Steeped in history, Merchant Square in Williamsburg, VA, is a captivating journey through time. Cobblestone streets, reminiscent of a bygone era, weave a narrative of the past beneath your feet. The architecture is amazing and stands as a testament to centuries of stories, each brick and facade echoing with the rich heritage of Williamsburg. Local boutiques, carefully nestled within historic structures, breathe new life into age-old traditions. Every step is a walk through history, offering a profound connection to the roots of this vibrant community. Merchant Square is a step back in time to the Williamsburg's evolution. You can see musket bullet holes in buildings. Super cool

Merchants Square has lots of nice gift shops It's also very walkable to a few good restaurants. The street fair nearby has lots of arts and crafts.

Adjacent to Colonial Williamsburg this 18th century style retail district including over 40 shops and restaurants. A nice place to enjoy a stroll and get something to eat.

We can't visit Williamsburg without going to Merchants Square. Our favorites are The Cheese Shop, The Peanut Shop, and Wythe Candy Shop. We stumbled upon a farmers market too...so much to see in Williamsburg today. This is a wonderful place to take the family, especially during the holidays. The decorations will put you in a festive mood. Love it!

Sometimes in the past, they've limited the amount of people in the store and personally I really like that because it changes my shopping experience. I don't get easily agitated. The staff is pretty helpful and they move quite quick in the checkout line. Big bonus is that they are always willing to help and try and find a deal for you. Big bonus to the military discount. Really no problems other than the amount of times I'm asked if I am part of the Nike app. We were really knocked out of the park for our kids shoes here especially my teenage son . When you combined any deals off of their clearance and add military discount, we really get a good value.

Staff roaming around asking ppl if they nike members with scanners but can't separate a checkout line from a return line. What's the purpose if starting the process via the app if you waiting 30+ minutes for lack of assistance. There should be a better system in place, this was a horrible experience. Get to the front guy calls next in line I let him know I have a return he says ok. Get to him and he can't complete my return because it was an online order, needless to say I'm moved to another register where I'm finally able to complete my return. Not a good experience at all.

The two people working the counters could not have been over 17. They needed help and the manager gave such an attitude for no reason and did not seem interested in helping them at all. She seemed very grumpy. Other comments: The prices on most things are very reasonable. Some others not so much. I've never been to an Ollie's that was good and clean. Half the store was nice and organized and the other half basically everything was just thrown on the shelves. That's it.

An elderly customer was waiting at the resister, and one of the associates asked here if she was 'ready to check out" when the elderly patron replied with a smile "are you ready to work?" (one never knows if they still had to set u the register) The senior most associate spun around and yelled at the patron "that was so disrespectful!" and the patron said she was not sure if they were ready to ring her up, but the associate yelled at her, and kept yelling at her, coming around the register to confront the lady. I was in shock and intervened asking 'what is going on' the associate continued to yell and approach the patron, and asking the patron her name as the associate was going to report her. It was quite shocking Unfortunately, I have seen poor behavior from some (not all) associates here over the years. Another time a patron was shopping and had a pile or clothing on the counter - then she asked to use the bathroom (she was not done shopping, but needed the restroom). An associate told her she could not use the bathroom unless she both something. The poor woman had to leave her future purchases to find a restroom elsewhere And - I asked one if I had Talbot rewards, and was told they do not have to look them up and will not honor them Whoever runs this store needs to get a firm hand on the associates, as I will not return until they do And - if anyone knows how I can report this associate to higher ups, please let me know

The store was well-lit and tidy, especially considering all the foot traffic in/out on a busy Saturday a couple weeks before Xmas and during the winter/farmer's market in merchant's square. It was a little hot inside. Staff was friendly and explained about not carrying plus size anymore. My friend found a few items she wanted and so did our other friend and myself (socks and a brooch for my mom). They were well stocked, even though some items didn't have all the available sizes. Lots of items were paired with other items that went with it or alternatives. It looked nice. Staff was even nice to the cranky guy "price matching" something he'd bought earlier and ended up returning and re-purchasing (it was outside their price match time frame).

I used to be a frequent shopper here when I had to wear suits daily and traveled to the burg often. They still carry the top quality brands such as Barbour, Burberry, Duck Head and others, even the salesman is a legend having worked at the shop since the 1980's. I was looking for some trousers and recalled they carried Bill's Kakis. I tried on a pair that was from the same manufacturer. A 36/34 was a perfect fit on the waist, but needed the length taken in. They still offer free in-house tailoring services. The no pressure sales makes purchases easy. The gentlemen working the shop no the business inside and out. Due to the fact everything they carry is quality materials with exceptional services they are pricey. In my opinion worth the price point. It's literally impossible to find these shops. They will mail your alterations for a fee, or you need to do in store pick up. Turn around is typically within the same week. However, if a rush is needed let them know. Fantastic shop and great memories.
