated like an adult. I would love to go see My Morning Jacket and Cake this summer, but I'll see them somewhere else. read more

As a Music venue THIS PLACE HAS MOVED to Williamsburg Park 7 blocks down. Review for the new venue: Enclosed by two Sheet metal buildings (can you say reverb?) and concrete ground with chain linked fences all around, there are no views to be had. It feel like you are hanging out in a prison courtyard where the inmates get a few hours a day in the sun light. The waterfront was beautiful with grass filled areas to relax and access to the water, the new spot is like having a concert at a football stadium parking lot with no football, no tailgate, and overpriced food. At least drinks were reasonable $6-8 if you were willing to wait on the 200 person line. Williamsburg, move the concert venue back to the Waterfront. Thanks. read more

This place stinks. I beg all artists thinking of playing at the Williamsburg Waterfront to avoid this place. Other than the view, there is very little good things to say about this venue. The most ridiculous thing about this venue is their alcohol policy. They make all of the drinkers go to a side area and they do not all alcohol inside the main area. I'm 34, never had any trouble with the law, and I enjoy a few drinks at a concert. But I felt like a deliquent by being forced to hang out on the side where the sound sucks. The sound in general sucks at this place, but it's even worse in the drinking pen. To add insult to injury, they sell "Tickets" for drinks. So you have to wait in line to buy tickets and then wait in line to get your beer. Late in the show, the venue ran out of beer (talk about amateur hour) and only one stand had beer left. In a normal situation, I would have skipped out. However, I had already paid for my drink, so I had to wait in line! 30 minutes later, I finally got my beer and the woman serving had the nerve to ask for a TIP!!! She said they are volunteers. Ok, I paid $42 to get in, $6 a pop for beer, and now she is trying to get a tip from me because she's a volunteer. Here's an idea, why doesn't this place become professional and hire professionals to run the place...or better yet, just close it down. I'd hate to hear a favorite band of mine skips out on the beacon or radio city to come to this place because I'm not coming back. Screw you Williamsburg and your crappy venue. read more

I hate hate hate hate this venue. Sound is iffy, concrete floor is concrete, no view of anything - remarkable for an outdoor venue - and with the fences, the whole sense is like being in a prison yard. I'm really sorry I have tix to Animal Collective next month. It will suck to hear such beautiful music in such a crap setting. read more
