She made me snap a picture of the inside of my mouth To show her My missing tooth that needs to be replaced. Gather my dental records from a previous dental office near where I used to live. And, even then insisted before giving pricing To come in their office. I'm quadriplegic in a wheelchair and it's not easy getting back and forth to Williamsburg Dental. As soon as I explained to her that I had a dental implant done for $3,400 years previous she then replied We couldn't even come close to that. I'm thinking that Williamsburg dental Implants are more like $6,000 or $7,000. Dr. Tibbetts and Dr.Spennatto are as good as it gets. They're great dentists that know what they're doing. They are filled with an efficient dedicated staff that all care for their patients. He addressed the problem. I am pain free and he helped me during his busy Friday and during his terribly busy last hour of the work day. He's amazing! I would recommend my Doctor, Doctor Lamb. He is a big teddy bear! BUT I would suggest that you take what ever doctor you are given for your first appointment. Only because every doctor/dental assistant there has their own personality (great personalities if I might add!). Be a little adventurous, and see what doctor is best for you! Either way, no doctor will disappoint you, they are all wonderful, outgoing people that will do nothing but make you feel comfortable-that's what most of us need when visiting a doctors office! Not only is the outside of the dental beautiful, the people inside are as well! When entering, you think you are entering an adorable home. If you look up you will see a very high ceiling with a huge chandelier hanging. You are welcomed with greetings and are insisted on having coffee from their high-tech, delicious coffee maker with all sorts of flavors, and typically pretzels as a snack (which are always fresh!). This dental office is a very soothing one. No need to feel any discomfort, embarrassment, fear, nada-the place is great! Oh, and they handle children just great! My sister, age 5 at the time, a big scaredy cat, she walked out of there laughing and telling me, "that wasn't scary", I turned around and said, "told ya!". They handle with care. This has-been my favorite dentist for years. More recently I was seen by a new Associate, Dr. Rachael Wezka. She was superb, funny and cheerful throughout my entire visit. I'm no longer a patient here but was for a long time--pretty much since my first dental visit. Dr. Lamb was my dentist for most of that time, and he was very nice and personable. Some of the hygienists were friendlier than others. The facility is very beautiful and clean. They have TVs in each room and let you control the remote. My one complaint was that they tended to be hard sell. They tried to convince me for years that my wisdom teeth needed to come out, though they never bothered me and were growing in straight. I switched to a new dentist because Williamsburg Dental doesn't accept my new dental insurance, and that doctor said that I really don't need to get my wisdom teeth out. I'm going to go with that opinion. they also tried to convince my brother to get a whitening treatment...every time he went. I think that asking one time might have been enough, but they seem to just want to make the extra sell on that one. Overall, a nice place. I would recommend them. read more

Not afraid to go to the dentist anymore ! I cannot say enough about Dr. Bob Spennato - he not only does beautiful work but does it in such a kind, caring, gentle and non-judgmental way. You can tell he really cares about people, and goes to any lengths to make sure you are taken care of. No shaming here as with other dentists I have seen. All the staff are wonderful - Deb, Brandi and Angela especially - but they are all great. They are very conscious of Covid precautions also--no soft pretzels for now but hopefully they'll be back when this is over! I recommend Williamsburg Dental and Dr. Bob Spennato to everyone I know ! I grew up in the area, but moved to DC for full time work. I still come here for all my cleanings and dental work, which should say something. The staff here are so nice and accommodating and the hygienists are all friendly and do an excellent job. I always leave feeling like a million bucks. I've seen Michelle and Angela - I would highly recommend both of them. Dr. Spennato is highly competent, genial, and very approachable. This place is great! The staff is friendly, the place is clean and they're always on-time for appointments. I have had 2 crowns replaced there, which both looked great, and many cleanings. Eventually they stopped taking my insurance, so I had to find another place. The only reason I give this place a 4 out of 5 is that I had a crown fall out years later and my dentist at the time said that it was not put in correctly by Williamsburg. That being said, the dentist that put in my crown at Williamsburg does not work there anymore, so that's a good thing. As soon as they start taking my insurance again, I'll be back. read more

My son was very upset from a broken tooth. Dr. Capista told him he could wait, however my son felt he needed to be seen ight away. I had not seen my son's tooth. So I was in no position to say that it could or couldn't wait two days. Dr. Capista did talk to my son directly but he as not reassuring at all. He was on-call, but was out of town and didn't want to have to drive back. It seemed he was more concerned about his drive back and not my son's tooth. So I was not confident of his reassurance that my son's tooth could wait. My son has Crohn's Disease that has adversely affected his teeth. My son was insisting it was so bad that he was going to go to some dentist that advertises on Billboards along I-95. So I asked Dr. Capista who was on-call to drive Back and see my son. He was very unprofessional when he treated my son as he complained about having to drive back. Although I have always found the dentists at Williamsburg dental to be competent I can now not say they're compassionate. read more

I rated Williamsburg Dental with five stars because the experience I had at my dental appointment was wonderful. I was greeted by a lovely lady at the reception desk who welcomed me by name. She said that she would let Dr. Spennato know that I had arrived. She offered me a beverage and I accepted cold water because it was a very hot day. It wasn't long before his assistant brought me back to a room and she made me comfortable and then asked if I had any concerns. Within minutes Dr. Spennato entered the room. He immediately put me at ease with his awesome personality. He explained what he would be doing and asked if I had any questions. Throughout the treatment he checked on my well being. I was comfortable and the appointment was painless. Before I left I met with his Treatment Coordinator to discuss future work that I needed to have done. I was very glad that she wrote everything down on paper and explained how my insurance worked because understanding insurance can be so confusing. Lately, I have had several doctor appointments with specialists and I can say unequivocally that I have never been treated so well in any office. Williamsburg Dental is a clean state of the art dental office but what really makes it special are the great doctors and the wonderful staff that works there. read more

Just to clarify, yes, Williamsburg Dental has some really good dentists (yes 3 stars), the issue is the "culture". I am sure that many patients like the practice and I was one of them, but I have seen for years how it has evolved from a caring practice with caring dentists to a "money" culture. It probably is not intended, but it is impact to the patient that matters from a business standpoint. I am the voice of the customer and this is my experience. It should not be downplayed, dismissed, or refuted by chalking it up to a "client with a financial dispute". There was another review that implied something similar regarding the practice being a "hard sell". Let's be clear, there was no financial dispute involved, payment arrangements were made and were not executed appropriately. I have an issue with the "tone" of the practice when I call to make an appointment that the first thing said is "oh, I see there is a balance due" - this is not a reflection of any one person, just what everyone is instructed to say. Yes, everyone should rightfully pay their bills. However, I feel that there is no credibility applied to loyal clients. Even if there was a balance of about $1600.00 due, it is not even taken into consideration that it will be paid since I have been a client for 30 years or more and there has been over $25,000 plus paid to the practice over the many years I have been a patient. I felt that I was ostracized for even having a balance - again the tone of the practice - no one specifically. I have shared information about my life and it was always good to know that when I spoke to the dentist/assistants/hygienists, they "remembered" special things about me and my family and me theirs - that is genuine. What I found disingenuous is that every phone call is prefaced with "so I see you owe $$$/have a balance" -- I was taught that the patient comes first - when the patient comes first, the money will come. I realize that it is a business, but the business has to realize that I am a patient first. If I take my child to the pediatrician, I don't expect them to say "oh, the doctor can't see your child today because I see you have a balance". I guess I was expecting Williamsburg Dental to acknowledge that maybe if there is "one" person who feels this way, then there are probably 10 more who also may feel this way. In my humble opinion, perhaps the response could be more in line with "maybe we need to make some adjustments as we wouldn't want any 'one' customer to feel this way". When I went in to pay the balance off, I had made a statement to the "bookkeeper" that "it is a shame that 'this' happened because my family has been coming there for 30 years" and her response was "please don't talk" (I believe Barbara was her name) - I thought this is what is perpetuating the "tone" I have been referring to - perhaps that is why she stays in the back? The receptionist, Lisa, at the desk was very nice and amenable to the situation - she did her job well. I felt that during my whole visit there were daggers thrown at me because I wrote a review on Yelp - kind of like everyone was set up to be defensive with me. Also, during my visit to pay off the balance, I had made a remark to the girl (Toni was her name) who was running my credit cards to "round up the balance figure to the next dollar -- you can have the extra dollar as I see it is important to the office" - She nicely said, "I am being cordial to you" and my statement was not derogatory toward her at all, however, I felt like she was going to respond to anything I said from a "defensive" position and she does not even know me. I even made a statement back that I thought she was being "condescending" to me. The office had made me feel very unwelcomed after 30 years. It is unfortunate that my point was not correctly interpreted and I was not approached by anyone in the practice as to why I felt this way. My intent is to not dissuade anyone from going to the practice as there are very good dentists there, my intent is to hopefully spark some thought that improvements need to be made within the business to change the "tone". I hope much success to Williamsburg Dental - just please listen to the patient as we may have a point!! read more
