My husband bought me a gift from here which I was hoping to exchange. I'd been here before, but only to browse as the goods are higher end with correspondingly higher price points. We returned to see if I could find something closer to what I myself would have chosen. We weren't in the aisle too long before an associate came and asked if we needed some assistance. We were happy for the help as there is a huge selection on display. We explained what we were looking for, and she set right to work trying to find what we were after. She was quite knowledgeable about the options and went to every length possible to investigate all our options. I was looking to upsize the 4 quart 5D All Clad deep saute pan for a 6 quart one. She explained all of the differences between the pieces that I looked at. She made several trips to the stock room to confirm whether or not they were available, and brought out a few different samples. She then answered my questions about which other brands might fit the bill, and which ones would have the specific features I was looking for. Turned out that many items were out of stock. Apparently supply is thin all over these days. She mentioned which might be available to be ordered and shipped out to me. What I found quite disappointing was the $45 shipping charge that would apply for that option. I was really surprised given the hundreds of dollars, even over a thousand, just one pan can cost, and especially since I had just been offered the option to have my Coach purse shipped back to me after cleaning for free. That to me is the biggest reason they don't merit a full 5 stars, as the actual in person service was stellar. It was also disappointing that several pieces just weren't available but given this isn't specific to Williams-Sonoma, I won't hold that against them per se. I might come back in future for a special item, because it really is a great place to browse a huge selection of all kinds of kitchen tools. I was a little disappointed not to see some brands I prefer, but there's certainly a lot more here than Crate & Barrel. Keep in mind that if you do want to return or exchange an item, you have 30 days from the date of purchase. Overall, a really enjoyable and well supported shopping experience. read more

The store itself is 5 stars but you do get the occasional mind warp when you're in front of a store employee who is completely clueless as to where and what anything is. Like most stores at Yorkdale, you can now have them bring your purchases straight to your car and skip the cold. Was very convenient during the holidays when the mall was packed. My advise, research reviews on a product that you're interested in and youtube how to use it and save yourself some time putting together a jigsaw puzzle with the people who work there, because time is precious. The store is lovely and anything kitchen is really my little haven when it comes to shopping. read more

On May 8th of this year I did an online order of a Mothers Day gift. It was to be delivered on May 15th (late is okay) but when I looked today I found it was not only never delivered, but it was not even getting prepped for delivery. Apparently because I'm shopping from the USA, there is some additional step needed for the credit card. I fully accept that. But the fact that I did not receive a call or email to tell me there was a problem is inexcusable and unprofessional. I only noticed today, May 17th, because I checked the tracking. When I called there was a lot of humming and focusing on how frustrated I was. Zero help. Zero accountability. I have happily shopped with Williams Sonoma in Canada and the USA for decades. Never again. Quality of their items is the reason I keep going back, despite the delivery issues continually being a problem. I have other options for kitchen shopping. My Williams Sonoma credit card is now in the trash. read more

Williams Sonoma is my go to store for Thanksgiving and Christmas mainly for the things I need. I have had very good service and very polite employees so I can only say that I am very happy with my purchases. I just love my room spray Fleur De Sel and my all purpose cleaner Fleur De Sel. DO NOT SHOP HERE! GO TO ANY OTHER STORE! I'll try and keep me and my girlfriend story brief. It is currently Jan 29th, 2019. My girlfriend has ordered a Vitamix S55 blender in-store during a sale they had back at the beginning of November. She paid, left her email and number and was told she should get a call in about a week or two. It is now the middle of December, no call, no email. We call into the store and they say they will check in on the delay and get back to us. We hear back from them and they ask us if they can ship it to our home. We tell them that we're living in Montreal so it would be fantastic if they sent it to us here as we would've had to pick it up when visiting the city otherwise. We receive the blender last week and it sits at the concierge for a few days. We open the box shipping box which was in perfect condition and notice that the blender box had already been open already and was damaged. Clearly this couldn't have been damaged during shipping as the protective outer box had no damage and it was stuffed with insulation. We open the blender box all the way and the contents had been thrown in, it was CLEARLY a floor model. Best part? IT WAS THE WRONG BLENDER! They sent us the S50 which is the outdated version of the blender. 100% not what we ordered and not worth the same as what we ordered. Not only are we almost 3 months into this fiasco but now we have a floor model blender that isn't even the right model. When my girlfriend called in they basically accused us of being liars. They said it wasn't a floor model and the box was sealed when they shipped it according to there shipping depot. WHY WOULD WE BE LYING? We just want the correct blender that's on our receipt! Now they're telling us they're sold out of the correct blender. I own 4 companies. I would never tolerate this level of service from my customer service teams. Between the 2 of us we've spent THOUSANDS at Williams-Sonoma. Wusthof knife sets, Le Creuset bake-wear, All-Clad cook-wear and so much more. We will NEVER shop with this company again as they clearly do NOT value our business. read more

What a lack-lustre experience. Decided to go to WS to look at potential items for a Wedding Registry and wanted some more information. The entire store was empty except for two employees who seemed to be (fake) oblivious to me walking around. No greeting, no nothing. Anyways, went up to one of them to ask for more information and she seemed confused about my simple "Can I get some more information on the wedding registry process?" question. She answered you have to come in on Sunday morning. WS certainly makes it very easy for brides-to-be to scan their gifts...why only on Sunday morning beats me. Most likely because that is when she is NOT working and wants everyone else to do the work. The other employee than piped up "you can come actually anytime, you just have to make an appointment." She didn't tell this directly to me though, but to her colleague...who awkwardly repeated it to me...even though I was standing right beside the both of them. Then they both went about their business unpacking some objects. At least I got a business card to call in to make an appointment...which of course I will not be doing. If you want no service, no help, no nothing, then I absolutely recommend this WS location. read more

I've always walked in WS and thought 'when I get my own place, I would buy something from here. It looks like they carry the best stuff' Finally, I made my first purchase. I was very excited. Unfortunately, they gave me the wrong item. I only realized when I got home, so I called. No apologies, but they said they would hold the correct item for me and made sure it didn't go out of stock. When I got there, a very specific staff was quite firm with everyone during a very busy time. No smiles. No please and thanks. She seemed very annoyed. After assisting me, I said 'I appreciate your help'. She said simply, 'sure.' Nothing else. Maybe I was naive to expect more from a seemingly premium store like WS. Smaller than Bloor Street, brighter and airier than the Eaton Centre location, this Williams-Sonoma occupies prime real estate in the middle of Yorkdale mall. I often duck in to this shop on my way into Holt Renfrew. The two stores share a lot in common. I often browse in both, but seldom buy unless there's a killer sale on. When said sale occurs, I stock up on ridiculous amounts of metal-wear; le creuset and all-clad pans here; cufflinks and watches there. Both stores are staffed by staff who are well-informed, but whose eagerness to please seems to vary according to how professionally I'm dressed. Both stores offer tantalizing free samples. At Holt Renfrew I've been known to tipple the Acqua di Parma. Here at W-S, it's the chili samples using their starter (wow. peppers onions and tomatoes for $20), mini-cupcakes, or just a cup of coffee brewed in a mortgage payment/thermal carafe. For a high-end kitchenware store, W-S has a pretty stigny return policy, unless you speak to the right manager-in which case your request will be accommodated with a smile. So far, this location does not have the right manager, Still, 4 full stars. I love pots. I love knives. I love coffee. I love them even more on the 50% sale table at the back of the store. I had the exact same terrible, if not racist experience as the other ASIAN CLIENTS who also posted reviews at this store. It was the same OLDER WHITE LADY who did the exact same thing to us. While my wife and I were browsing at their collection of SHUN knives, suddenly we heard a loud voice saying "CAN I HELP YOU" we said not at the moment we are just browsing. She then had the audacity to say "WELL I ACTUALLY HAVE A CLIENT WHO IS INTERESTED" and asked us to move aside. As if I we had absolutely no rights to be there to browse around before committing to purchase the item. It seems rather apparent that this ELDER WHITE LADY is specifically targeting and being extra rude to ASIAN CLIENTELES, just like many of the other Asian reviewers here at this store. It is a terrible shame that such individual still exist in society today and I can see why William Sonoma is doing so poorly financially, after closing one store after another. If these are the kinds of condescending, arrogant and completely deprived of any kind of mannerism as your staffs, than I want to congratulate your company because I can see you filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy very soon. Keep up with your terribly, horrific customer service and I look forward to your company going under very soon. To all other clients out there, take your money and go to Crate and Barrel inside Yorkdale, they have far better prices and not to mention customer service. Good Riddance. read more

I am absolutely disgusted by the service provided by this Williams Sonoma location and their staff members. I placed an item on hold with the company during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was supposed to be a birthday gift from my boyfriend. I was told someone would get in touch with me once the store reopened. No one did. I decided to call the day after Yorkdale mall reopened only to speak with an unhelpful snooty employee. They told me they would look into the item I placed on hold, despite the hold period only being 24hrs. I advised that since we are in a pandemic I was told it would be put on hold until reopening. When I received a call back I was told that someone tried to email me, but because they were unsuccessful in getting in contact with me after this one attempt they decided to give to someone else this last limited edition item in all of Canada. I use the email address I provided them with daily. I have checked my junk mail and my trash. I have no email from the store. Beyond that, I just can't believe that only sending one email is the gold standard of Williams Sonoma and that they would proceed to give an item away after not speaking with the person who held the item. I am beyond disappointed by this outcome. I am heartbroken. With the COVID-19 pandemic happening, I truly believe we have to celebrate the small things. Despite having lost a family friend to COVID-19 and not having seen my grandparents in months, I was so excited for this item. It is now the day after my birthday and thanks to William Sonoma I will not be receiving a gift this year. read more

I visited this store today to get some gluten free pancake batter that I had bought from a different location several weeks before. The greeter at the door asked if I needed help and I explained that I would like to find the gluten free pancake batter. He said he would send someone to help me. After several minutes looking on my own I heard a voice behind me say "I don't know. Ask her what she wants". A few minutes later a female staff person asked if I needed help. Again I said that I would like to find the gluten free pancake batter. A grey haired female bellowed at me from behind the counter "there is no gluten free pancake mix. Only waffle mix". I asked if she was referring to the Ad Hoc brand and she said she was. I informed her that I had bought the product already and it could be used to make pancakes. Having just enlightened her, she grudgingly said "Oh" and into her headset asked someone to look for the same product I had asked about. The total lack of good customer service couldn't be explained away as being due to the store being busy because there were few customers. When you are going to pay those types of prices, you expect better customer service. I wouldn't step a foot back into the Yorkdale location. read more

Visited store mid November 2010. Ordered 2 knives because they were out of stock. They called to say they had arrived and would hold them until an agreed date. I went on the agreed date, fought ridiculous parking lot crowds and they couldn't find my order (over 20 minutes). Asked me to wait while they helped other customers. Staff in the store were more concerned with watching the exits for theft than helping customers. I intended to buy 2 new sauce pans but left with nothing. I've spent thousands in this store over the past year but no more!!! Terrible service...they let me walk out and didn't care. Very poorly managed staff. read more
