I had an off-brand protable generator that would not start. I changed the carburetor myself. The engine started, but it kept backfiring through the carburetor. I decided I needed some help, and I did not want to disassemble the engine myself. I took it to Driggers. I was greeted with, "We don't work on those!" I came back home. Pulled the valve cover to check for stuck valves. None found. Pulled the head to check for bent/leaking intake or exhaust valve. None found. Reassembled, adjusted valves. Problem persisted. Pulled the flywheel to look for a broken key which would affect engine timing. Not broken. Offshore manufactured spark plug had a small chip out of the tip of the insulator. Never thought that would be a problem. Found a used Champion spark plug in a toolbox that I inherited. It would fit, so I tried it. Nothing to lose since I was about to scrap the machine! Hit the key, and the engine started immediately! Ran the generator under load for an hour with no issues. Bottom line-these people were no help at all! No, I am not from San Fransico. Some default address in the system, I suppose!
