I have always loved going into a William Sonoma store, they have beautiful displays and always some very beautiful kitchen items. I have bought wedding gifts, birthday gifts, food baskets at Christmas and items for my own home. I have never had a problem there.
On Wednesday my husband and I went look at a Breville Smart oven at the William Sonoma near by. It was an item I had been looking at for months. We looked at three different models of the oven and decided on the one with the air fryer in it. I was thrilled. we brought it home he got it set up I made dinner, we ran it the test cycle only.
The next morning I saw the door had a dent in it the size on a thumb print. I called the store in the afternoon and after getting a run around from the salesperson who first said "they didn't have more, to they couldn't take it back to "ok, sure you can bring it in and we will replace it". We arrived at the store less then 24 hours after we had purchased the first one.
When we came in with the oven one of the other employees told us that it was too bad we didn't take the $20.00 offer they were willing to give us on the $400.00 oven because now this oven would go to the warehouse where it would then be thrown out. She literally was shaming us on our new purchase in front of other employees and one customer. I said nothing because I just wanted the replacement.
So what would they have done with this oven if they had opened it to use at as a display model and then found the dent? Would they have displayed it or would they have tried to pass it off on another buyer, or would it go to the warehouse to be thrown out?
If you are going to buy anything from William Sonoma, which I never will again, have them take the item out of the box and inspect it for damages, maybe even get them to plug it in and start it to make sure it works.
I am so surprised that a big name business like William Sonoma would first hire an employee that shames customers and that they don't stand by the products they sell. Shame on them. read more
