I learned a few new things about cooking. I also was able to find exactly what I needed. I work with clients and design kitchens. I plan to do all of my big projects through this store. I had an absolutely terrible experience in Williams Sonoma today. I went in to exchange some registry gifts and asked about a gift that had been back ordered for two months. I was told I could cancel the order, receive a gift card in the mail for it, and purchase the item in stock in store. I agreed to this and the sales associate proceeded. I left the store and later received a phone call that the order had been canceled and actually I would not be receiving the gift (which I wanted) or any gift card or merch card for it. This was not explained to me whatsoever before I took the action of canceling the order, which I never would have canceled if I had known that's what would happen, because I want the gift. I was told I could speak to customer service, who provided no solutions and repeated the same information to me multiple times. I was told that the gift giver had received an email saying I canceled the order which is an absolute nightmare because I would never want the gift giver to think I didn't want the gift! I called the store manager back and she provided no solutions other than calling the gift giver and apologizing. I registered for my wedding through Williams Sonoma with the expectation that I would receive good customer service and quality products. Due to a mistake admitted by the Williams Sonoma sales associate, I now have no gift, no credit for the gift, and need to apologize to the gift giver for returning a gift I never wanted to return. The worst part being one order with straight up manufacturing defects along the top rim of the mugs. Avoid buying gift platters from WS to provide a post operative recovery meal. The gift arrived beautifully packaged but the food was no longer cold. when I contacted customer service, they wanted a photo? I was only told a day later as they didn't want to hurt my feelings and the receivers hadn't taken a photo - how does a photo tell you that the foods temperature - the package had been thrown out. Though I was less than pleased with the accommodations, (mostly standing room only and poor visibility that Williams-Sonoma provided to guests as the host of the Charleston Food and Wine Iron Mixologist competion this year,I will say that while in the King street store there were a couple of items that caught my eye. This seems to be a higher end kitchen store and while there I found there were a lot of pricier items but also came across some reasonably priced. I came across a wine opener with a marble handle that was gorgeous and reasonable, I should have purchased it...nevertheless the store was neat, organized and the displays were presented in a manner that was appealing and showcased their merchandise well and the staff was courteous but I'm not likely to make the trip down as the items that they sell could likely be found elsewhere but at a more reasonable price. read more

Disappointed that Williams Sonoma promises but fails to deliver!! And you have to pay for it anyway Specifically, the order placed on May 1, 2024 was scheduled for delivery on Friday, May10, 2024. On Thursday, May 9, 2024, I noticed that the original delivery date was removed and the status of the order was "has not shipped." I called Williams Sonoma customer service and explained that my delivery was required to be received on or before Mother's Day, (which was May 12, 2024). I considered any delay in delivery to be a breach of contract and that I needed verification that it would be delivered by then or I would need to cancel the order. The customer service agent agreed and I was told that I would receive a call back on Friday to verify the shipment. I never received a call back. I called Williams Sonoma customer service back on Saturday, May 11 to formally cancel my order. I was told it would be cancelled and I would receive a refund within a few days. When I asked for a confirmation number, the agent could not give me one, but said it was in process. I felt uncomfortable that he did not give me a confirmation email or number about the refund. At this time, the order was still in "has not shipped" status. I then surprisingly received a notice on Tuesday, May 14 that the "order has shipped!" I called Williams Sonoma customer service immediately to see why this happened. According to the agents I had spoken to before, the order was cancelled. The agent I spoke to on May 14th said he had a record of my prior conversations and that he would make sure I received the refund. He apologized for the inconvenience and said that since the merchandise was a food item, it could not be returned anyway. Therefore there was nothing more I could do. I felt the issue was resolved. However, I received the letter from your office stating that the merchant "delivered" the order, therefore I am being charged with $153.95. This is outrageous since I was told by three different Williams Sonoma customer service agents that the order would be or was cancelled without any supposed problem. I noticed that Williams Sonoma included their "cancellation policy" with the dispute. I find this extremely upsetting that NONE of their own agents knew this policy because NONE of them mentioned that food items could not be cancelled. I also did not see this policy about food items being non-returnable when I placed the original order. I also did not get the opportunity to accept or cancel the order when they changed the delivery date. I feel Williams Sonoma acted in bad faith and that I should not be responsible for paying for items that were unwanted and that were received 4 days past their needed delivery date. I will be going to Harry & David or Mackenzie Limited the next time I need prepared gourmet food delivered ON TIME to my elderly mother. read more

They are getting two stars instead of one because the quality of the brand is decent. The last brick and mortar store is in Charleston South Carolina. Three hours from where I live, I made the drive into Charleston to go visit my cousin for today midweek girls trip getaway. I have been searching for a decent set of pots and pans that were lightweight Teflon and quality. I was also in the market for a good high-quality knife set with block. The knives that I chose sadly were not in stock, and will need to be ordered and mailed to my home. I was OK with that, a little disappointed to not be able to surprise my husband when I got back home, but I knew I was going to be receiving a good butcher block with good knives in the next week or so. I then turned my attention to cookware. Pots pans, skillets, etc. I tried and held multiple different brands and kinds of skillets and pots. Lightweight is very important for me because I only born with one hand, and sadly I shattered my distal bone into 17 pieces. So as you can imagine if I'm going to spend a chunk of change, I want to be on some thing that I can use and use comfortably. I settled on Clad wear and was excited because they had it in stock. The way that the store is set up in the location there is no parking anywhere near the store, there is barely room to pull in for loading or unloading. I freely admit that I should have double checked what they were putting in my vehicle, but considering that the sales lady had been there for a lengthy period of time and pretty much everything about anything in the store, I had zero reason to feel in need to double check that I was getting the correct product. Obviously, you know the next sentence coming is I did not get the Teflon clad wear instead I got the stainless steel. $1,000+ and is 100% not what I want. Upon contacting the store, I was told that if I brought it back with the receipt, they would exchange it for me. So a six hour round-trip over 250 miles, because your sales person provided me with the wrong box/product. Please to explain why you're staffing issues are my problems. Please explain why an offer of a postal exchange was not an option. Even when I said I would pay for the shipping to return if they would simply pay the shipping on the correct. But I was told no That I am back had to go into the store with my receipt and the unopened box, and that they would extend their return policy time frame since I lived a good distance from them. That was mighty nice of them. I guess I should be grateful. Do they sell excellent kitchen products and gadgetries? Well we all know the answers yes; however, I believe they're "customer service "is significantly lacking! I also believe that to be an understatement. I was actually told by the employee to please not, that is correct NOT an online order because it put their store, i.e. brick and mortar in more peril. Very unprofessional if you ask me. I believe that will be getting my refund, but I will not be exchanging the product. I believe in supporting the manufacturers of the products I purchase. As far as I am concerned, this company has lost my respect as well as my business. I cannot recommend this company, all I can simply do is wish you well, if you choose to engage with this company. if this is how they treat their customers in person face-to-face, I can only imagine what they're online. Oh man. The service and quality here has gone downhill. I purchase a $395 Breville microwave and it stopped heating. Came to return it and they don't accept customer returns anymore due to Covid?! Manager, Jamie, who has been there 5 years acted extremely annoyed when I asked questions about this policy. Spent over 2 hours on the phone w customer service, who had to call on my own, and finally got resolution but it was a huge waste of time. Go w Amazon. There are so many items that they have that are cool and that will want to add to your kitchen or home. I have been really satisfied with all of the purchases that I have made here throughout the years and they have been high quality products that have lasted. Yes, the place is expensive! You name it, and it is so. This is including a 20% off currently for the various household and kitchen items. Bought three large votive candles with a scent like a Christmas tree, for the price of $29.95. Yes, $10 each! After that, I centered in on needing/wanting some large size salt crystals for my salt grinder (had purchased a set of pepper and salt grinders from Amazon) and wanted Kosher salt, not because I am Jewish (I'm not) but it is recommended for lots of recipes in lieu of table salt. A nice saleslady came up and said that she could take my things for me to get them out of my hands, asking what I wanted, which I told her. She kindly said that she would check in the back as she thought there was some large crystal Kosher salt. Not so nicely, however, she never came back to report to me, but did tell me when I got to the check out register and checked out. Asked if I needed anything else, as she saw us looking in the knives section. Told her that yes, I was looking at a Santoku knife and off she went with us. Told her that I did NOT want any Japanese knives (not telling her why, but they are way, way expensive). When she was off showing me, yes, Japanese knives, stating that she thought the sale was still on for the reduced price of $79 instead of a sale price of $149, and that she would check. She came back with a well-over $100 price and I said thank you and off we went. Had it been $79, I certainly would have gotten it, as it is after all, Christmas time and it would make a good gift for the person that I was thinking of giving it to. So, I said no Japanese knives (and, yes, I have a witness who clearly heard me say that), but instead the expensive Japanese knives were shown to me. Although the place is expensive, a fair amount of what they have is decently expensive, but the service is WAY lacking. Oh, and why do they get me e-mail address for my receipt. Do you suppose that they will use that for advertising to me, and not just to "be green"? That is what I was thinking.... Three stars. read more

Surprise, you're European because "in America we have the debit cards with the 4 digits pin". It's an absurd conversation. I'm disappointed. Today on 9/7/23 I went into William-Sonoma in Downtown Charleston on King Street, to get a wedding gift for a close friend. I already knew what I desired, which was a Le Creuset dish, my friends enjoy cooking, and would throughly enjoy it. The older woman and older man working there this specific day, barely spoke to me upon entering the store. She couldn't even extended the basic acknowledgment, such as "Hello" or "Welcome to the Store". Simple manners weren't extended to me and my spouse. Once it was time for me to check out the older woman was extremely cold and not helpful with any questions I had. She did offer to box up the item, which was the least she could've done. To be honest, I would've preferred she didn't box it up, because it was pretty much thrown into the box. The box is currently falling apart, she didn't even try to fix the box before handing it to me. I am going to have to go home and reconstruct the box to make it presentable prior to gifting it to my friend. You would expect better service from the staff at Williams-Sonoma, such a high-end retail store. I have been to numerous Williams-Sonoma stores, and have never been treated with such disrespect and rudeness. I have frequent the Williams-Sonoma in Columbia, SC, and have ALWAYS gotten superb service. For the people at Williams-Sonoma today on 9/7/23, the older woman and man, need to realize that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and treat every person that walks in that door with respect. I have never experienced such vile and racially bias behavior in a long time, but I hope this is a lesson for the older woman and man working at the store today. My personal heaven. As someone who loves being in the kitchen and entertaining, I cannot get enough of this magical wonderland of small kitchen appliances. knick knacks, cocktail mixers, glassware, and pretty much anything else you could want! The staff are very polite and very knowledgeable of what they stock. I always do research before making larger purchases (pots, pans, knives) but they have a ton of items to check out and compare in store. I was perfectly pleasantly surprised by my experience here. I expected to be followed around the store and treated suspiciously but every one of the ladies made my experience a really remarkable one. Because of that, I was able to shop comfortably and make the purchases I needed. I've been in a number of Williams-Sonoma stores on both coasts, and this one obviously is off the corporate radar. Three associates walked past me several times, without a word. No hello, can we help you, are you looking for something, etc. This store has serious house-keeping issues. i.e. Items on floor all around the espresso machine bar, hallways and restrooms used for storage of boxes, bags, and other consumables. Pretty sad I had to buy a $3000 machine in a major market Williams-Sonoma store, and drive it with me to our Charleston property. read more

I absolutely love this store! Yes, some of the items are expensive. However, they have an entire line that is extremely affordable, even for college students! It's called Open Kitchen. It's great!!
