After visiting Colonial Williamsburg, I took my parents to a local nostalgic place called…read moreWilliamsburg General Store, it's a family owned shop that was filled with snit snat items, apparels, variety of sweet treats, flags, retro toys, hot sauces, specialty soaps, jellies, plush animals and much much more. Also they have a homemade ice cream cafe in the rear of the store called Bigfoot's Ice Cream Shack (formerly Bubba's). All ice cream is made in house with unique flavors such as strawberry cheesecake, pistachio almond, peachy peach, southern blackberry cobbler, orange swirl and many more. There's option from cups, waffle cones, shakes and sundaes. I try their southern blackberry cobbler, peachy peach and salted caramel brownie. They all have their own unique flavors but the blackberry cobbler was creamy, smooth and delicious. All their staff are amazingly friendly, knowledgeable and patient. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely make another visit to get some gifts since holidays are approaching and can't leave until I try other flavors of their homemade treats. They also have outside seatings too.

I just wish that the folks working were more efficient and friendlier. I don't love that they take the tags off when you buy things. I know that's their process and it's all final sale anyway, but it'd be ideal to have an itemized breakdown. I thought the sweatshirt I was buying was $26 because it was situated in the same display as other sweatshirts that were $26 (display pictured). My fault for not taking note of the specific one I picked up, which was $38. The price difference felt a bit outrageous for the same brand of shirt and I had to email them to confirm the price. The line to check out took about 25 minutes. I am in my 30s, but I do have a bad back, so standing in place hurts. I listened as they gracefully apologized to all the older folks ahead of me, but they barely said a word to me when it was finally my turn, much less an apology for the excessive wait. I just wish that, being that it's nearly 2025, they'd consider a more efficient check-out system. I included that feedback in my email to them, though they didn't acknowledge it sadly. That would've been a great time to apologize and confirm that they will do a better job of treating guests equally regardless of appearance in the future. Five stars for the quality goods; one star for the service, but I'm rounding my review up to be kind.

If you enjoy outlet shopping, the Williamsburg Premium Outlets are definitely worth a visit. The…read moreplace is enormous--probably twice the size of any outlet center I've visited in years. Just about every major brand you can think of is here, making it easy to spend several hours shopping if that's your thing. The only downside is the layout. Instead of being designed so you can start at one end and work your way through the entire center--or follow a convenient loop--the stores are spread across multiple sections. We noticed a lot of people parking, visiting a few stores, then getting back in their cars to drive to another section and repeat the process. It doesn't make for the most efficient shopping experience. We happened to visit during a stretch of 100°+ temperatures, so walking from one section to another simply wasn't practical. We visited the stores we wanted to see, then called it a day. In cooler weather, it would be much easier to spend several hours exploring everything the outlets have to offer. Overall, the selection is outstanding. Whether you're looking for clothing, shoes, accessories, home goods, or specialty stores, chances are you'll find what you're looking for. Just plan ahead, wear comfortable shoes, and if you're visiting during the summer, be prepared to use your car to get between sections.

It ended up I only purchased from Nautica. I would recommend checking them out.

Today's review really is about The Gathering Place cafe, which is why we went to The Mole Hole. It's absolutely lovely. They have about 4 to 5 tables that could accommodate 4 people. Plus they had a cute table for two. The tables are elegantly decorated with linen floral napkins on pretty placemats. See photos. The food is light fare, but with ample portions. We started with iced teas (they also offer beers, wine, and champagne). For entrees, we ordered the spinach salad with salmon and pecans as well as the ham and spinach quiche with the southern pea salad. The pea salad contained peas, corn, pimento, and shredded cheddar cheese -- quite unique and very good. My husband can't stop raving about it. We really enjoyed our meals. All food is made in house. See photos. Service is prompt and friendly. You pay at the final checkout up front so you can pay for food and any shop purchases together. Bring cash for your tip, as their receipts don't include a line for a gratuity since they are primarily a shop. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday for lunch until 3 p.m.
